Chapter 104: Redwood Academy’s Challenge
Upon realizing that his passive skill, [Dual Wielding], was a perfect fit for his chosen talent, [Greatsword Meister (Rare)], Shye was on cloud nine.
The regular effects of the talent he acquired already satisfied him, but little did he expect that using both of his greatswords would double its effects.
'It's already nighttime huh?' Observing the stars and the pair of moons in the sky, Shye pondered silently.
He wanted to look into the intelligence attribute and its effects but unfortunately, he took too much time looking for the perfect talent to purchase.
Shye needed to sleep early today because the dean left him a note stating that he needed to go to school tomorrow for the reason that there would be a few visitors from other academies.
Hence, he decided to just explore the intelligence attribute once he was done with the matter regarding visitors from other academies.
Since he had zero points at the moment, he realized that delving into the attribute study wouldn't be feasible.
The wisest course of action seemed to be postponing it until after tomorrow's event. Who knows? He might have the opportunity to accumulate some points by then.
Thus, Shye decided to sleep.
…
'Crap!'
Shye quickly got up from his bed in a panic. He slept quite early yesterday so he didn't think that he would still oversleep.
Unfortunately, it seems that he slept a little too comfortably.
The dean told him to go to school at least ten minutes before the visitors arrived but it seems that even if he rushed now, he would be at least ten minutes late.
Shye couldn't help but shiver as he imagined Dean Snowcrest's stern and angry expression.
Still, he had to arrive as early as possible so he just took a quick bath and stuffed a huge piece of bread in his mouth before sprinting out of the door.
Meanwhile, Dean Snowcrest sat beside a dean from a different academy as his face twitched while suppressing his fury.
'Hahahaha! Dean Snowcrest, I must admit, that young female freshman scout student of yours was indeed strong, however, it seems like your second-year students were nothing special?" The dean from another academy said as he "tried his hardest" to suppress a mocking smile.
"Hahahaha! Dean Aran, your mouth is as vicious as always. Aren't you talking a bit too much when all of your freshmen got decimated by a little girl?" Dean Snowcrest shot back.
"Hahahaha! It seems that Dean Snowcrest was still clinging to the victory of a single freshman student."
The two deans hurled insults at each other as their students engaged in combat under the pretense of "comparing notes".
This competition between the two academies stemmed from the fact that the Redwood Academy, consistently ranking in the top 32 and top 64 of the Valenzia Region's Adventurer Academy Competition, would occasionally visit solely to mock the nearby Colzen Academy to the ground whenever they had an exceptional batch of students.
However, their hatred for Colzen Academy had a reason. The old golden generation of Colzen Academy students were somewhat arrogant and they excessively humiliated the Redwood Academy during their top 64 finish at the Adventurer Academy competition.
Not only did Redwood Academy fail to finish in the top 64 for the first time, but they were also humiliated ruthlessly by the Colzen Academy students.
This is why they occasionally visit Colzen Academy bringing students from all four year-levels to "compare notes" with the Colzen Academy students.
Despite Redwood Academy's unfriendly intentions, Dean Snowcrest is convinced that periodically sparring with students from other academies would be advantageous for his own students.
Thus, he willingly accepts their challenges each time.
Currently, Colzen Academy ran out of sophomores to challenge the sophomore students of Redwood Academy so it was concluded that the sophomore round was won by Redwood Academy and the score tally was now back to 1-1.
Redwood Academy was taken aback when their first-year students got decimated by Maia but fortunately, their sophomores retaliated and now, it was time for the battle of the third-year students.
The first student in the third-year roster of the Redwood Academy stepped onto the stage and waited for his opponent with an arrogant expression on his face.
Meanwhile, Dean Snowcrest gnashed his teeth in anger. He called all six of his strongest third-year students and not a single one was here!
"I apologize for the tardiness of my students, Dean Aran. Can we proceed with the fourth-year matches first?" Dean Snowcrest requested with an embarrassed expression.
Naturally, after hearing Dean Snowcrest's request, Dean Aran roared in laughter.
"Hahahahahahaha! Wasn't the current third-year students the strongest batch you had in the history of your academy? Why do they all seem like wusses?"
Dean Snowcrest finally couldn't take it anymore and frowned as he said:
"Dean Aran, watch your words, our students are only tardy but none of them are cowards."
In response, Dean Aran simply laughed even louder after successfully angering Dean Snowcrest.
However, in the end, he decided to not press Dean Snowcrest too much or things might get ugly. Dean Aran pretended to sigh and said:
"Haaaah…Why is it so hard to find an opponent for our third-year students…Well, I don't have a choice, do I? Let's proceed with the fourth-year matches first."
Unfortunately for Colzen Academy, Havan's batch was among one of the weakest batches they had in the academy and they got completely decimated by Redwood Academy's fourth-year students.
Due to this, the crowd from Colzen Academy was dejected. Being humiliated inside your own academy wasn't a good experience.
How they wish someone could bail them out of this situation right now…
Fortunately, as though the heavens were answering the desperate plea of the Colzen Academy crowd, a familiar voice sounded from behind them.
"D-Dean! I apologize for my tardiness" Shye said with an apologetic and embarrassed look on his face.
Meanwhile, Maia was stupefied. Had she known that her big brother was also called by the Dean to participate in this event, then she would've gone out of her way to wake him up.
