Chapter 562: 561 I don’t mind
Several meters away, by the poolside.
Nanny Zhang and Housekeeper Uncle Liu were changing the water, and their eyes flashed with surprise as they saw Mo Xiuchen carrying Wen Ran off the car.
Seeing the smile in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, they didn’t say anything. Instead, they silently watched the pair disappear into the doorway of the living room.
Once inside, Mo Xiuchen carried Wen Ran straight upstairs. Arriving at the master bedroom, he gently kicked the door open with his foot.
Walking all the way to the spacious bed, he gently placed her on the soft sheets.
He bent halfway over her, his hands still beneath her, not removed. His handsome face was inches from hers. He couldn’t bear to leave, gazing at her with gentle, focused eyes.
He was truly very happy.
After a while, he carefully pulled his hands away, his eyes still on hers, so tender he might as well be dripping water.
His slender fingers slowly stroked her fair jade-like face, looking at her still somewhat swollen eyes. His own eyes were filled with a touch of heartache.
Bending down, he softly kissed her forehead, tenderly whispering, “Ranran, from now on, I will always be by your side.”
If they truly didn’t have a lifetime together, what he could do was cherish every moment now and do everything in his power to aid her recovery.
If Gu Yan could not save Ranran, he would use his own methods to cure her of her illness.
He loved his Ranran and was willing to trade his own life for hers if need be.
The thought of this made his eyes increasingly misty.
He rose, sat by the bed, tucked Wen Ran in, and then delicately picked up her hand and brought it to his lips.
He kissed each of her fair, slim fingers before murmuring, “Ranran, forgive my selfishness. I don’t want to be alone in this world, and I don’t want to go back to the desolation and loneliness of the past. That’s why I’ve kept you by my side in any way possible. If your father can’t save you, I will.”
Wen Ran insisted on leaving because he was capable of transferring the virus out of her body.
He was grateful that even if Gu Yan couldn’t find a cure for her illness, he could still remove the virus from Ranran’s body, allowing her to continue living.
Learning from his mistakes that night, he knew he couldn’t be too impatient. He had to think things through carefully.

Wen Ran didn’t sleep for long. When she woke up, Mo Xiuchen was still sitting by her bed.
Gently holding her slim hand, he softly put it to his lips. His deep eyes were watching her tenderly.
When their gazes met, Wen Ran’s heart skipped a beat. His deep affection and tenderness were incredibly charming. Blinking, she asked in a soft voice, “How long have I been asleep?”
A spoiling curve appeared on Mo Xiuchen’s lips. His voice was magnetic and cheerful as he answered, “Not for long.”
“Have you been beside me the whole time?”
Wen Ran met his gaze steadily, her voice soft and gentle. It softened the man by the bed’s heart instantly.
He nodded with a smile, “You look too beautiful sleeping, I didn’t want to leave.”
Wen Ran couldn’t help but blush at his words.
A hint of shyness passed through her watery eyes. After bearing grudges for some time, after today’s incident, Wen Ran finally loosened up. When she heard his teasing words, she felt embarrassed.
Blinking, she tried to pull free from his grasp, but Mo Xiuchen tightened his hold.
He held her firmly in his palm, stretched out his other hand to her, bypassed her neck, and gently helped her sit up from the bed.
As Wen Ran sat up, she met Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes. She gently pursed her lips and after gathering her thoughts, she finally began hesitantly, “Mo Xiuchen, can we talk?”
Mo Xiuchen quirked an eyebrow, smiling at her as he responded, “Sure!”
He also wanted to talk to her. Though she promised to stay with him at the hospital, there were still unresolved issues between them.
He shifted from the chair to the edge of the bed, still holding Wen Ran’s hand as he looked at her gently and asked, “Ranran, what do you want to talk about?”
Wen Ran blinked, a light smile gracing her captivating face. She met Mo Xiuchen’s gaze, organized her thoughts and softly said, “Mo Xiuchen, I have promised not to leave you and I will keep my promise. No matter what, I will never leave you… unless I…”
Mo Xiuchen’s hand suddenly covered her mouth.
The rest of her words were cut off by him. A glimmer of pain passed through his profound eyes, instantly covered by an intense love. He gazed at her passionately and said explicitly, “Ranran, we will spend the rest of our lives together.”
A complicated look passed through Wen Ranqing’s clear eyes. Mo Xiuchen’s voice paused slightly before he continued softly, “Ranran, trust in your brother and your father, believe in medical science, believe in miracles.”
“Yes.”
Wen Ran nodded gently, her face adorned with a comforting smile.
She knew that Mo Xiuchen didn’t want to hear her talk about death. She also didn’t wish to contemplate such cruelty.
However, that was the reality.
If her father couldn’t find a cure, she wouldn’t live long.
Fu Jingyi may be a lunatic, but he was indeed a medical genius. The unknown virus he had developed was just as he had hoped—starting to revive and take effect inside her.
“Ranran, from now on, I’ll be with you every step of the way. Next week, I’ll accompany you and your father abroad. As long as you obediently undergo treatment, you will recover,” he asserted.
Although his voice was low, the determination in his words was calming.
For some reason, Wen Ran inexplicably believed his words. All the sadness and worries she had felt disappeared into his tender and firm pronouncement.
She raised her hand to move his hand from her mouth and said softly, “Mo Xiuchen, promise me one thing, okay?”
“What is it?”
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes flashed with a glint as he looked at her tenderly. He had a guess about what she’d say, and his heart ached.
As expected, after a moment of silence, Wen Ran lowered her head. “I promise not to say I’ll leave or actually leave you again, but things can’t return to how they were before. I can no longer fulfill my duty as a wife.”
She raised her eyes to his face again, looking a bit nervous. Seeing no change in his expression, she then said lightly, “I know you have your needs. I don’t mind if you find other women.”
At her words, Mo Xiuchen’s gaze darkened instantly.
