Chapter 558: Panic 557
Chapter 558: Panic 557
“Miss Wen, don’t be upset. Young Master Mo will definitely be okay.”
The business van was speeding along the broad city road, heading towards the direction of the MS Group. The driver was Qing Yang. In the front passenger seat, Qing Feng turned his head to look at Wen Ran in the back seat. Her face was stricken with grief and her hands were clenched tightly together. He couldn’t help but softly comfort her.
Just a moment ago, he had called Mo Xiuchen; however, the mobile phone was turned off. Wen Ran had become distracted ever since he made that call.
Wen Ran’s anxious and worried thoughts were interrupted by Qing Feng’s words. She suddenly raised her head and looked at Qing Feng, whispering, “I don’t know if my brother has found Mo Xiuchen yet. I will give him a call.”
With that said, she quickly pulled out her mobile phone again. Seeing this, Qing Feng quickly said, “Miss Wen, if Doctor Gu has already arrived at the scene, he must be busy trying to save Young Master Mo. Your call could potentially disrupt him…”
He didn’t finish his sentence before receiving a fierce glare from Qing Yang besides him.
What was he even saying? It was clear how worried Miss Wen was, yet his words implied that Young Master Mo was definitely injured.
“Miss Wen, if Doctor Gu has seen Young Master Mo, he will notify you as soon as possible,” Qing Yang turned to look at Wen Ran in the back seat, his tone gentle.
“…”
Wen Ran didn’t reply, she just gripped her mobile phone tightly, her heart was in chaos, it felt as if a thousand horses were charging. Upon hearing what Qing Feng said, intense guilt set in.
She felt that Mo Xiuchen’s car accident was her fault. If not for her insistence on leaving, Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t have resigned from the position of president so hastily. If they had not argued the night before, he wouldn’t have rushed back home. If not for…
The more she thought about it, the more she blamed herself.
“Wen Ran, you consider yourself deeply in love with Mo Xiuchen, you believed that your decision to leave him was for his own good. However, now he has been in a car accident as a result. If something happens to him…”
“No, that won’t happen. He won’t get hurt. He told me he would stay with me until the very last moment, even if I were to leave early….”
It was as if there were two little people arguing in her heart, continuing until the sharp sound of her ringing phone brought her out of her thoughts. She opened her eyes instantly, staring fearfully at the vibrating phone in her hand.
The call was from Gu Kai.
Her hand was trembling uncontrollably as she answered the phone very quickly and desperately said, “Older Brother Gu, have you found Mo Xiuchen?”
“Ranran, come to the hospital first.”
On the other end of the phone, Gu Kai’s voice positioned heavy and suppressed. It seemed to be a heavy stone crushing her heart. Her face paled, her heart stopped, and she became blank.
Gu Kai made no explanations; his voice heavy with regret and faint traces of sadness caused her first thought to be that something had happened to Mo Xiuchen.
Something really happened to him. The image of Mo Xiuchen lying bloody on the operating table suddenly flashed in front of her eyes. Her grip on her phone trembled violently, and her body began to shake as well.
Just after Gu Kai finished speaking, without giving her a chance to ask anything, he hung up the phone.
Wen Ran wanted to ask about Mo Xiuchen’s condition but when she saw the ended call, she felt as if she had plummeted into a bottomless abyss.
“Qing Yang, go to Kangning Hospital immediately.”
Wen Ran’s voice was shaky and sharp.
“Yes, Miss Wen.”
Qing Yang looked at Wen Ran through his rearview mirror, her face was pale, her eyes filled with tears. There was intense worry and fear between her brows. His heart shook, quickly turning the steering wheel and driving towards the hospital.
When the car arrived at Kangning Hospital, Wen Ran had already unbuckled her seatbelt and run out before the car even came to a stop. Qing Feng and Qing Yang glanced at each other, then each opened their doors and quickly got out of the car.
Wen Ran’s heartbeat pounded with the prayer that Mo Xiuchen was safe.
She ran into the hospital, where a nurse immediately approached her, saying that Doctor Gu was in the operating room and requested she go with the nurse.
Wen Ran grabbed the nurse’s wrist and asked nervously, “How is Mo Xiuchen?”
“Miss Wen, please come with me first. Doctor Gu will explain everything.” The nurse flickered a glance at her, her voice was gentle.
Wen Ran’s heart sank again.
She followed the nurse to the elevator and took it to the surgical floor. When the doors opened, her legs felt weak. A few meters away, Gu Kai was quickly approaching her.
“Ranran, you’re here.”
Wen Ran stared blankly at the blood stains on Gu Kai’s white coat. The stains were terribly glaring against the pure white of the coat. Seeing his furrowed brows and solemn face, Wen Ran’s heart suddenly became tight, unable to breathe.
“Where’s Xiuchen?”
It took her a lot of effort to utter those three words, whether it was the depressing atmosphere of the hospital or the blood stains on him that brought out her fear, she grabbed Gu Kai’s arm as soon as she spoke.
There was an expression of sympathy in Gu Kai’s eyes, he pursed his lips and refrained from answering her question, instead saying, “Ranran, Xiuchen said you were determined to leave him.”
Wen Ran was taken aback, her eyes were dazed as she looked at Gu Kai.
She didn’t understand why he was telling her this when all she wanted to know was how Mo Xiuchen was doing.
Seeing her look of confusion, Gu Kai continued, “Ranran, since you’ve already decided to leave him, don’t be sad anymore. No matter what his current condition is, don’t change your decision.”
As he spoke, Gu Kai’s tone suddenly became heavy. Wen Ran’s eyes widened in disbelief, “Brother, what the hell happened to Mo Xiuchen?”
She suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head, then in her heart. Was Gu Kai hinting that Mo Xiuchen’s condition was not optimistic? So, he didn’t want her to be sad.
How could she not be sad?
Gu Kai didn’t say anything, but there was an overwhelming sadness in his eyes. His eyes also seemed to be moist, looking at Wen Ran with heartache.
“Ranran, Xiuchen, he…”
His voice was very soft, very slow, each word was hard to say.
Wen Ran’s heart was hanging in the air, her tearful eyes were firmly fixed on Gu Kai, her mind became blank with every slow word he spoke. However, before Gu Kai could finish speaking, Wen Ran’s saw out of the corner her eye the operating room door opened. Two nurses rolled out Mo Xiuchen from inside.
She abruptly stopped breathing, her heart felt like it had been sucked empty.
Because, Mo Xiuchen’s face was the only thing showing, everything below his neck was covered by a glaring white cloth!
The cloth had just been put on and was not neatly arranged. One of the nurses was trying to cover Mo Xiuchen’s face with the cloth. Wen Ran swayed, but Gu Kai by her side quickly supported her, shouting with heartache, “Ranran!”
