Chapter 466: 465 won’t let you die directly

“We weren’t whispering about anything, you guys just didn’t come in,”

Wen Ran shot Mo Xiuchen a playful look, he laughed and stepped in, followed by Luo Haofeng.

“Where is my brother?”

Seeing that they were the only ones present, Wen Ran rose from her chair.

“He’s in Ah Kai’s office. We didn’t know how long you two would be talking, so we were going to drop by later,”

Mo Xiuchen said gently, giving Bai Xiaoxiao a warm look before saying, “Ranran, Ah Feng wanted to have a word with Xiaoxiao. We’ll step out.”

“No need to go,”

Bai Xiaoxiao interrupted Mo Xiuchen. She lifted her head to look at Luo Haofeng’s slightly rigid face, a trace of a smile dancing in her eyes. “Luo Haofeng, thank you for last night.”

The atmosphere changed abruptly at Bai Xiaoxiao’s words.

Luo Haofeng said nothing, his deer-like eyes fixed on her intensely.

As if trying to peer into her heart through her eyes, to discern if her feelings truly matched her words…

Mo Xiuchen’s handsome brows furrowed slightly, barely noticeable. He looked at Wen Ran in question. She returned his gaze, subtly implying to him that Aunt Qiao didn’t take a liking to Luo Haofeng.

She looked at Luo Haofeng, then at Bai Xiaoxiao, and was about to say something when Luo Haofeng issued a casual laugh with a nonchalant tone. “No need to thank me. Xiao Wenqing kidnapped you just to threaten Wen Ran. Even if I did rescue you, you didn’t owe me a thing. Instead, it’s Mo Xiuchen who should thank me.”

“Mo Xiuchen, there’s still a lot of work to do at the company, I’ll head back to put in some overtime. You can take Wen Ran to the police station later, or go straight home if you wish. As for the company, you can come tomorrow.”

Having said this, he turned and left.

Wen Ran tried to stop Luo Haofeng, but found herself at a loss for words.

She caught the flash of sadness in his eyes just now. Despite his usual laid-back demeanor, he didn’t appear too heartbroken, but that brief moment of desolation was enough to stir one’s heart.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s face lost its lightheartedness, bit by bit. Watching Luo Haofeng’s firm figure recede till it vanished at the door of the ward, she lowered her head, staring at the bowl in her hand, her lips tightly pursed.

“Ranran, you should stay here with Xiaoxiao. I’ll drop by the police station and be back here to pick you up,”

Having taken note of Bai Xiaoxiao’s shift in mood, Mo Xiuchen chose not to mention anything about her and Luo Haofeng, and instead asked Wen Ran to accompany her.

“Okay, go ahead.”

Wen Ran nodded gently. After instructing Bai Xiaoxiao to rest, Mo Xiuchen left the ward.

In the ward now remained only Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran. Taking the bowl from Bai Xiaoxiao, Wen Ran refilled it with soup, smiling as she passed it back, “Xiaoxiao, drink some more soup.”

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, “You should have a bowl too. I can’t finish all of this soup by myself.”

Police Station

In the dim light of the room, Mo Xiuchen watched as Xiao Wenqing was led out. A chill passed through his deep, still eyes and the atmosphere around him instantly grew frigid.

Xiao Wenqing looked distraught. Having been interrogated thrice since her capture earlier in the day, she didn’t reveal a single thing but insisted on only meeting Wen Ran.

Seeing that the only one who came was Mo Xiuchen, a trace of coldness flashed in her eyes. Dragging her heavy shackles, she sat down in front of the overpowering Mo Xiuchen, showing no fear.

“Mo Xiuchen, it turns out you’re such a scaredy-cat, not even daring to let Wen Ran see me, huh?”

As soon as she opened her mouth, she started mocking him.

Mo Xiuchen glared at her. Each word he spoke was frosty cold: “You don’t deserve to see Ranran.”

“Haha, I don’t deserve to, or you’re just afraid? Afraid I’ll reveal the truth you’ve been hiding. Mo Xiuchen, no matter how much you try to deceive others or even yourself, it doesn’t change the fact that Wen Ran can’t have children. Unless you find another woman, you’ll never have children in this life.”

Xiao Wenqing was pleased.

Thinking about this made her happy. She had tried to rid Mo Xiuchen of his offspring numerous times in the past but always failed. Who would have thought that fate was on her side? Out of all the women in the world, Mo Xiuchen chose Gu Yan’s daughter to be his wife.

That girl who has been Fu Jingyi’s experimental subject for six years, who saved Mo Xiuchen’s life back then. Xiao Wenqing wasn’t worried about being arrested. She only wanted to witness Wen Ran’s breakdown.

Mo Xiuchen laughed angrily, a coldness in his eyes. One could hear a loud ‘smack’ in the small room.

Followed by Xiao Wenqing’s startled scream. She fell to the ground from the impact, blood flowed from the corner of her mouth, and she felt a tooth dislodge.

Mo Xiuchen who was sitting in front of her a moment ago, now towered over her. His dark eyes stared at her fiercely.

His presence was not just coldness but filled with murderous intent. He was like a hellish Satan that made her shudder.

“Xiao Wenqing, this slap is for my mother. I will retrieve everything you owe me, piece by piece.”

“You…”

Xiao Wenqing’s one side of the face was badly swollen. Opening her mouth caused her pain.

The look in Xiao Wenqing’s eyes towards Mo Xiuchen had completely changed. There was no trace of earlier mockery, just fear.

“Whether you admit your crimes or not, you’ll never be able to walk out of here again in your life. The evidence I have in my hand is enough to keep you locked in for a lifetime. Don’t worry, I won’t let you die outright because that would be too easy for you.”

When Mo Xiuchen arrived, Lu Zhiyan had already informed him that Xiao Wenqing didn’t admit anything.

Xiao Wenqing’s face changed color. She didn’t know if it was a result of pain or fear of the fierceness in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes. She frowned and said coldly, “You think I’ll start getting afraid, just because you said so?”

“Of course you won’t be afraid, or you needn’t be. Because soon, your ex-lover will be keeping you company here.”

A hint of coldness tugged at the corners of Mo Xiuchen’s lips.

“You’re wishing to catch Tianyi? He has already left the country. Not only will you fail to catch him, but he’ll also take revenge for me. Mo Xiuchen, don’t think that going abroad with Wen Ran on a one-month trip can cover up the truth. I guarantee you, within ten days, Wen Ran will know everything.”

A glimmer ran through Mo Xiuchen’s eyes.

Spitting out the fallen tooth and the blood pooling in her mouth, Xiao Wenqing dragged herself off the floor. Her battered face, one side horribly swollen, looked gruesome and terrifying. “The more you wish to live your days out with Wen Ran, the more that will become impossible.”

By the time Mo Xiuchen came to pick Wen Ran up, it was an hour later.

Wen Ran was chatting with Bai Xiaoxiao when she heard him. Turning around, her eyes fell on the tall figure at the entrance. A soft smile stretched on her face. “Xiuchen, you’re back so soon?”

The hospital to the police station was about a ten-minute journey. It would have also taken him some time to see Xiao Wenqing. Just moments ago, she was thinking that he would probably take a while longer to come back.
