Fatal Shot

Chapter 716: Crisis: Ammunitions Running Out!

Chapter 716: Crisis: Ammunitions Running Out!

Da, da, da…

Bazoom!

In the darkness of the Underground City, explosions, gunshots, and Energy skills merged into one.

The two opposing teams, one at the front and the other at the back, continuously exchanged fire. As there were more people at the back than at the front, the attacking force was naturally multiple times denser.

However, although many people chasing from behind, they were unable to catch up with the fleeing people at the front.

Every now and then, the Warrior players at the back would attempt to charge forward with their Alloy Shields, and the people at the front would toss one or two small objects to the ground in retaliation.

With a bang, the whole Underground passageway would either turn white or would throw off black fumes, blocking the teams’ sight and a huge section of the passageway.

The flash grenades didn’t affect the Heavy Armored Warriors as they held Alloy Shields in front of them. Consequently, their heads were hidden behind the shields, thus allowing them to safely continue with their attack.

But the smoke bomb frightened them.

This was due to a wide area being rapidly engulfed by smoke, forming a 10 meter or more region of pitch blackness in the passageway.

Most of the time, the first person to emerge out of the smoky region would be shot in the head by a Sniper bullet, even Heavy Armored Warriors with shields were no exception.

Thus, every time smoke engulfed the area, the Heavy Armored Warriors who were responsible for clearing the path would be on their guard and purposely slow down their movements, hoping that someone would charge out of the smoke-engulfed area and sacrifice their lives.

The Light Armored Warriors—who were originally with lesser responsibility, but with much faster Charge speed than the Heavy Armored Warriors—moved further to the back.

If not for this, they would have caught up with the people at the front earlier on.

Ping!

At a spot around the bend, Feng Luo absorbed the countless bullets fired from the back and turned swiftly to fire a shot, which managed to kill an enemy player.

Then he instantly turned back and hid behind a wall, and green recovery coefficients appeared above his head, enabling him to quickly regain half of his strength back and to recover his remaining health back to full.

“+1,000, +1,000…”

The firepower of the Freedom Flag people was too strong. In just a fraction of a second of showing himself, Feng Luo’s strength was reduced by two-thirds. However, his Light Armored Warrior defense power didn’t decrease much—he had the use of Recovery Force once he was attacked, giving him some few thousands round of health recovery per second.

If it was someone else, even a Warrior player with ten-thousands of health like One Pillar Skyward and My World would be asking for their deaths if they dared to turn back and attack in such a situation.

Luckily, his judgment was, as always, right.

People were taking risks to dive into the Death Desert was indeed for the thing inside the safe.

Therefore, they were willing to give up exploring this Underground ruin, and instead charge to chase and attack Feng Luo and his people.

This was clearly the case because, compared to the unknown ruins, the NPCs’ rewards were more attractive to them.

If people knew that there was a galactic warship that would fetch over 10 pieces of Legendary equipment once handed over to an NPC at a place not more than one kilometer from where they were in another direction of the Underground ruins, they would definitely not have chosen this way.

The chase was still in progress.

But, at the next moment, the situation changed.

Da, da, da…

The front of the Death Star submachine gun in Dan Hen’s hands stretched out, while he stayed hidden in his cover and fired the last string of bullets in the magazine at the chasers.

“I have no more bullets!” he muttered in a low voice.

In the battle with the Wolves and Golden Scorpion people previously, half of his bullets and potions had already been used up. But after going through this chase, they were almost fully used up.

As of the moment, the Death Star in his hands was the submachine gun from Feng Luo’s backpack from Silvermoon City, and its bullets had depleted too.

At another place, Mu Zi, who was panting, reached out and felt that his tactical vest was empty. “I have no more bullets either!”

It was fortunate that the Nightless team had brought as much supplies as they could when they started on their travel through the Death Desert. As a result, they had enough to last them the entire three days of travelling, plus a few hours of battle in the Underground City earlier on.

It wasn’t just Mu Zi and Dan Hen. The few Warrior and Medic players, who made use of firearms to ward off attacks, had almost finished their bullets as well.

Ping!

Feng Luo turned back once again and fired a shot to the back.

He still had sufficient bullets. After all, Snipers consumed less gunpowder, and Feng Luo’s backpack contained an enlarged Agent backpack.

However, although he still had some bullets, he knew that his combat power was about to decrease.

Unfortunately, by then, his Psionic Energy and Force had almost depleted.

His Force was still fine, as he still had a few unused Force potions in his backpack that he could still utilize to replenish a few hundred points the instant he felt he didn’t have the ability to make it.

But his Destruction Psionic Energy eventually became sufficient for the last bullet.

Attacking with Psionic Energy added onto the Sniper bullet had consumed not just a few points or 10 over points, but a few tens of points. The equipment he had on him didn’t enhance the Psionic Energy coefficient. Thus, even if he used it sparingly, it would be able to support only about 10 times.

Since he was without the Destruction Psionic Energy effect, even the Wings of Death together with B-Grade armor-piercing bullets wasn’t able to destroy a Heavy Armored Warrior’s defense, let alone kill a Heavy Armored Warrior with one shot.

As long as he lost the threat of a one-shot killing, the Freedom Flag players behind would definitely be able to charge at them.

“Ten minutes… We must only delay by 10 minutes.”

Mu Zi looked at the time on the projected screen of his Detection wristband with a somber expression on his face.

“Crap, Brother Feng! I’ve detected that there are people approaching from behind,” Mu Zi replied, his expression changing drastically as he pointed at a spot on the projected screen.

On the Recon Meter, from a fork at their side, there were a few white dots moving towards them. If they had caught up and blocked the path, the group would have landed themselves in a situation by which they had enemies both from the front and back.

“They must have found a terminal somewhere, so…,” Dai spoke anxiously.

There was nothing much to say, knowing that it wasn’t just them who obtained information from the terminal at the ruins.

“Retreat and continue running. Then come over here.”

Feng Luo raised up the Wings of Death once more and blindly fired a bullet to the back.

He then quickly reached out and tapped on the Underground City structure map projected from the Detection wristband.

The spot where he had tapped on was marked with a red patch representing danger. There was also a very huge patch of red-colored region which wasn’t very far from where they were, an almost two-minute journey if they didn’t run all-out.

This was…

Mu Zi froze and something came to his mind. Then his eyes lit up.

Desert Nematodes!

Rose Thorns held up her Alloy Shield, which was already full of holes, and ran to the back. After glancing at the spot that Feng Luo had pointed at, her eyes lit up as well.

“Good idea, Brother Feng!”

One Pillar Skyward’s eyes brighten up too.

Desert Nematodes?

Dan Hen, Watermelon Skin, and the others weren’t sure, and, therefore, had some doubts.

“You’ll know when we get there. Everyone, hurry!”

The group started to retreat, while Feng Luo aimed a smoke bomb behind to obstruct the enemies.

This time, he had decided to run straight towards the region in order to prevent the Freedom Flag players from proceeding to their escape route. He was aware of the fact that they had already not much bullets left.

As such, the group didn’t retreat or counterattack as before, but instead, started running away.

Feng Luo threw a few flash grenades and smoke bombs to stop the opponents from running away.

“Why is it they’re no longer counterattacking? I have already thrown two consecutive smoke bombs at them, but no Heavy Armored Warrior has been killed!”

After about a minute, many of the pursuing players started to get suspicious.

“Could it be that Sniper doesn’t have that kind of special black bullet? A bullet that is able to go straight through an Alloy Shield or an Alloy Armor is definitely not a special bullet!”

Some people had some thoughts…

As for the Destruction Psionic Energy, the system log wouldn’t have given a general notification. Thus, they all thought that it was a special black bullet with a one-shot feature that killed the Heavy Armored Warriors.

Once such a thought came up, it made many Warrior players a little impulsive.

When the third smoke bomb thrown by Feng Luo formed a black smoky region, some Heavy Armored Warriors stopped slowing down and charged straight ahead.

Ping!

A Heavy Armored Warrior charging in front was hit by a bullet and fell straight to the ground. A black hole in his Alloy Shield and helmet could be seen.

Immediately, the faces of the Light Armored Warriors who had already engaged Charge changed, and their pace in the darkness slowed down once again.
