Chapter 30 Wounds
Zayne hadn't noticed it himself, but Fallen Fate Online had already put him through events that changed him greatly. His first opponent, the dangerous beast, the Black Wolf had made him experience real fear, but now for unknown reasons, he himself wanted to find opponents who were strong enough to evoke the same emotions in him.
The knights fought fiercely against many monsters, slowly defeating them since dark blood was everywhere as well as the corpses of creepy creatures. However, none of this mattered as the flowers were just beginning to bloom.
"Agh? What's going on?" Roland frowned pulling his sword from the monster's chest when his attention was drawn to the brightly glowing buds.
"Roland, you need to speed up, we have to kill them before their leader wakes up!" Aron exclaimed with a worried expression as his hands were covered in pale blue energy.
Aron had been to Chaos Hearth many times, so he knew better than anyone else when a monster leader could engage in battle. It was a combat experience that even Roland did not have.
'There are seven monsters left... Most of the knights are already wounded, so I and Harald will have to deal with them alone. Well, with Aron's help, we can definitely do it!' Roland said inwardly as he directed his mana to his sword. They didn't have much time, so they had to act as fast as they could.
Harald and Roland looked at each other, nodded to each other, and rushed forward while blue chains emerged from the ground, restraining the seven monsters.
"Good job! If they don't move, we can easily kill them!" Roland spoke in excitement as he swung his sword, cutting the two monsters in two, diagonally as the halves of the monsters' bodies slowly slid down.
"Hah, it's too easy with these chains!" Harald ran up to the two monsters, pierced their chests with his palms like spears, and crushed their hearts.
Only three monsters survived, so Roland and Harald ran at them sharply. The monsters tried to break free of their chains, but they seemed indestructible.
'Shit!' Aron's eyes widened as he felt a sharp pain attack. He clutched at his heart and with a painful look fell to one knee unable to stand on his feet any longer while trickles of blood flowed from the corners of his mouth.
"ROOOOOOOAAAARRRRR!!!" The monsters roared furiously as several chains broke, partially releasing them from capture.
'What...? Why did this happen?' Roland was puzzled as his eyes went wide, 'Even Hobgoblin couldn't break Aron's chains! Shit! Aron has reached his limit!
Roland realized it was too late since one of the monsters had already managed to break the chains and was tearing at him, waving his long arms.
Crackle.
The monster's claws passed through Roland's armor with ease, leaving three deep cuts on his chest from which blood gushed.
"Argh!" Roland clenched his teeth in pain as he prepared to attack, but suddenly he noticed that the monster's second hand was already rushing toward his head with glowing crystal claws, 'Shit! I don't have time!'
A chill ran down Roland's spine as he prepared himself that his life might be over now, but he was lucky he wasn't fighting alone.
"Roooooaaaarrrrr!!!" The monster cried out in agony since a massive crystal arrow just ripped off its arm which should have killed Roland.
Roland had no time to think, so he gripped the sword tightly with both hands and swung from top to bottom with all his might, splitting the monster in two perfectly horizontally.
"Agh... That was damn close." Roland muttered with a pale face as he breathed heavily. He got goosebumps since he realized that if it weren't for Elin's help, he'd be dead already.
There were two more monsters left that Harald was running towards at full speed, they had already gotten out of their chains and were about to attack him, but Harald was faster.
"Get it!" Harald clenched his hand into a fist covered in red energy as he punched the monster in the jaw, literally knocking it out. The second monster was quite close, so Harald sharply attacked again, hoping to kill it, but the monster dodged at the last moment.
'What the hell...? Were they that fast before?' Harald's eyes went wide as he abruptly turned around, kicking the monster in the knee.
Crackle.
That swift kick easily broke the monster's leg, but it wasn't enough to stop the monster, who was so desperate to do any damage, so the monster swung his hand sharply.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ Harald's pupils narrowed as his only option was to parry the attack with his palm which left deep bleeding cuts on his arm.
"Fuck! You bastard is already dead!" Harald exclaimed angrily, bringing his fist down on the monster's head about to crush it like a hammer strike.
The monster realized what was waiting for it, so it put its arms out in front of it, hoping to defend itself, but Harald's fist just destroyed the crystals into tiny shards, crushing the monster's skull with great force.
"ARGH!!!" Harald cried out in pain holding onto his palm, "Shit! It is broken! One of my hands is now useless as the other is wounded! Bastard!"
Harald was furious as he crushed the monster's head with his foot and tossed the monster's corpse aside, looking at it as if he could burn the monster.
"Dr. Harald!" Amelia exclaimed with a worried expression, "Your wounds must be treated immediately! You should cancel your skill!"
"Yeah... I know." Harald nodded as the red energy gradually disappeared from his palms, then many small scratches appeared on his hands from which blood flowed. Harald gained tremendous power when he used his skill, but if he overstepped his limits, he damaged himself.
Amelia quickly pulled out a bandage and ointment and began bandaging Harald's wounded hands with a complicated look.
'This is terrible! If Harald kept fighting at this rate, his hands might get more serious wounds that would take months to repair or he might lose them at all!' Amelia inwardly exclaimed with fear in her heart as she bit her lip. She didn't want Harald to keep fighting, but she knew that was impossible, just not for a man like him.
The sight of Amelia's frown made Harald smile bitterly, 'Damn, I was very lucky to have an assistant after all. I hope she won't have to worry so much about me again anytime soon.'
The battle was over and Roland as commander quickly looked around the battlefield. Aron, he, Harald, and all the knights without exception were wounded, but still alive.
'Fine, apparently I was luckier than the others, the wound on my chest stings badly, but it does not prevent me from fighting.' Roland inwardly muttered as his gaze caught on Zayne and his eyes went wide, 'Wait... Has Zayne not been in the fight? Is he afraid? No, it can't be, then why is he standing still as if he's waiting for something...?'
Crackling.
At the same moment, dozens of flowers bloomed brightly illuminating the entire cave with a purple, almost red light as the tailed one finally awoke from its sleep, harshly opening its three eyes with vertical pupils, whose gaze immediately turned to Zayne.
"Hah, you've kept me waiting long enough." Zayne smirked, clutching his blade tightly as his eyes sparkled, "Go ahead, show me the face of terror again!"
