Chapter 134:

Chapter 134

Bombs flew over the other side of the flower field, exploding with a deafening noise upon impact. Gunfire and clamorous sounds permeated the area. The sustained explosions and gunshots caused Seo Gangrim discomfort, his ears aching.

'What's happening?'

Seo Gangrim was momentarily confused by the scene, which was not what he expected. The beautiful garden was just a small part of the landscape, as numerous flowers had been destroyed, and blood covered the ground.

The shells were predominantly aimed at the demon beasts, and as a result, they bore the brunt of the attack.

-Kraaaaah!

The fence, made of chain links, prevented many demons from advancing, even though they made several attempts to do so. Some tried to jump over it, but each time they failed as they turned into fireballs and were pushed back.

Seo Gangrim looked around, confused when he heard rough voices.

"What's happening? Who is that person?"

"Who's that guy?"

As he turned, he noticed a bunch of teenagers dressed in modern military gear standing on a barricade they had built. The oldest member looked no more than fifteen years old at best.

'What is this building?'

Moments ago, he was in Lord Seifa's divine realm, which had a traditional Eastern ambiance. The structure in front of him was modern, heavily fortified with barricades, bazookas, and even a Gatling gun.

'This isn't the right place'

Demons rushed towards Seo Gangrim from behind, while bullets poured from the structure.

Realizing that being caught in the center would result in a certain death, he immediately ran towards the building. In this particular scenario, he was more likely to be killed by a shell than by the demons.

"I'm here for Lord Seifa! Open the door!"

"What? Lord Seifa?"

People looked concerned as they heard Lord Seifa mentioned. The door still didn't budge.

Noises grew louder from behind them. Without warning, the chain-link fence suddenly collapsed with a whoosh. As he turned around, he saw that it hadn't just broken, but wholly collapsed under the weight of several demon beasts.

"Darn it, shoot! We need to kill them all!"

The shouts from above indicated that they didn't care about Seo Gangrim's presence. The charging beasts were hit by bullets and fireballs and fell, ignoring their deceased comrades.

-Krrrrr!

The door remained closed. Suddenly, malevolent creatures burst into the center of the flower garden, advancing towards Seo Gangrim.

He attempted to call forth his spirit beasts but encountered the same result as before.

[Access denied for unauthorized guests!]

With no aid from his spirit beasts, Seo Gangrim unsheathed his Chiljido immediately.

"I didn't expect to fight so soon after arriving."

The swarm of monsters rushing toward him appeared as numerous as the flowers in the garden. He needed to clarify the situation before talking to the people at Seochon Flower Garden.

He charged into the incoming swarm of demon beasts.

[Ability 'Fighting Instinct' activated!]

[Ability 'Frostfire Flames' activated!]

The picturesque scenery of flowers vanished from Seo Gangrim's sight, leaving only enemies. He swung his Chiljido as he dashed around the burning flower garden.

-AAAARGH!

Suddenly, blue flames flickered into existence and engulfed the enemies. Beautiful icicles bloomed and froze the enemies, revealing white bones that resembled tree branches.

As the demon beasts howled, blue flames swirled around them, burning and freezing them simultaneously. When the ground solidified, hampering their movement, the army of the Seochon Flower Garden increased their artillery barrage.

"Fire! Use all available firepower!"

The ground echoed with screams, while the sky was filled with the sounds of artillery fire.

Running like a madman, Seo Gangrim slashed, stabbed, and tore his way through the demon beasts with his sword.

As he thrust his sword into the giant elephant-shaped demon beast in front of him, Seo Gangrim felt a sense of discomfort.

'Why aren't they retreating?'

In just a few minutes, dozens of demon beasts had been slain. With such firepower, the enemies ought to have acknowledged the gap and either retreated or backed down, yet the demon beasts showed neither fear nor hesitation, only a primal desire for devastation.

'This isn't normal.'

If that was the case, there was no alternative but to eradicate them all. He drove his sword into the heart of the one whose legs were frozen and quickly moved to eliminate the rest.

He repeated the procedure, slicing through flesh, dropping it, and then watching blood flowers bloom over and over again...

"Who is that guy?"

"How can he single-handedly kill that many...!"

Soon, the location was littered with heaps of demon beast corpses. The barrage of shells and bullets from the Seochon Flower Garden, which had been like a hailstorm, gradually diminished until the attacks ceased. No demon beasts remained alive.

A figure resembling a commander shouted in bewilderment,

"C-Clearing complete...!"

"Where is that human? Is he dead?"

In Seochon Flower Garden, people searched frantically for Seo Gangrim. While using his binoculars to scan the surroundings, a young soldier exclaimed with delight, "There! He's over there!"

A person, drenched in blood from head to toe, stood amidst the corpses of demon beasts. The individual's blood-soaked hair, clothes, and face made him appear more like a demon or magical beast than a human being. Seo Gangrim was unfazed by the stares and continued scanning the area.

'Now, it seems like everything is finally in order. The number was enormous.'

After nearly an hour of battle, all the demon beasts had been dealt with, and he piled up considerable achievements as a result.

After a long while, he received a notification for an automatic increase in stats.

[Strength] Level 54.

[Vitality] Level 50,

[Agility] Level 52,

[Sense] Level 53,

[Magic Power] Level 55

It was a favorable outcome.

After wiping the blood from his face, Seo Gangrim gazed up at the fortress wall and requested, "Will you please open the door?"

Though hesitant for a moment, they eventually complied and opened the door. The door, made of thick steel plates, appeared quite sturdy, and it was clearly able to endure multiple attacks from the demon beasts, with dents and grooves visible all over.

'It appears to have been in this state for some time.'

As he entered the courtyard at a leisurely pace, the children inside stared at him with fascination. While they didn't appear to be suitable for combat, their eyes radiated a level of professionalism.

'Do these children work in Seochon Flower Garden?'

Seo Gangrim quietly observed them.

At that moment, a person who looked about fifteen years old approached. It was the commander who had been standing on the barricade just before.

"Please identify yourself."

"I am Seo Gangrim."

"Seo Gangrim, the winner of the Zodiac Race?"

The mention of Seo Gangrim's name caused a buzz of excitement among the children. Apparently, they were all familiar with him. Meanwhile, the commander remained calm.

"This is a place where ordinary humans are not supposed to come. How did you get here?"

"As I mentioned earlier, I came through the introduction of Lord Seifa."

Upon hearing the name Lord Seifa, the commander appeared surprised, yet dubious. "Contact Lord Seifa and verify if this individual was sent by him," he ordered a communications soldier.

"Yes, understood," the soldier replied.

After a short wait, the communication officer returned with news confirming the identity of the human sent by Lord Seifa. The commander's expression softened somewhat, but his tone remained cautious.

"Hold on. I need to report this."

He picked up the terminal and made contact.

"Flower Supervisor, a human has entered. Lord Seifa sent him but as a matter of principle... Yes? Alright."

After the brief call, the commander turned to Seo Gangrim.

"Flower Supervisor said to let you in. Follow me."

Seo Gangrim nodded silently and followed the commander into the building. Inside, the facilities seemed more futuristic than what was visible from outside. They resembled a laboratory, rather than a flower garden.

The commander then opened the door to an inner office and said, "Flower Supervisor, I have brought Seo Gangrim."

The man in the white gown turned around in response. Although all the soldiers present looked like children, he appeared as an adult male figure, with a face that seemed fatigued.

"Are you Seo Gangrim? I am Sara Doryeong, the Flower Supervisor of this place."

While he too was a god, he didn't hold the same imposing nature as the Zodiac Gods. Nonetheless, complacency was not an option.

After settling into his own seat, Sara Doryeong motioned for Seo Gangrim to take a seat as well. The cluttered office quickly became organized as they both took their seats.

"Would you like some coffee?"

"No, thank you," replied Seo Gangrim.

"Alright. I wasn't in the mood to make any anyway."

After saying so, Sara Doryeong gave Seo Gangrim a thorough look. His gaze showed a considerable interest.

"Report has it that you slaughtered all the demon beasts outside?"

"Yes."

"I've heard many rumors, but... You seem stronger than I thought. I even considered betting on you."

It seemed Sara Doryeong also placed bets on the Zodiac Race. After uttering his statement, he scrutinized Seo Gangrim with the focus of a scientist, then inquired:

"By the way, what brings you here?"

"I came to pick up some flowers."

"Oh? What kind of flowers?"

"I need Blood Flower, Bone Flower, and Flesh Flower."

Among the special flowers that grew in the Seocheon Flower Garden, those three were capable of healing severe injuries. The Blood Flower healed blood, the Bone Flower restored bones, and the Flesh Flower repaired flesh as their names implied. Through the use of these three flowers, Shin Sooah's arm could be regenerated.

"How does a human know about those flowers? Did Lord Seifa tell you?"

"Something like that."

"Even if Lord Seifa sent you, humans are not typically given those flowers on principle."

Sara Doryeong's tone was quite stern.

Seo Gangrim, not expecting to easily obtain the flowers, remained undisturbed. He looked at Sara Doryeong and spoke.

"It's not that you refuse to give me the flowers, but rather, there are currently no flowers available to give, correct?"
