Chapter 14 One Star Point for Uncle Ji 2
14 One Star Point for Uncle Ji 2
Feng Tianyi wheeled his wheelchair out of the elevator while the twins walked closely next to him. Behind him, their bodyguard looked around, checking for any signs of dangers that could harm the little buns, but there was none.
They were on the 20th floor of the North Star apartment complex, which was several blocks away from the cafe where Feng Tianyi and the twins meet every morning.
The apartment complex looked normal and decent. Although Feng Tianyi could stay with his mother in her mansion, he valued peace and quiet and preferred to live a simple life, away from everyone's prying eyes.
For someone who'd known the previous Feng Tianyi, they wouldn't believe that this man sitting in a wheelchair was the same man who terrorized their lives and destroyed the businesses they worked hard to build for years single-handedly.
Feng Tianyi unlocked the door of his apartment and let the twins and the bodyguard in. The twins looked around his place while he went to the kitchen to check his fridge, thinking of a meal he could cook for his guests.
"This is where you live, Uncle?" Xiao Bao asked curiously.
"En, this is where I live." Feng Tianyi said.
Xiao Bao then checked the stack of books in his living area. He was reading the cover of a couple of books placed on the coffee table.
"Qin Jiran? Is this your name, Uncle?"
Feng Tianyu hummed. It was actually the pen name he used for his books.
"Ah, so the unnamed uncle is called Uncle Ji!" Little Star laughed.
The apartment was more than enough for a man like Feng Tianyi. Everything he needed was here and if there's anything else he might need, his cousin Song Fengyan was just next door to help him out.
It was almost dinner time and they have waited for a long time at the ER while he was treated for a mild burn.
"Do any of you have any allergies or the sort? I'm going to cook dinner," he called out to the little buns who are literally roaming around his home.
"Nothing, Uncle Ji!" Xiao Bao responded with a wide grin in his face.
"Uh, great, now I'm Uncle Ji," Feng Tianyi muttered to himself and allowed the children to look around while he busied himself preparing their meals.
He might be crippled, but Feng Tianyi was still able to make his own meals, bathe himself and do basic household chores without someone else's assistance. So far from the evil and cruel businessman he was, before losing his ability to walk five years ago.
"Uncle Ji, do you live alone?" Little Star joined him in the kitchen and watched him curiously as he cut the vegetables.
"Yes, but my cousin is living next door, so I'm not really alone," he said.
"Ah, I see Uncle Ji, but don't worry. You won't be alone now. You have me and Yu Gege to take care of you." Little Star's eyes turned to a pair of inverted crescent moons as she smiled widely at Feng Tianyi.
Feng Tianyi sighed inwardly.
'Here we go again,' he thought.
However, he couldn't find it in himself to dislike these two cute little buns. Just the mere thought of making them upset or cry troubled him. He couldn't understand why he felt this way towards these naughty children himself.
"Alright, why don't you go back to your brother first and play for a while. Uncle needs to cook now and I'm afraid you might get hurt if you stand near me." He told Little Star.
Little Star agreed and slipped down from her seat at the dining table, her pattering feet reached Feng Tianyi's ears, hearing her call for her elder brother.
Feng Tianyi sighed and started working in his kitchen. It was a good thing that the counters and the stoves were high enough for him to work around, even if he was stuck in his wheelchair.
He'd been cooking and preparing his meals himself since his accident, and was quite confident of his cooking skills. Since people avoided his company, Feng Tianyi was already used to doing some things on his own and that included cooking his own meals.
In just an hour, Feng Tianyi managed to finish preparing three dishes and a steaming soup that he and the children could share. He set the table and called for the little buns for dinner.
When the two mischievous kids entered the kitchen, their nose picked up the wafting scent of delectable dishes their Uncle Ji prepared.
Since he knew he would be cooking for children, Feng Tianyi made sure that the dishes weren't too spicy for these little buns. He made Crispy Orange Chicken, Pork Stir Fry, and Mushroom Pepper Steak. He wasn't sure what these children liked to eat, so he tried random dishes that might stir their appetite.
Even so, Feng Tianyi was worried that the twins wouldn't like what he cooked for them, but his worries were for naught, because the little buns were really delighted to see home-cooked meals prepared for them by their favorite Uncle Ji.
"Woah, Uncle Ji! Amazing! We didn't know you could cook!" Little Star exclaimed.
"En, they look delicious, don't they, Little Star?" Xiao Bao grinned at his sister. He mentally added a one-star point for Uncle Ji as a candidate for their Mommy's future husband.
Feng Tianyi laughed weakly. He wasn't sure if these two were just trying to make him feel good or they really don't have much experience with home-cooked meals. After all, these two seemed like they came from a wealthy family, given the way they dress and how they act temperamental around other people.
Given that their mother could afford to hire their own bodyguard, doesn't that mean she was able to feed both of them high quality restaurant meals? He wondered if these little buns had their own executive chef working for them back at home.
"Now, now, you don't need to tease me. Why don't you give it a try first and see if you like the taste?" He told the twins who had already taken their spots across him at the dining table, looking at the dishes he cooked with wide eyes.
"Tell me if you don't like it, it's still early and I can call for delivery for dinner," he added.
Instead of giving them chopsticks that were too long for their small hands to use, Feng Tianyi placed spoons and forks next to their bowls. He then added pieces of meat on top of their rice before gesturing to the two to start eating before him, to which they happily obliged.
Xiao Bao and Little Star picked up their spoon at the same time and scooped enough meat and rice into their mouths. They chewed slowly as if savoring the taste in their mouths.
Feng Tianyi tried to suppress the smile threatening to spread on his lips as he watched these two little buns puff their cheeks as they eat. He shook his head and was about to eat with them when suddenly, the doorbell in his apartment rang, indicating a new guest had arrived at his door.
