Chapter 181: The Battle - Part 1
With the lantern in the sky, all the men surrounding the store sprung to action. However, before they could storm into the stores, the entrance door was opened, and they came out.
Ten attendants came out. They looked at the various men surrounding their store with a calm expression.
This scene was happening all around their stores in Baiyun city. Their enemies expected them to be in a passive position but never expected the Celestial Heavenly store would dare confront them in the open.
Besides, looking at the ten attendants, all in the Qi Refinement realm, they were astounded. Where was the powerful expert protecting the stores?
Though they were flabbergasted by the mere sight of ordinary Qi Refinement warriors, it was only momentary before they pounced on them like wolves.
"Kill them and don't leave their corpses intact." A male voice commanded from the darkness.
Since there wasn't any powerful expert, the Foundation Building realm among the enemies stood back, allowing the Qi Refinement warriors among them to do the job.
The mercenaries happily obliged and attacked the ten attendants.
Looking at the tens of attacks rushing toward them, the attendants looked at each other and whispered, "Let the counting begin."
Whoosh!
They moved at the same time. Their armor shone a blue light, skyrocketing their aura. Instantly, a heavy pressure fell on the mercenaries. A deep shock appeared on their faces as they tried to stop their movement.
Unfortunately, since the battle had started, there was no turning back. The ten attendants appeared right in front of them with gleaming menacing swords.
Bang!
Ah!
Blood splashed on the face of a young man, and he screamed in panic, watching the gruesome death of the person standing right beside him.
A female cleaved the man into two before slicing his head off his neck. Everything happened in a blink. Before the young man screaming could recover from his shock, a powerful sword light was traveling toward his chest.
He managed to reverse from his trance and twisted his body to the side, avoiding the deadly attack by an inch. Unfortunately, his left arm couldn't survive the onslaught.
Ah!
Another anguished scream escaped from his mouth when the pain of losing his arm registered to his brain. Blood gushed out from his cleaved shoulder.
He gasped for air and retreated with trembling legs.
The attendant saw she didn't kill his target in one swift attack and followed with another deadly strike.
This time, she made sure to hit her target.
The blinding sword light traveled toward the young man's chest at an incredible speed that was impossible for the eyes to follow.
Before the young man could realize what was going on, his head was separated from his body.
He only came to join the battle for a chance to get a cultivation manual promised by the top clans, only to meet his end.
This type of scene appeared at the center of the street.
Various screams of anguish filled the air. The calm night echoed with cries that make the heart pound heavily.
The air was filled with the thick stench of blood. Those in the dark watching the battle were stupefied by the sudden killing of their men.
They've planned for various scenarios and how to handle them but they never saw this coming.
The ten attendants were like killing machines. Each of their attacks was deadly and precise.
Besides, their armor augmented their attack to another degree that made it impossible for ordinary people to grasp.
Bang!
A tall man was split into two, and his heavy hammer fell to the ground, creating a deep sound.
In the presence of the ten attendants, their enemies were targets for their weapons.
No matter their cultivation, their enemies were handled in less than three strikes.
Besides, their movement skill was top-notch which those in the darkness could see.
The hundreds of people that surrounded the stores were being reduced at an alarming rate.
"Spread out!" A voice commanded from the dark.
The panicking men quickly scrambled to spread throughout the street, hoping this would reduce the power of the attendants.
Contrary to their expectation, their situation wasn't any better. It even helped them.
Previously when they were grouped together, they needed to wary of sneak attacks, but now, they don't have to.
"My hand!" A hoarse voice screamed in pain.
His finger was sliced off by a powerful sword attack.
Even though he was a grown man, he cried like a kid and threw down his weapon and turned to escape.
"I surrender. Please, don't kill me." He fell on his knee and begged.
The young man standing right before him didn't even bat an eye at him as he swung his sword.
"W-W-hy" He asked with difficulty and with a look of confusion on his face.
He has surrendered. Why did he still attack him?
He held his neck with both hands, blood flowing out of his neck, dying his hands red.
Thud.
His head fell off from his neck.
The young man looked at the stupid man and clicked his tongue.
He threw the short scene to the back of his mind when he noticed a deadly sneak attack from behind.
Without thinking, he sidestepped using his movement skill, avoiding the deadly sneak attack and turned his body still in motion.
He swung his sword in an arc.
Bang!
A woman in her late thirties was the one that sneak-attacked the young man.
Watching her sneak failing, she wanted to retreat into the darkness and wait for another chance.
Unfortunately, she didn't get the chance. She saw her target avoid her attack by swift movement and performing a deadly attack while he was still in motion.
"I'm dead!" She managed to utter before the sword split her into two.
Thud!
Her body fell into two, with various organs of her body flushing the ground.
In another corner of the street, a young man nocked his bowstring with a poisonous arrow.
He squinted his eyes and looked at the lady fighting in the distance and released the arrow from the bow.
Whoosh!
The arrow traveled at a breathtaking speed and with the cover of the night; it was impossible to see the arrow.
In a blink, it arrived behind the lady.
