"Come, brother. There is one place left we need to visit." Diana's words held an undeniable sense of anticipation, her smile radiant after the engaging conversation they had just shared.
NOD
In response, Callius nodded wordlessly, his agreement evident as he fell in step behind her.
The sun was beginning its descent, casting a gentle golden hue across the sky. The air carried a sense of tranquility, a feeling that matched the current phase of their day – a moment of peaceful culmination.
As they continued walking forward, they soon returned to the capital of the Empire, Aurora City.
"Brother, please put a disguise on," Diana said, looking at the woman of all ages constantly throwing gazes at him. "Gr…. You are taking too much attention."
Callius heard the sound of gritting teeth, but he simply smiled. "You are no different." He answered.
As much as Callius was undeniably one of the most handsome men in the world, Diana was also at the peak in terms of beauty. Her fairy class made it easier for men to feel comfortable looking at her since the instinct to protect would awaken inside them.
The reason this whole time nobody from the side of the men hasn't bothered them was simply. Even though they wanted Diana, nobody could compare themselves with Callius. They didn't have the courage to stand in front of them while, basically, the epitome of perfectness was before them.
The woman was slightly different. Even though Diana was undoubtedly beautiful, there were still those that tried to flirt with him on the first day.
Tried to.
Because before they could even come closer, a bunch of vines would brush them off.
In any case, the reason why Diana wanted him to put on a disguise was not solely because he was handsome.
"I will put one, too," Diana answered. "Here, you can use this." She gave him a small device that would alter their mana signatures and faces at the same time.
'Hmm…She is really prepared for this.' Callius thought and did what he was told. Putting up the disguise, he changed his face to the one Diana showed him in the picture.
"I see. So you want to go there." Callius said, looking at his small pointy ears.
"Yes."
"I won't ask you why."
"You shouldn't."
Diana had a classical elegant looking elven attire, and Callius was the same. As the two left the place, they changed their clothes and returned to the portals.
After a brief talk with the official there, Diana handled the process swiftly without giving any hints that they were not the people of the Elven Race.
'She is certainly talented.' Callius remembered the times he traveled around in disguise in pursuit of strength.
'The time is tight.' As the thoughts of the future were about to occupy his head, he felt a slight elastic feeling on his arm.
"Brother, focus on me now." Diana, who was pushing herself a lot more on him, now spoke.
Hearing Diana's words, he smiled slightly. "Right."
Just like that, they entered the portal, but just as they were traveling, Diana suddenly whispered something.
"...….."
Her words were inaudible, even for Callius, who was close to her.
WHIRL
And following that, suddenly, a vortex enveloped Callius and Diana.
'Ah…Coordinates are changed.' Callius thought, feeling the same thing whenever he stepped into a dungeon.
THUD
As the vortex threw Callius and Diana, both of them landed on the ground without staggering.
A forest greeted them with its ancient whispers and serene beauty. It was a place where time seemed to stand still, and the boundary between the physical world and the spiritual realm was delicate.
The air was filled with the hum of energy, the kind that only existed in places where nature and magic intertwined seamlessly.
Callius was familiar with such a way of spatial manipulation, but seeing Diana was also familiar with it, he understood one fact.
'This is not her first time doing this.' He thought.
"You changed the coordinates of the gate, right?" He asked, looking at Diana.
"Indeed."
"How did you do it?" He wondered. It was really an enigma how she did it since he didn't sense any mana moving at all.
"Secret." As Diana said with a smile, Callius understood this was how she was paying him back for the secrets he had been keeping all the time.
'Well, it would be weird if she was not aware of it anyway.'
"Is that so?" He answered with a light smile.
"You are smiling more often; you know that, brother."
"I know."
At first, the reason why he always acted stern and strict before Diana was his trait [Noblesse], and then it was the desire to keep everything in control.
But now that Callius realized things had already gotten out of control, there was no need for him to restrain himself anymore.
At least before Diana.
"We are close," Diana said as she snuggled him more.
SWOOSH
The soil beneath them started moving as Diana used her nature magic to carry both of them.
The scenery shifted as they moved, creating a mesmerizing visual dance.
The trees grew thicker and taller, gradually obscuring their vision. Shadows intertwined with beams of sunlight, casting intricate patterns on the ground. It was as if the forest was weaving a tapestry of stories from its past.
Callius could see an immense density of mana around here. The trees surrounded them, but before the trees, he could see something elderly and big was there.
He immediately realized where they were, but he still asked.
"Where are we now?"
"You will see soon." However, Diana answered with a cryptical tone, looking at him with a soft smile.
Then, as the trees reluctantly parted, a breathtaking sight emerged before them.
"Wow."
Before they stood a tree unlike any other, its sheer magnitude defying comprehension. Its massive trunk soared toward the heavens, disappearing into a realm unseen. The roots stretched deep into the earth, intertwining with the very fabric of the land. And its branches, adorned with leaves that glimmered with ethereal light, reached upward as if attempting to touch the very stars.
However, what captivated them even more was the presence that emanated from the tree. It was not just a material entity; it was a conduit between realms, a bridge connecting the tangible and the spiritual. The air itself seemed to pulse with life, vibrant and charged with an energy that resonated in the hearts of those who stood before
"The World Tree." He mumbled. Callius was expecting it to be the world tree, but the scene he was seeing right now was not the one he knew from the game.
"How is it?" Diana asked, looking at his face.
"It is beautiful." He couldn't help but exclaim. It was one of the rarest times when his two traits, [Perfectionist] and [Aesthetic Sense], were satisfied this much.
"Diana… This is not the real World Tree, right?" Callius's voice was hushed, filled with a sense of reverence as he gazed upon the breathtaking sight before them.
Diana's smile deepened, and she nodded in affirmation. "You're correct. This is not the material World Tree that stands within our realm. This is the World Tree in the spiritual realm, a place where the boundaries between our world and the realm of spirits intertwine."
"Brother," Diana said as she looked into his eyes.
"Welcome to my world."
