Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 57: In The Clan

Chapter 57: In The Clan

On the fourth floor of the main building, there was a banquet hall that would only be used for family gatherings or important banquets. On the south side of the hall, there was a side hall that could be used for various purposes, and there was a balcony facing Levin Town. Occasionally, small family gatherings would be held here. At dawn, on the balcony, one could enjoy the fascinating scenery of the valley town under the night sky.

As for the north side, there were some lounges. There was no lack of hidden private spaces that could meet the different needs of the guests. Adultery was definitely only one of them, and most of them were used to meet secretly.

Today's party was not held in the hall, but in the south wing of the hall, despite inviting some of the immediate family members and some of Beth Cod's important friends. Alan followed behind Horn and led him through the long corridor to the side hall. When the door opened, whispers and laughter entered his ears.

However, after they entered the hall, all the sounds seemed to have been cut off by the invisible scissors, and they suddenly disappeared without a trace.

Alan looked behind Huo Si. There weren't many people in the hall. There were only a dozen or twenty people in the hall. Most of them were males, followed by females. Most of them were adults, but there were three or four teenage girls around Allen's age. When these people saw Alan, their expressions were different. There were coldness, surprise, indifference, and undetectable resentment.

One of the big boys had the most obvious expression. When he saw Alan, he was like a bull that was going crazy, and his eyes were red.

Allen didn't have any expression on his face as he calmly responded to all of these people's reactions. However, his gaze would always inadvertently fall on a few middle-aged men. The faces of these four men were very similar to his mother, Lanny. They should be Horn's sons.

"Old friend, long time no see." An old man of the same age as Hua Jia walked forward first. He was dressed appropriately, his eyes were bright, and he embraced Horn affectionately.

Horn patted him on the back and said to Alan, "Let me introduce him. This is Mr. Kate. The Morsons are important friends of ours, and Kate and I have known each other for decades. The Morsons are famous for their business. Alan, you should ask Mr. Kate more about things you don't understand in business in the future."

"Not at all. Our Morsen Clan's trade volume is less than half of yours. How dare you call it famous for its merchandise?" Old Kate said humbly.

"Grandpa Horn, who is this pretty boy? Why don't you introduce him to me?" A cheerful voice interrupted.

Horn laughed while Kate had a headache. Alan's eyes lit up and a beautiful girl squeezed into their midst. The girl's light brown hair tied up high, revealing a smooth and plump forehead. A pair of pitch-black eyes were like high-grade gemstones, reflecting everything in this world. Her facial features were exquisite, her lips were full and red, and she was young, but she could already tell that she was a beauty.

The most special thing was that she was clearly a girl, but she was wearing a hunting suit. Brown leather leaned back, a white shirt with a lace collar, black trousers accentuated her slender legs, and her last pair of hunting boots made her look wild.

Her eyebrows were slightly thicker than an ordinary girl's, so when they were raised in unison, they would always give this girl a hint of arrogance.

"This is Adele, Kate's granddaughter, the pearl of the Morsons. If Alan has the chance in the future, he can get closer to Adele." Horn said indifferently.

Adele looked Ellen up and down seriously, stretched out her tongue and gently swept her lips, and said meaningfully, "There will be a chance."

Allen felt uncomfortable for a moment. The special girl looked at him like she was looking at a fresh and delicious cake.

God knows why he felt that way.

Horn then continued to introduce Alan to some of his friends who had dealings with Bethcock. Although these people weren't from a famous clan, they could be considered influential in Babylon. However, when introducing them, Horn did not have the enthusiasm he had when he talked to Kate.

And finally, Horn's four sons.

The eldest son, Roddy, was already forty years old. He was over two meters tall and had a sturdy body. Even if he was dressed in an exquisite gown, it was as ridiculous as a bear wearing a robe. However, the fierce aura from his body, such as that of the Scorching Sun Desert, made people unable to laugh out loud. With a beard that was like a steel needle, the man looked at Alan with a sharp gaze, as if he wanted to pierce through him with his gaze.

Alan stared straight into his eyes. Even though Roddy had been staring at him for a long time and his face had begun to turn pale, he didn't avoid it at all.

A moment later, a bright smile gradually appeared on the man's face. "Very well, it has been a long time since the little fellow dared to look at me like this. Welcome back, Lanny's son."

As he spoke, he slapped Alan's body and almost sent him flying. Alan was also shocked. Horn hadn't made it public yet, but they seemed to already know their identities.

It wasn't long before Alan found out that Roddy had been a fierce general of Bescot during his years of war in the Outer Realm. His hands were stained with blood, and the killing intent in his eyes was not something an ordinary person could withstand.

Next was Second Huck. He and Big Brother Roddy were the two ends of the scale. Roddy was tall and mighty, while Huck was thin and weak. His face was pale and sickly. In fact, he coughed lightly from time to time when he was talking. Huck was weak and sickly, and his body had a congenital defect. This prevented him from conquering the foreign lands like Roddy, so he could only take charge of some administrative matters.

He spoke elegantly and behaved appropriately, but his eyes were always indifferent. In his eyes, Alan couldn't see himself, or even nothing.

Third Bell was a tall, handsome man. But it would be a big mistake to classify him and Huck as weak. He also had a special aura. Standing beside him, Alan seemed to be standing at the peak of a snow mountain. Even the air passing by him was filled with a bone-chilling chill. Bale had a pair of enchanting blue eyes, but the blue was not the blue of the sea or the sky, but the icy blue that caused one's soul to freeze!

He spoke politely to Allen, and expressed his deep regret when he spoke of Lanny. But in his eyes, Alan couldn't see a trace of regret. This was a man whose heart was as cold as ice, leaving Alan with an impression of ruthlessness and unkindness.

Horn's last son, Hyderick, was a very handsome man. Of his four sons, the outline was the most similar to Horn's. Hyderick, in his early thirties, was only two years older than Alan's mother, and his handsome face always carried a hint of melancholy and poetic temperament. It seemed that because of his best relationship with Lanny, his attitude towards Alan was much more friendly than the other brothers.

This man was also the only one of Horn's four sons who made Ellen see deep sorrow in his eyes when he spoke of Lanny. However, he did not turn that sorrow into words. He only hid it in his eyes, but it was even more impressive.

Finally, there were Alan's siblings. As for those wives and relatives, Horn said nothing. This was the typical patriarchal influence of the nobles.

Just this introduction took an hour. These were only the core members of Bescort, apart from them. Horn's own brothers, the elders of those clans, and perhaps even Horn himself did not know how many collateral clans were still on the list. Alan could vaguely feel that familiarizing himself with the genealogy would be a compulsory course.

This was truly a headache!

After the introduction, Horn looked at everyone and said, "Alright, everyone, my friends and sons." I called you here today to tell you. Lanny's son, Alan, will be back with us today. But as the Patriarch of Bescot, I cannot violate the rules that I have laid down. Ten years ago, I was the one who personally expelled Lanny from the family. Now that Allen is back, of course he can't get special care just because of his blood relationship with us. "

"So today, I will only announce his identity to the people closest to me. As for the outside world, I don't want anyone to know about this news for the time being. For them, Allen will only be an outsider who has just joined the clan. In the end, whether Allen can officially return to his direct bloodline will depend on the assessment given to him by the Council of Elders." Hawes paused for a moment before saying, "So, do you have any objections to my decision?"

Horn had always said the same thing in the clan. At this time, the so-called inquiry was just a formality. How could anyone familiar with him not know this? Whether they were willing or not, from the moment Horn personally led Alan into the hall, the old but tough Patriarch had already made his stand clear with his actions. Now, the so-called announcement, as well as Alan's assessment, was just a procedural process.

Ten years ago, Horn could drive his favorite daughter out of the family. Ten years later, he could also bring his daughter's child back to the family.

Everything, but it'll take some time.

Since that was the case, even those who did not agree in their hearts could only push the boat along and agree with Horn's decision. But at this moment, an indignant voice shouted, "I object!"

Horn's expression immediately sank. Roddy slapped his forehead with one hand, while Bale and the others wore faint smiles. Alan looked curiously in the direction of the voice. The person who opposed him was the big boy who had shown obvious hostility towards him when he entered the hall.

Amongst Allen's brothers, he was the strongest. His height of 1.8 meters was no different from that of an adult. The big boy exhaled heavily from his nostrils and his hair stood upright. Ignoring the tugging of a skinny teenager beside him, he said, "Grandpa, this brat is from the surface. Even if he has the bloodline of Aunt Lanny, who knows who his father is? Do you want our Beth Cod's blood to be mixed with the blood of some lowly surface?"
