Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 316: Night Strike

Chapter 316: Night Strike

Sitting on the rocking horse, Baron York missed his luxurious and comfortable carriage with great intensity. However, the carriage did not wear this polished, curved set of armor decorated with pure gold and gemstones. This plate armor was dignified and luxurious, coupled with the two-handed greatsword that was carefully crafted, allowing Baron York, who was already over half a century old, to regain the feeling he had when he was young.

However, compared to when he was younger, the extra flesh on his waist caused his waist to feel extremely crowded and uncomfortable. The relaxed muscles were also struggling to carry the armor. Fortunately, the horse under the Baron's seat was not bad. It carried the Baron and his armor and weapons, and could barely trot along with the army.

Baron York originally didn't want to go out together. After all, he was already old, and the strength of Level 15 had shrunk to an unknown extent. However, Ethan reminded him that if he didn't travel with them, God knew what Storm City's army would do. Perhaps they would have taken the treasures of the Ash Mountain Range.

Ethan's words woke up the dreamer, and Baron York immediately ordered his men to find his long-cherished armor. He had around thirty guards with him, following behind the Storm City army. The old knight had made up his mind that the vampires would be in charge of all the battles. His job was more to supervise than to fight.

As he passed by a small forest, Baron York's heart stirred and he looked at an old tree beside the road. The roots of the old tree were staggered, and its branches and leaves were dense. Even if there was a person hiding there, it was not surprising. Baron York picked up a fire/spear from the side of his horse and was about to shoot at the canopy when a few squirrel-like little beasts slipped down and looked warily at the human army before fleeing into the depths of the forest.

Baron York shook his head and laughed self-deprecatingly. He put down his gun and ignored the old tree.

After the Sur City guards slowly moved away, a soldier armed with Blazing Battle Soldiers slid down from a tree. He ran to a nearby high rock and pulled out a dense steel saber, reflecting the noon sun with the surface of the metal. Not long after, a flash of light also appeared on a distant hill.

Flashes of light would appear at regular intervals, marking the path of the Sur City Alliance Army.

Standing in front of a cliff in the Arth Mountain Range, Allen saw these sparkling dots in his eyes. Edward drew a sketch of the terrain beside him and traced the enemy's movements according to the location of the flash. In the evening, after the last flash disappeared, Edward handed the sketch to Alan.

"It's time to meet Caesar." Alan put away the sketch and said.

It was at dinner time that Caesar heard voices coming from the village gate. An indigenous warrior trotted to his side and whispered in his ear. Caesar nodded and walked towards the gate. Near the stronghold gate, a few indigenous warriors pointed their wooden spears at Alan. Alan stood calmly while Baku, who was standing beside him, eyed him covetously.

"You're not welcome here. Get lost!" Baku said in a low voice. He lowered his center of gravity slightly, like a tiger that could explode at any time.

"I want to see Caesar," said Alan coolly.

"Don't even think about it! What else do you want to seduce Caesar for!" Baku said loudly.

"What is it?" Caesar walked out of the crowd, nodded when he saw Alan, and said to Baku, "Go down first, I promise you will not see him in the stockade."

Only then did Baku wave his hand and leave with the warriors.

"Come with me."

Caesar patted Alan on the shoulder and the two of them left the stronghold and strolled through the woods. Allen handed him the sketch and said, "This is the location of the Sur City Alliance Army. If you sneak attack tonight, you should be able to give them a huge surprise."

Caesar looked delighted and took a look through the starlight and said, "Thank you for all you've done, friend."

He sighed, "It's a pity that everyone believes in Baku's words now. It's not convenient for me to bring you to the stronghold."

"It doesn't matter. What matters is whether you believe me or not." Alan stopped and looked at Caesar calmly.

Caesar smiled and said, "The ancestors said that those who dare to look straight at you must have a righteous heart. I believe in you, friend."

"I'm glad you said that." Ellen drew a line on the map, bypassing the enemy and arriving behind them. "We are going to attack here tonight to create chaos. I hope you will seize this opportunity."

Caesar put away the sketch and said, "I'm going to get the leaders to gather their troops."

"Quick." Alan nodded and left.

A brush quickly drew a picture of a camp on plain white paper, and Vera was painting with her eyes closed about ten kilometers away from the army of Sur City. The young girl seemed to have come personally. Although she had only drawn a sketch, she had clearly marked the location of the camp. A painting was quickly completed, and she silently handed it to Alan, who had just arrived.

Wei La seemed to be very tired, and a strange imprint on her chest was gradually disappearing. It was a pair of eyes, but its pupils were like a cube. This kind of engraving was very rare.

"I'm going to rest. Don't let anyone disturb me until tomorrow morning." Vera said simply, then left like a ghost, burrowing into a tent in the temporary camp.

Alan gathered his men together. This night's attack had almost used eighty percent of their strength. Apart from Edward and the five warriors who stayed at the starship's landing site to protect their stronghold and logistical personnel, almost everyone else was involved in the operation.

Spreading Vera's painting on the ground, Ellen pointed in the direction of the stable and looked at Lucy and Adele. "I need you to create some chaos here," she said.

Lucy nodded. "I have some of my fire bullets left for Adele to use."

Adele picked up her sniper rifle, half her height, patted her chest and said, "Leave it to me."

"In that case, we'll use the barn fire as a signal to attack." Next, Allen arranged for a surprise attack and a post-mortem job. After everyone was assigned their respective jobs, the team left the camp.

Along the way, Adele and Lucy left the team and went to find their own sniper position. "If the Baymonds don't cooperate with the attack, then we'll be in trouble," Welik said casually.

"I hope they're not so unwise." Alan looked at the Ash Mountain Range under the starry night.

An army of three hundred men was moving out of the Ash Mountain Range, a coalition of several Baymond strongholds. Several heads sat on warhorse-sized reindeer, advancing towards the spot Allen had marked. Baku grabbed the belly of the deer, and the reindeer trotted to catch up to Caesar and the others. "It could be a trap! Look, it's obvious. Lure our troops out of the mountains and catch them all in one go!" Baku shouted.

"Baku." Caesar glared at him and said, "We should try to trust others."

"That depends on who the target is."

The tall Vajra beside him shouted, "Let's not talk about it anymore. Perhaps Baku's worries are right. But we can't let the opportunity pass in vain. At that time, we should not rush to attack. We should first see the situation clearly before deciding."

In the middle of the moon, Caesar and the others arrived at a hillside. Looking down, a few miles away was the camp of the Sur City Alliance Army. The night was so quiet that there was no tension before the war. Looking at the tranquil camp, Baku sneered, "Look, our allies are not moving "

At the end of his words, a flash of fire suddenly appeared from the rear of the enemy camp, followed by the faint hiss of horses and the voices of people coming from that direction.

Baron York, whose tent was covered with a piece of hide, was also hissing. Even if the rough ground was covered with beast skin, it was still incomparable to the soft bed in his City Lord's Mansion. Baron York was insomnia. A moment ago, he had cursed such a situation, but at this moment, he was glad that he had not fallen asleep.

After hearing a special sound, fire lit up outside the tent. Baron York was shocked, and immediately jumped up and shouted, "What happened?"

A guard drilled in and reported, "The stable is on fire, my lord."

"Fire? Why is it on fire?"

"We don't know either. Right now, everyone is busy catching those frightened warhorses."

"Idiot! It could be an attack. Put on your armor." Baron York could not wear that luxurious suit of armor alone.

Alan raised his hand and waved heavily when he saw the campsite's stables lit up with flames. A pair of vanguards made up of Wilick and Roy immediately charged towards the camp, followed by fifteen soldiers armed with Blazing Battle Soldiers. Alan brought Wilick, Regis, and the others to follow him from behind. They chose a position far away from the horse pen to launch their attack.

The camp was attracted by the fire and most of the soldiers went to help catch the horses that were running around in horror, causing a major flaw in the camp's defenses. When the camp guards saw the sudden appearance of the troops, the two guards were shocked.

One of them was about to whistle when his head suddenly exploded and blood splashed all over his companion, but he was killed by Adele, who did not know where she was.

"Kill!"

Bloy roared and the Hammer of Forbidden Extermination smashed into the chest of another person. The light-armored guard smashed the person flying backwards and crashed into a tent. Only then did the soldiers of Sur City realize that there was an enemy invasion. They hurriedly threw down their horses and brought fire/guns and weapons towards Allen and the others.

"Kill the gunner." Alan said.

Wilick, Regis, and the others immediately rushed forward. They were like tigers entering a flock of sheep, staring at each other's fire/gun squad and killing them. A dozen or so firefighters weren't enough to kill them, and the infantry that surged out from the rest of the camp were directly exposed to the rain of bullets from the assault rifles.

When the ferocious gunshots sounded, the tranquillity of the night was completely torn to shreds!
