Chapter 19 – Sona Sitri Finally Shows Up

Chapter 19 – Sona Sitri Finally Shows Up

Rias held out the palm of her right hand, and suddenly there was a small explosion. This explosion created a brief curtain of smoke, from which emerged some sort of bat that looked more like a baseball, both in shape and size.

"This is my devil familiar. You've met her before, haven't you?" Rias asked me.

Rias' familiar flew to the side and with another minor explosion took the form of a young-looking woman in clothes so strange they looked more like devil cosplay.

"Yes, she was the girl who gave me the flyer that day."

"This is mine." Akeno pointed to the ground, from which a small devil-looking gnome emerged.

"This is Shiro." Koneko said, smiling at the white kitten on her lap.

"And this is mine." Kiba opened his palm and a small yellow bird appeared.

'Oh, so that's Kiba's familiar.' I thought and then said: "And what are these 'familiars' for?"

Rias crossed her arms. "Familiars have endless uses. Besides being loyal companions, they can perform simple tasks such as exchanging messages between us, protecting us in certain situations and even boosting our powers in battle, depending on the contract."

Akeno stroked the small gnome in her arms, which made a sound similar to an electric shock. "Mine is like a rechargeable servant for me. The more electricity I put into them, the more they work."

Kiba nodded in agreement. "My bird, Kuro, is fast and can fly long distances for reconnaissance or searching for information."

Koneko lifted Shiro from her lap and looked at him fondly. "Shiro is very good at detecting hidden presences. He'll be useful in protecting the club here."

Rias noticed my interest and smiled. "Leo, it's time for you and Asia to get your own familiars. It will strengthen you and increase your efficiency during missions."

Before I could ask how we could get our own familiars, a hard knock on the door interrupted our conversation. Rias raised an eyebrow and motioned for Akeno to go and see.

Akeno went to the door and opened it. Several people in school uniforms entered the lounge of the club. I recognized them, especially since the one leading them was Shitori Souna.

Behind Shitori, almost ten people followed closely behind her, most of them women.

Obviously, I had heard a lot about her and her group, especially because of the occult activities they were doing in the school basement.

"Good day, Rias," Shitori said with a slight nod.

"Good afternoon, Shitori."

"We have come to formally introduce ourselves to your new pieces." Shitori continued.

Asia approached me and whispered, "Who is she?"

"The president of the student council."

Rias smiled at the two new 'pieces' she had added to her board. "Leo, Asia, she's actually Sona Sitri, a devil like us."

"She's a descendant of one of the major devil families, the Sitri family." Akeno added.

Asia put her hand over her mouth. "So, there are other devils?"

Sona nodded slightly. "Yes, that's why we've come to formally introduce ourselves and also to present the new piece on my tablet." She gestured with her hand and a tall boy with light hair stepped forward. "This is Saji Genshirou, my new pawn," Sona said.

Saji bowed respectfully in our direction.

"It is a pleasure to meet you," Saji said, but there was a competitive glint in his eyes as he looked at me.

It was the look of someone determined to prove himself, but why against me? No, I'm joking. Of course, I knew he was looking at me like that because we were both novice pawns.

Rias smiled. "This is Leo Tonello and Asia Argento. I hope we can all work together in harmony."

Saji held out his hand to shake mine, and I shook it.

"Well, well, you're strong! But I'm a pawn that worth four pieces," he said.

Of course, I wouldn't brag about being a pawn worth eight pieces, so I just smiled in response.

However, I didn't expect Asia to resent his provocation any more than I did.

"No matter how many pieces you're worth, we'll have our familiars soon!" Asia shouted with closed eyes and rosy cheeks.

Sona, apparently surprised by Asia's sudden declaration, crossed her arms, as did Rias. "Um... Actually, devils can only go looking for relatives once a month. It won't be that easy, since I plan to take Saji with me this month so that he can get a familiar."

A murmur went through the room, and all eyes turned to Rias. She still wore her classic confident smile.

"Then we need to find a way to decide who gets to go this time."

"A contest? That sounds great." Sona agreed.

In fact, this competition between Rias and Sona would not only be a question of who would get the right to go to the Forest of Familiars, but also a contest of pride between the houses of Gremory and Sitri.

So it wouldn't be Asia, Saji or I who would be fighting, but the commanders of the respective groups.

The next morning, the atmosphere in the school was electric. Everyone knew about the competition between Rias Gremory and Shitori Souna.

As the tennis match was about to begin, curious students already surrounded the court. Not surprisingly, Shitori was the beautiful student council president that everyone admired, and Rias Gremory was Kuoh Academy's greatest beauty. Everyone wanted to see them move around in their miniskirts.

I found a vantage point on the side of the court from where I could watch the whole game.

Next to Rias, Akeno Himejima was getting ready, checking the strings of her racket with a smile that even looked innocent.

On Sona's side, Tsubaki Shinra looked ready. She was a girl who looked very similar to Sona, but she had long hair and wore green glasses.

Rias and Sona greeted each other at the center of the court, a respectful gesture that hid the intense rivalry that fueled this competition.

"Let's do our best," Rias said with an excited expression.

Sona agreed with a confident smile. "May the best win."

Rias was the first to serve, and the ball flew with impressive speed. In the blink of an eye, the ball was on the other side of the net, challenging the agility of Tsubaki, who responded with equal skill.

The game continued at a rapid pace. The heads of the spectators moved from side to side nonstop. Soon, the other boys and I were mesmerized by the beauty of these women. They were all very beautiful, but Rias and Akeno each had two major reasons why I didn't want to take my eyes off them. With each bounce of the ball, their breasts jiggled and sometimes their skirts lifted!

Rias had innate physical ability and a cool presence, while Akeno, on the other hand, always seemed so calm that she floated in the air when she had to jump. She was so relaxed that she didn't even bother.

On the other hand, Sona and Tsubaki weren't far behind. They were just as skilled and, being devils, had impressive physical abilities as well.

In a particularly intense moment, Rias made an impressive leap, her body spinning in the air before hitting the ball with devastating force.

The ball streaked across the court like a comet, forcing Sona to stretch as far as she could to catch up. The student council president managed to return the ball, but Akeno was already there, ready to resume play.

But at that moment, something unexpected happened. With a mysterious smile, Akeno released a small amount of her magic, and a beam of electricity that caused the ball to deflect slightly caught Tsubaki off guard, giving the Gremory team a one-point lead.

The crowd muttered, but no one realized what had happened.

Sona and Tsubaki retaliated with their own magic. The game quickly turned into an even more impressive spectacle, with gusts of wind and blows much stronger and faster than schoolgirls like them could normally handle.

In the end, they couldn't finish the game because all their rackets were broken. Therefore, a meeting was scheduled for later in the day to decide which match would break the tie.

As the crowd began to disperse, I decided to go to the classroom. I was about to join the crowd of students when I felt a firm hand grab my right arm and pull me along. I turned to see that it was Akeno. She was still in her tennis clothes, but her breathing was heavy and her eyes shone with an intensity that almost took my breath away.

"Akeno? What is it?" I asked, surprised that I was still being dragged along.

"I want to talk to you, Leo. In private~"
