Chapter 57 Taking It Easy
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ It was a bit of a pain, but Ethan hurried to the school because he had no idea when he would find Emily. So, it was better to look for her early on, considering that time in Meizibio passed ten times faster.
"One year ago, I probably would die of embarrassment just by staying here with a letter in hand and waiting for a girl," Ethan said while looking at the sky in the middle of that plaza. "Life really is full of surprises."
It was 07:30 AM, so few students were appearing. Classes only started at eight, and given that it was boring to wait at the main building unless you were a boy who enjoyed the simulator quite a bit like Ethan, there was no reason to come so earlier. Still, Emily was a serious student, so she appeared quite soon. As expected, she frowned when she saw Ethan walking toward him.
"You have come pretty early, and you aren't playing at the simulator," Emily said. "I wonder if it is going to rain today."
"Here, a letter from someone I know and who admires you," Ethan said. "You can read it now."
Emily frowned once again because Ethan seemed immune to her sarcasm and because she didn't expect a letter from him. In her eyes, it was obvious that it was his. Only an idiot would use the words: someone I know.
"Don't jump to the conclusions," Ethan said. "I don't know any of your redeeming qualities, so there is no way that I would fall for you so fast. This letter is from a girl that lives in Meizibio."
It has been a few months since Emily heard that. Still, those words finally made Emily understand that he wasn't lying. Emily opened while making a complicated expression, and by the look of things, she didn't enjoy her stay in another world. However, she showed a sweet smile a few times while reading the letter.
"Say… how you met her?" Emily frowned. "No, don't answer… I don't want to involve myself with problems. You returned four days ago, and you already… come to think of it, you got pretty strong since yesterday."
"I don't know what you want to hear, considering that you don't want to get involved with anything troublesome," Ethan said. "Anyway, this girl helped me quite a bit, so I thought of letting you to meet for a while."
"While I wouldn't mind in meeting her, I'm going to pass," Emily shook her head and stored her letter in her bag. "I'm not fond of my memories in that world since many people tried to use me to gain influence and because I lost five years of my life there. Still, if you see her again, say that I'm happy for having helped her."
"Understood," Ethan said.
It was a pity, but it couldn't be helped. It looked like a lot of paperwork had to be done in order to let someone like them to go to another world, and Emily wanted to save herself from the hassle. Ethan had no idea why she was like that, but it made perfect sense. In fact, people like Ethan, who went to another world without worrying about details, were the weird ones. Although that was just like Ethan, since he couldn't care less about politics and their means and goals, one should be careful while walking through that thin line.
Regardless, Ethan left Emily behind and began to walk toward the tower. Although he took a pretty decent nap at Lili's house, he still let out a long yawn when he crossed the entrance of the tower.
"Lyla seems like a serious teacher, but I guess I'm going to sit in the back of the classroom and sleep throughout the whole class," Ethan said to himself. "I recovered a fair amount of my power in the last few days, so I guess I can take it easy for the time being. I have to talk with Ian first and ask when we are going to visit his sister. I have two classes this morning, so maybe we are going after lunch."
The weather inside the tower was pretty good, so Ethan decided to sleep the whole morning. Although his body was completely fine after all that fighting, it had been a long while since he had to work that hard while fighting for so many days straight.
"Which reminds me, I didn't have any dreams while I was at Lili's house," Ethan rubbed his chin. "Still, I can't be sure I won't have others since I didn't sleep like a rock there."
When Ethan finally found the class, he found that several students were already there. As one would expect, Ian was also there, sitting in the middle of the first row. Although he didn't know him all that much, Ethan knew that he wasn't a serious student for academic purposes, but he sure looked like one.
"Hey, you came today," Ian said, not looking surprised in the least. "Can I assume everything ended well?"
"Yeah… thanks again for the help," Ethan said while he was heading to the last row of the class.
It was hard to know if Ian was just asking for the sake of confirming things on his end or if he was just mocking Ethan. As usual, he was difficult to read in some aspects. The students could sit anywhere. That being said, that course had quite a bit of students, and Ethan didn't want to deal with anyone since his hands were already full, thanks to Ian. So, he tried to recall the memories of that day on the mocking battle. It was hard to be sure, but it looked like the last row wasn't being used by anyone. Lyla was really popular, and Ethan thanked her for that. Because of her, he would be able to sleep soundly during the whole class, and no one will notice.

"I forgot to check my status after all that fighting…" Ethan said after opening that window, but then he quickly closed it. "Oh, well… I can always do that later."
After muttering that, Ethan closed his eyes and then buried his face in his table. As expected, taking a nap at school and in class was the best.
