Chapter 868: Chapter 868:- Negotiating
"Greetings, Your Majesty." Watson greeted Amelia with a polite bow.
Sigh....!!
Seeing Watson still being so formal and polite, Amelia sighed out loud.
"Watson, how many times do I need to tell you just to call me by my name?" Despite being a butler, Watson was very respected by everyone. He was considered an elder of this family.
To the Royal Family, Watson wasn't just a mere butler but a Kind Grandpa.
As such, Amelia has told him many times in the past just to call her by her name. There was no need to formally greet her every single time she came to the Dragon Palace.
"Madam, it's very hard to change some things." Watson's words had a double meaning to it. But Amelia failed to read the other deeper meaning of his words.
"By the way, where is Riya?" Amelia decided to change the subject and asked about her daughter.
To her, Riya was her everything.
She kind of missed the times when her little daughter used to stay by her side 24 hours a day- those days used to be so fulfilling.
"Lady Riya is in the Central Region of the Beast Continent."
"Of course!!" Amelia isn't sure to hear that. As the Goddess of Nature, only Riya could restore the damaged land of the Central Region. Without her, it would take hundreds of years, if not a few thousand years, for the entire central region to recover enough for vegetation to grow.
In the long run, living in the central region without any vegetation is nearly impossible. Though food and other necessities could be brought using teleportation arrays and storage rings, this isn't a long-term solution.
"I should send some Elven troops to help my daughter." Even though Riya is the Goddess of Nature, as her a mother, she couldn't help but feel concerned.
"His Majesty sent around twenty thousand troops, including 100 Dragonians, to help Lady Riya in every way possible."
Additionally, millions of Royal Gold coins were invested in reconstructing the road system. All major cities will be rebuilt in their original locations and will be connected through the road network.
"That's good to know!"
'That reminds me, I still haven't found time to visit her in the central region.' She wanted to see what her daughter was doing with her own eyes.
"Madam, if you don't mind me asking."
"I've noticed that over the past few weeks, you've been spending more time away from the Dragon Palace." As the butler, Watson noticed these small changes better than anyone else. 'When His Majesty was away from the Dragon Palace, she spent every night here.' It's clear that this has something to do with Aditya. But Watson felt that being a butler, this wasn't his place to bring this up.
The most that he could do is say it indirectly.
Hearing this, Amelia felt awkward.
'Of course, Watson was going to notice this.' Amelia thought in her mind.
"Actually, staying in the Istarin Empire has given me many ideas that I want to implement in my Celestial Terrain. Implementing some of these ideas will improve the quality of life of my citizens."
Her response was solid. She left him with no room for any further questions on this topic. Her response wasn't entirely false either. Staying with Aditya did give her many ideas. Both of them walked through the corridor towards Aditya's office.
"Madam, at the beginning, it was only three of us." It was Aditya, Watson, and Julia. "But now, this family has grown."
"Now the family has grown by 4 times." If Aria and Spencer were added, then the total number would be 14.
"As the butler of His Majesty, I am always concerned about the future of this Empire."
"I would really love it if His Majesty's Harem kept growing." Hearing this, Amelia, for some reason, felt a little embarrassed.
"In my opinion, His Majesty should have at least 100 children."
'Hundred! That's too much!!' For some reason, she recalled her encounter with Aditya in his bedroom. Even as a virgin, she could guess what they must have done after she left the room. "Aunt Amelia.....!!" While Amelia was lost in her thoughts, Rin approached them.
After coming to the Dragon Palace, Rin had nothing much to do aside from eating and sleeping.
Sometimes, she spent her days reading books at the library, trying to catch up on everything that she missed while being held.
On other days, she spends her whole day sleeping in her bedroom. She only leaves her room when it's time for her meals with everyone.
"Rin! Are you going somewhere?" Amelia asked.
"I was going to find Lara. She promised to show me around the Celestial Terrain today." Lara often visits the Celestial Terrain to learn from her teacher, Amelia. As a result, over the
months, she has become very familiar with the Elven Empire's Capital.
Knowing that Rin is lonely and doesn't do much, Lara decides to take her out on a tour around the capital.
"I thought you were teaching Lara." She was expecting Amelia to be at the Capital.
"Well, I want to meet Aditya to discuss something between our Empires."
"Is it about joining our husband's Harem and merging the two Empires?" Rin asked with a teasing grin.
Seeing Aditya and Amelia's interaction last time, Rin has become aware of some unsaid things. It seems everyone was somewhat aware but no one is willing to bring up this topic. Given the current situation, Rin felt that Amelia becoming their sister was inevitable. Since Amelia is running away from Aditya, this story would drag on painfully too long.
As expected, Amelia blushed.
"Of course not! Recently, a large gold mine was discovered in our Empire. I am here to talk about that." This gold mine might be the biggest one ever discovered in the Celestial Terrain.
Though she immediately corrected herself, the blush from her cheeks never disappeared. Instead of being offended, she looked embarrassed hearing such words from Rin.
..
Scene Change
"So, you're saying that the biggest gold mine in the history of the Celestial Terrain was discovered just a few days ago?" Aditya asked. His tone was curious yet serious.
Amelia nodded with a troubled expression.
"We elves have never been skilled at mining. Even looking back thousands of years, it's extremely rare for elves to mine resources themselves. In the past, there was even a practice of using slaves-mainly half-elves or other races-to mine resources for us. However, those days are long gone." When she came to power, she abolished those old practices in her first
few years.
She paused for a moment before continuing. When talking about serious topics, she could look at his face without blushing. "The real problem is that this gold mine is located within
the territory of a dark elf clan."
Aditya raised an eyebrow.
Amelia sighed and explained further,
"If you don't already know, the Celestial Terrain is divided into the territories of hundreds of elven clans, each claiming authority over their land. This particular mine happens to be in the territory of a dark elf clan that has been a constant thorn in my side."
"This clan is notoriously stubborn and isolationist. They've made it abundantly clear that they won't allow the Empire to mine the gold, claiming it would harm the environment within their lands. And while I normally would consider their concerns, this isn't about preserving nature—it's about power. They're using this situation to assert dominance and challenge the Empire's authority."
Aditya frowned. "Aunty, you could try negotiating with them, but if that doesn't work, you might have to use force. Otherwise, other clans will see this as a sign that they can defy the Empire whenever they want, as long as they're stubborn enough."
Amelia nodded but still looked conflicted. "I know. But the issue is more complicated. This dark elf clan has always been a problem. For centuries, they've shown open disdain for other races. They've refused trade with humans, beastmen, and even other elf clans they deem inferior. Their leader has repeatedly stated that she doesn't want to see foreign workers- especially non-elves-stepping foot on their land. No matter how much I try to compromise, I doubt they'll accept any mining operation."
Aditya leaned back, deep in thought. "They are challenging your rule over the entire continent." Aditya never thought such an issue would arise, given how much power and
authority Amelia had in her hands as the Empress.
She has been their Empress for over a thousand years, not to mention that something like this
was happening.
Amelia sighed again. "Exactly. If I let them get away with this, it will embolden other clans to
test the Empire's authority. But forcing them might escalate into a bigger conflict that I can't afford right now. Their defiance has always been an issue, and now they're using the environment as a shield for their selfish agenda."
"This clan has always resisted the Empire's laws, from refusing to pay their fair share of taxes to sheltering fugitives from other races. Their deep-seated racism has made them enemies of progress, and this gold mine is just another excuse to stir trouble."
"Then the solution is simple. Start with diplomacy, but make it clear that the Empire won't tolerate their games. If they don't cooperate, take decisive action. A few harsh lessons might finally teach them who rules the Celestial Terrain." In the end, his eyes grew cold.
Sometimes, being a nice person wasn't enough.
"I have sent some of my people to negotiate with their clan Leader. Let's see what happens."
But this wasn't the reason why she was here.
"Another reason I came here is because I want our Empires to work together on this."
"Let me guess. You want the Istarin Empire to mine gold for you, and in return, you'll provide
me with something in exchange." Amelia nodded her head.
"To be honest, I would love to give the Istarin Empire a small percentage of the gold mined,
but I have a better deal."
Aditya raised his right eyebrow with a curious look. Even if Amelia was his aunt, he wouldn't
do this for free. Right now, she wasn't just family; she was here as the Empress of her Empire, and he had a responsibility to prioritize the interests of his own Empire. Personal ties couldn't cloud his judgment when it came to matters like this. If the Istarin
Empire was going to be involved, it had to be a deal that benefited both sides equally.
"My Empire will provide manpower and all resources to restore the Central Region."
"That won't be enough." Aditya shook his head.
"I feel like accepting My Empire is going to cause a loss. Instead, let my empire keep 40% of
all the gold that will be mine from this mine."
"40%? That's pure robbery!" Amelia said with a look of disbelief.
Hmph!!!
"Why don't you just take the entire gold mine from my Empire?" She said in a sarcastic tone.
"If you say so!"
"Where do I sign the contract?" Aditya responded, looking very serious, almost as if he did
not understand that she was being sarcastic.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Amelia rolled her eyes and continued. "I came to you thinking that you'd give me some
discount. But instead, you're trying to rob my Empire."
"Your empire is currently the third richest empire in the six continents. Your empire is anything but poor." Aditya calmly replied.
"But still, compared to you, we are very poor."
"Right now, you are arguably the top 10 most richest person in the whole planet. Your empire
is the richest empire within the six continents. Not to mention, you are also engaged to the
goddess of wealth."
"You are the literal definition of what it means to be rich."
"And You even took my daughter away from me and my Empire."
Aditya...."
'It's not like I chased her. She was the one who chased me.' He did not had the courage to say it
out.
"I came to thinking that you would give me some benefits, but instead, you are trying to steal
my Empire's wealth." Amelia was speaking as if he had asked the whole world from her. Her acting left him speechless.
"You came here not as my mother-in-law or my aunt. You came here as the Empress of your
Empire. You are allowed to look for the best interest of your empire, but I am not allowed to
think of the best for my empire. Why is that?"
Amelia was left speechless.
'He does have a point!' But then she mentally shook her head. She cannot give up.
"Give me some benefits of being engaged to my daughter."
Aditya shook his head. "If you want to get benefits, then why don't you become my wife?"
"Only my wives get to benefit from my Empire?" The next second, she blushed and averted her gaze.
Aditya was expecting her to respond aggressively. Her blushing face caught him off guard. He felt like he was having this playful argument with a mature version of Riya.
"I am leaving! Coming here was clearly a waste of my time." Amelia pretended to be angry to
hide her embarrassment.
She stood up to leave.
"Alright! Wait!"
"Give me 30%!" He said while showing three fingers.
"10% take it or leave it!"
"20%! If it's lower than 20%, then forget it." This was his bottom line. He shook his head in
disappointment to show that he wasn't settling for anything less.
"15%! This also comes with My Empire's aid to help you restore the Central Region."
Aditya was about to decline, but the rest of her words made him hesitate. "Alright! I agree!" He agreed after a few seconds of thinking. Aditya realized that he wasn't
going to lose in this deal. In the long run, this deal might end up being very profitable. "Good!" Amelia sat down with a satisfied smile.
From the beginning, she planned to give him 10% of whatever would be mined. But she did
not say it because she planned to use it in their negotiation. Seeing her satisfied smile, Aditya suddenly felt that all this was a part of her plan.
Really Thank you very much to all those who send support with valuable golden tickets. I hope
we can keep it up!!!
