Chapter 1958: Planar Evolution
Chapter 1958: Planar Evolution
"Humans are indeed constantly destroying this world, but that's because they require more resources to fuel their creativity and support their wisdom. They are constantly forging ahead, leaving us further and further behind with their creative ability, and as a result, the power balance gradually shifted to be completely in their favor. The most important factor behind the current state of the soul beast world is that we are no longer anywhere near as powerful as the human race. Hence, we have to acknowledge the existence of the human race rather than purely think about destroying them."
"What should we do then?" Di Tian asked.
Instead of giving a direct reply to his question, Gu Yuena continued, "During the battle against the abyssal plane, I was able to use my Silver Dragon Spear to devour a vast amount of abyssal energy, and I've transferred this energy into the Myriad Beast Plane to completely stabilize the plane, thereby allowing it to become the core of our plan. I'm sure you've seen the evolution of the Myriad Beast Plane. The core of the plane is the Dragon God's core, and with that massive influx of energy, it's already become the best habitat for us soul beasts. However, do you know how much of the abyssal plane's energy I managed to devour?"
Di Tian shook his head in response. It felt to him like the Myriad Beast Plane had become over 10 times more stable and over three times larger, thereby allowing it to house far more soul beasts.
"It was only around 1%," Gu Yuena declared.
Di Tian was very surprised to hear this. "What? Only 1%? But you devoured the Spirit Sovereign and so many other abyssal rulers! How could it have only been 1%?"
Gu Yuena shook her head, and explained, "Ultimately, none of the abyssal rulers truly mattered. As the ultimate ruler of the abyssal plane, the Holy Lord was the core of the plane. However, neither the abyssal rulers nor the Holy Lord himself could represent the entirety of the plane. Even if we were to put them all together, they would only possess 20% of all of the energy in the abyssal plane at the very most. The majority of the energy lies in the abyssal plane itself; the Holy Lord was only the planar ruler, but not the plane itself.
"Otherwise, do you think the core of life of the Douluo Continent would need to go into hibernation to absorb the energy it had devoured from the abyssal plane? The abyssal plane was a plane of an even higher caliber than the Douluo Plane, so essentially, the Douluo Plane has devoured something more powerful than itself, and it'll take a very long time for digestion and absorption to take place. As a result of this process, the entire Douluo Plane is going to evolve. Having stood at the pinnacle of this continent for so many years, I'm sure you've already noticed some changes."
Di Tian hesitated momentarily before nodding in response. "I have. I've been stuck at a bottleneck for many years without being able to make any progress, but recently, I can sense that the bottleneck is beginning to loosen. Even though it's only a very slight change, it's definitely noticeable."
Gu Yuena nodded, and said, "That is a sign of planar evolution. In the past, rank 99 in soul power was the upper limit for human Soul Masters, and those who reached rank 100 could be referred to as gods. However, as the plane evolves, the cultivation ceiling will rise to higher levels. At that point, the Douluo Plane will become an existence that's approaching a Divine Realm instead of purely remaining as a planet. I'm currently unable to calculate what the cultivation ceiling will become at the conclusion of this planar evolution; perhaps it could be rank 105, rank 110, or even higher.
"As inhabitants of this planet, all of you will benefit from this, which means that even without a Divine Realm, you could make the breakthrough that you've been pursuing for so long here in this plane."
Di Tian drew a sharp breath upon hearing this, while Gu Yuena continued with a faint sigh, "You asked me earlier what it is that I'm concerned about. In reality, I'm not concerned about the planar ruler. Even though the Dragon God's core is incomplete, with its power at my disposal, even the planar ruler at the conclusion of the plane's evolution may not be able to do anything to me. Instead, what I'm actually concerned about is the Douluo Divine Realm, which could return at any time. I'm sure you heard what Sea God Tang San said on that day, and I'm sure you also witnessed his power.
"Even setting his powers aside for now, the 10,000-year plan that he had devised against the abyssal plane was an incredible feat. As the leader of the godkings, he's able to control the entire Douluo Divine Realm; even the Dragon God at the height of his powers most likely wouldn't be able to contend with him, let alone myself. If we truly destroy the entire human race, what do you think will await us once the Divine Realm returns?"
Di Tian shuddered upon hearing this. He had only been considering the forces that were present on the Douluo Continent, and just as Gu Yuena had said, even if the planar ruler were to awaken, she would stand a good chance against him with the Dragon God's core at her disposal.
However, at the mention of Tang San, even Di Tian was struck by a sense of powerlessness.
Gu Yuena rose to her feet and slowly made her way over to the window, casting her gaze out toward the giant Eternal Tree in the distance. "How do you think I managed to convince the Sky Azure Bull Python and the Titan Giant Ape to join me? They were once close friends with Tang San; do you think they would've supported me if my ultimate goal had been to destroy the human race? The conflict between the human race and us soul beasts is one that can't be mediated. There is too much bad blood between us, and I'm sure all soul beasts are full of hatred and resentment toward humans.
"You can disregard all consequences and focus solely on revenge, but I can't do that. As your leader, I must ensure that all of my people will be able to survive for generations to come. We have gained the upper hand now, but we absolutely cannot press our advantage and destroy the human race."
Di Tian's brows furrowed tightly upon hearing this.
Gu Yuena's words had truly had a big impact on him, and the impact was made even greater by the fact that she had said all of this after their plan had been set into motion and they had established an advantage.
Indeed, would the soul beasts still have a future if they were to allow hatred to blind them?
However, just as Gu Yuena had said, the relationship between humans and soul beasts was already completely untenable; what could they do?
The soul beasts definitely wouldn't agree to a truce or a peace offering. After all, all of the soul beasts that had been resurrected in the Myriad Beast Plane harbored intense hatred toward the human race.
"What should we do then?" Di Tian asked.
A wry smile appeared on Gu Yuena's face. "I'm actually not sure myself. Let's wait for now. In three days, everything will come to a head. Humans are very intelligent, and they'll find a way to ensure their survival; let's see what they want to do before we make our decision."
Di Tian was rather unconvinced by this, but at the same time, he also felt like this was the only way forward.
For the soul beasts, this was a brilliant opportunity that they couldn't let slip no matter what.
