Taking into account that while Holy Priest was a Legend-grade profession, they were weak in combat. Thus, Link simply kept her by his side. At least her grasp of the various buff skills would become more and more adept under Link’s guidance.
She could greatly boost the combat ability and endurance power of the people around her. This also had to do with her talent!
“Regardless of whether you get any results, you are to return to the school every three hours to report the situation.
“If you have found them, don’t alert them! Come back and tell me!
“Any other questions?” Link’s final sentence fell as he swept a glance at them.
“No!” said everyone in unison.
“That’s all then!”
...
Everyone separately went off to their assigned rooms to rest.
Link leaned against the headboard, both arms behind his head, as he sunk into thought. “Ten days... It’s a little tight!”
Although the siege was a great crisis, it would also be a really huge opportunity if they could withstand the test of dark creatures. Not to mention that the massive number of dark creatures represented a large amount of EXP, equipment, items, skill books...
All cities that could be preserved in the first siege would become the few home cities of the entire Blue Star. They would be the core of the Doomsday era!
They would also be the greatest safeguard for [Doomsday Online] players to survive in this apocalyptic world.
Home cities came with protective auras. Creatures that were offensive to players would not appear within a certain radius of them. Moreover, some players could acquire unique [Life Class] professional skills inside home cities. These skills could allow one to cultivate rations, refine medicines, forge equipment and all sorts of items, and more. This formed a brand-new production chain in the Doomsday era, providing resources and reserves for [Doomsday Online] players.
Humankind relied on home cities to survive and multiply, to keep the fire alive and continue civilization. If one was the master of the home cities, one would be able to gain plenty of indescribable benefits.
Link’s road to the peak in this lifetime had to start from the home cities!
For the level-ups of [Doomsday Online] players, other than killing monsters to gain EXP, various kinds of cultivation was another avenue.
Limit training could improve constitution, strength, and agility. Meditation could boost the intelligence attribute. Only, few people would choose these methods in general. One was very dull and very tiring, while the other did not give obvious gains.
It often required a lot of time to raise their attributes by one or two points. However, there were also exceptions. Some people who were more talented could always be struck by inspiration during cultivation and be suddenly enlightened.
They either grasped a certain kind of rare skill or gained a powerful advancement in a certain attribute. However, such things only came by chance. Thus, many people simply treated them as stories to listen to.
But Link was different; he had tasted the benefits of sudden enlightenment.
His Epic-grade [Void Summoner] profession in his previous life had been something he gained from the strange experience of when his mind was roaming the Sea of the Void during meditation.
He was the kind of person whose awakening was acquired. To him, meditation had already become a habit, even though the present him no longer needed to bet on that sort of luck and could gain lots of unbelievable benefits just with his talent. Moreover, meditation’s resting effects were much better than that of sleeping.
...
Dawn the next day. The sky was still dark.
Link opened his eyes on the bed, feeling fresh and energetic.
Looking around, Angel Yuna quietly kept watch by his side. The golden holy light that she radiated caused this room with no candles to remain bright.
He got up and left the room, coming to the corridor outside and stretched himself.
Unfortunately, the bodies everywhere in this campus had already begun to stink. The stench diffused through the air, spoiling his mood a little.
Creak!
The door of the next room opened all of a sudden, and Yang Xuerou walked out.
Presently, she was dressed in black casual wear. The slightly loose and baggy clothes concealed her beautiful figure but gave her a different kind of charm.
“Link, you’re... up so early!” She was rather surprised to see Link.
“You’re not late either!” Link said without giving a definite answer.
She lifted the hair before her forehead and said with a smile, “I planned on waking up earlier to make breakfast for all of you...”
“No need! We’ll just grab some bread, milk, and whatnot and share them later!” Having struggled in the darkness for so many years in his previous life, Link was extremely self-disciplined. Now, they ought to economize wherever possible with their quality of life in such times.
It wouldn’t be too late to enjoy after the home cities were secured.
Yang Xuerou nodded upon hearing him. She then went to stand beside Link—shoulder to shoulder—and stopped speaking.
About two minutes later, Xue Linglong and Luo Xingyao walked out from their rooms at the same time. Luo Xinghe also poked his head out of the room on the other end.
“Let’s move!” Link said coolly and walked ahead.
...
The dark creatures within the campus had long been purged. They were silent throughout the journey.
When they arrived at the school gates, Luo Xinghe took the initiative to go forward to undo the chains on the tall metal gates.
But just then, Link’s brows knitted as he looked towards the darkness ahead.
“Who’s there?” Luo Xingyao also sensed the anomaly. In the blink of an eye, she nocked an arrow and drew the bow, aiming it in the direction that Link looked at.
Patter patter!
Slightly heavy footsteps sounded increasingly clear in the darkness, and a slender silhouette gradually appeared in the sights of the crowd.
“Qiao Ruowei?” Xue Linglong’s eyes were slightly narrowed.
The person shockingly turned out to be Qiao Ruowei, who had left alone to go save her grandfather. She currently had a battered appearance. She was covered in wounds, and many spots were still bleeding.
Her steps were heavy, her eyes swollen and lackluster. She had clearly cried hard. Before she came close, a strong sorrowful aura surged towards them.
Everyone exchanged glances, having vague guesses at heart.
Link looked at her. “You’re back?”
“Mm!” Qiao Ruowei nodded, her voice was very hoarse.
“Tend to her wounds, and let’s get going!” said Link to Yang Xuerou after turning slightly. He then headed off in a certain direction first.
The rest immediately followed.
Yang Xuerou went up close, her delicate palm pressing lightly on Qiao Ruowei’s head. Soon, her body emitted a milky-white radiance, which was infused into Qiao Ruowei’s body.
The wounds on Qiao Ruowei’s body swiftly healed at a rate visible to the naked eye.
“Are you okay?” Yang Xuerou asked softly.
Qiao Ruowei shook her head in silence and followed behind Link and company.
...
On the streets, dark creatures could be seen everywhere. The majority were existences at the level of Skeleton Swordsmen. There were also a considerable number of Undead Knights.
Link suddenly stopped in his steps, and nonchalantly called out, “Qiao Ruowei!”
Qiao Ruowei went forward and bowed her head. “Yes, Lord!”
“Know how to lure monsters?”
“Hmm?” Qiao Ruowei lifted her head, some puzzlement in her red and swollen eyes.
“Go around in front of these monsters, lure them together, and bring them to us!” Link gave a simple explanation.
“I can try!” Qiao Ruowei nodded and ran towards the closest Skeleton Swordsman with her dagger in hand.
The Skeleton Swordsman was alarmed and chased her.
Qiao Ruowei spun on her feet and dashed towards the next closest dark creatures. She repeated this a few times, and the dark creatures behind her back multiplied. There were a good 20 to 30 of them.
The stir became greater and greater too. Gradually, several Undead Knights also followed.
The Undead Knights were extremely fast, and Qiao Ruowei was almost struck by their spears a few times, but she always managed to dodge them riskily in the most critical moment.
Link watched for a while and said, “That will do!”
Qiao Ruowei gritted her teeth, continuously tumbled on the ground several times, and avoided the charge of an Undead Knight. Then, she ran madly in the direction where Link and company stood.
Soon, this group of dark creatures arrived in front of them.
Luo Xingyao and the others wore solemn looks and raised their weapons. They held their breaths, preparing for a battle.
“Yuna!” Link called out lightly.
“Yes, Master!” Yuna understood tacitly. She fluttered her wings and flew into the low altitude. Her scepter was raised high, and a golden radiance gathered. For a moment, it was as bright as day.
“Holy Light Purification!”
