Chapter 73
C73 – Titan Python
Inside the sarcophagus at that moment lay an exceptionally massive python.
Despite being coiled up, the python completely filled the sarcophagus, hinting at a length of at least 20 meters.
The python’s entire body was covered in jet-black scales, exuding an ancient and ominous presence.
However, it remained motionless within the sarcophagus, almost as if it were lifeless.
“Is this what you meant by inheritance?”
Loong Chen furrowed his brow, puzzled by the Wolf King’s intent.
The Wolf King nodded, affirming, “Exactly. Our ancestors referred to this colossal python as the Titan Python. Its bloodline closely resembles that of the Titans, and thus, it’s regarded as the heir of the Titan Clan. We also revere it as the Sacred Beast.”
“However, the Titan Python possesses a savage and brutal disposition. In order to make it a vessel for the Titan’s legacy, our ancestors had to confine it within the sarcophagus and sustain it with the flesh and blood of humans or mutated beasts.”
“What’s your point?”
Loong Chen’s frown deepened as he failed to grasp the Wolf King’s intentions.
“I’m trying to convey that by being consumed by the Titan Python and becoming one with it, you can receive the inheritance of the Titan Clan!”
The Wolf King suddenly raised its voice, slamming its claw onto the sarcophagus with a resounding noise.
Almost simultaneously, the Wolf King darted out.
Loong Chen’s expression shifted, and just as he prepared to react, the Titan Python inside the coffin abruptly opened its bronze-like eyes, emitting a chilling gleam.
The Titan Python let out a roar, surging out of the sarcophagus with its colossal body.
With eyes akin to lanterns, the creature greedily fixated on Loong Chen, resembling a famished wolf that had gone without food for over ten days and just spotted a small rabbit.
It had endured a prolonged period of hunger.
All of a sudden, the Titan Python parted its bloody maw and lunged toward Loong Chen. Even before it drew near, a pungent odor wafted into his nostrils.
A wave of nausea washed over him.
“Retreat!”
Long Chen urgently yelled and employed Teleportation to escape.
The Wolf King guarding the stone door watched Loong Chen, who had nearly fallen prey to the Titan Python, with a cold, maniacal laugh.
It knew that the Titan Python lay sealed within the sarcophagus and understood that to secure its own survival, Loong Chen had to be killed.
It lacked the strength to do so, but the Titan Python possessed that power. That’s why it had devised this trap and lured Loong Chen here.
And it had succeeded.
“Once you’re gone, I’ll return to Jinling City and feast on all those humans!”
The Wolf King erupted in boisterous laughter.
Yet, in the next moment, a voice emanated from beside it, causing the grin on its face to freeze.
It realized that Loong Chen had vanished into thin air. In the very next moment, that voice echoed beside it.
The Wolf King desperately tried to flee, but Loong Chen had no intention of letting it escape, firmly seizing the Wolf King’s throat.
“You set me up, didn’t you? You’ve truly angered me!”
Loong Chen’s countenance grew icy, realizing he had been deceived by an Orc. The humiliation coursed through him.
“No, please spare me!”
The Wolf King pleaded urgently, but this time, Loong Chen was determined not to grant it another opportunity.
Just as Loong Chen was about to strangle the Wolf King, the Titan Python, with its gory maw agape, lunged towards them.
Loong Chen hastily hurled the Wolf King towards the Titan Python.
“No!”
The Wolf King emitted a wretched cry, and in the blink of an eye, it was engulfed by the Titan Python.
It was an honor for it to meet its demise within the belly of their race’s Sacred Beast.
The Titan Python, having only consumed one wolf, remained evidently famished, and it continued its charge toward Loong Chen.
“Go to hell!”
Loong Chen roared with fury, no longer evading. He instantly channeled the power of World Dominating and slashed his blade.
