Chapter 60: How Should I Deal with You, God?
Chapter 60: How Should I Deal with You, God?
The whisper of the ancient god echoed clearly in Qin Jun's mind as he gazed at the towering ancient tree before him, his eyes deep and contemplative.
The tree seemed to come alive, its trunk covered in intricate patterns that recorded the passage of time, exuding an aura of ancientness and desolation.
【Good child, come closer.】
The ethereal voice seemed to come from beyond the heavens, carrying an enchanting power that made one want to submit, to kneel, and offer their faith.
Qin Jun's eyes turned deep and chaotic, as if bewitched by the voice. He stepped forward, approaching the roots of the ancient tree.
Standing there, Qin Jun felt a profound and mystical sensation, as if the tree before him was not a mere tree, but a high and mighty deity, a sublime and dormant higher being.
The next moment, a green light burst forth from the tree trunk, enveloping the entire forest.
Qin Jun felt the void shift, and he found himself in a different time and space. He stood in an open field, with temples floating in the distant sky, glowing with green divine light.
Above, the sky was overcast, oppressive as if the heavens were about to collapse, making it hard to breathe. Before Qin Jun, the ancient tree slowly transformed, its massive branches forming a staircase leading to the canopy. Without hesitation, Qin Jun began ascending the steps.
With each step, flowers bloomed around him, creating a pathway of blossoms leading to a heavenly paradise.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Qin Jun finally reached the top of the tree. A giant eye slowly opened before him, gazing at Qin Jun.
【Good child, you have finally arrived…】
The ancient tree trembled, and a humanoid figure emerged from behind the eye. It appeared to be a collection of plants, its body made of dead wood, its hands of flowers, and its legs and feet of vines, but it had an exquisitely beautiful face.
The face was indistinguishable in terms of gender and age. A flower bloomed in its left eye socket, while its right eye, green and glowing, stared at Qin Jun.
The gaze was gentle and doting, as if looking at the most perfect creation, the most cherished offspring.
“Who are you?” Qin Jun narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the majestic being before him.
“I am Elo, the Seed of Omnipotence. Also known as a god in your terms.” Elo smiled, patiently answering Qin Jun's question.
“A god?” Qin Jun's face showed no reverence or awe, only a frown.
However, he was not surprised. This world was no longer the scientific world of the past. After the apocalypse, humans awakened abilities akin to divine powers.
The black obelisks that emerged, inscribed with countless advanced technologies and incomprehensible texts, defied scientific explanation.
This was an apocalyptic world, but also a supernatural one.
Elo's smile remained, and he looked at Qin Jun with gentle eyes. “Indeed, the will of the gods has enveloped this planet, and I am one of them.”
“Do not doubt the existence of gods, nor question their power. We are beings beyond human imagination, greater than the laws of the universe.”
He looked at Qin Jun with tenderness. “Good child, your talent is extraordinary. You were born to be my most devout follower. It is destined that I share my glory with you.”
Qin Jun's eyes glinted, and he suddenly smiled. “And what is my reward?”
Elo's smile grew brighter as he eagerly extended a vine. “Good child, come and accept my gift. I will grant you endless power.”
Qin Jun stared at the vine, his eyes narrowing. He suddenly asked, “Your will cannot yet affect this world, can it?”
Elo's smile did not waver. “I am still in slumber. I need your help, my most devout follower.”
“What do you need me to do?”
Elo's single eye glowed. “This world has 24 black obelisks, creations of the Supreme God. Good child, I need you to collect the Divine Codex inscribed on these obelisks for me.”
Divine Codex?
Qin Jun's expression changed slightly as he recalled the black obelisk in Dongdu, covered in mysterious texts.
Even the most experienced linguists couldn't decipher them, finding no patterns or meanings, as if they were merely random symbols.
However, those symbols held maddening power. Many researchers had gone insane trying to study them, leading to the texts being sealed away.
It seemed those texts were the Divine Codex, and mortals would not be able to fathom their truth. Ordinary humans would go mad glimpsing a fragment of universal truth.
Elo smiled. “Once all the divine codex are gathered, I will become the new Supreme God, and you, as my most loyal and intimate servant, will rule this world for me, becoming its master.”
Elo explained many things, still smiling. “Do you have any other questions?”
“Just one last question.” Qin Jun's face gradually broke into a proud smile as he looked down at Eilo, his eyes filled with mockery and coldness.
“How should I deal with you, so-called god?”
