Doomsday Descends: My Villainous Destiny

Chapter 6: The Army Steps In

Chapter 6: The Army Steps In

Jiangjing University Gate, 6:20 PM.

A police car was parked by the roadside, and An Xinling, in her police uniform, looked heroic and imposing.

However, at the moment, An Xinling was arguing with several campus security officers from Jiangjing University.

“I am the head of the Anti-Terrorism Unit of the Municipal Bureau, here to pick someone up.”

The head of the campus security, a middle-aged officer named Jiang Dahai, looked troubled as he shook his head, “Officer, we just received a notice to close the campus, no one is allowed to enter or leave.”

Although he had checked An Xinling's police ID, he didn't give her any leeway.

After all, Jiangjing University, as a top university in the country, was directly under the jurisdiction of the Education Commission, and the Municipal Bureau had no authority over it.

Moreover, if he let someone leave and something happened, he would be the one facing the consequences!

An Xinling frowned deeply, feeling a bit frustrated. As the head of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, An Xinling knew a lot of things.

The entire police force of Jiangjing City had been mobilized to cooperate with the military in enforcing the lockdown.

They had even been authorized to carry firearms and could decide on their own whether to shoot if the situation got out of hand!

This was unprecedented.

However, An Xinling didn't want to directly invoke the name of her brother-in-law, An Feng, the governor of Jiangjing, in public by revealing that An Mian was his daughter.

Given the current special circumstances, if such news got out on the internet, it would be detrimental to An Feng's reputation.

After all, the An family's rise to power began with An Feng becoming the governor of Jiangjing, and their influence wasn't strong enough to silence all voices online.

Moreover, the position of governor of Jiangjing was highly coveted, with many political rivals eyeing it. A single mistake could give them an excuse to attack, so An Xinling and other An family members usually kept a low profile….

An Xinling asked, “Who is your direct supervisor?”

Jiang Dahai replied, “It’s Director Song Dongfang of the Academic Affairs Office of Jiangjing University.”

An Xinling nodded and made a phone call, speaking in a low voice. Seeing that the police officer was calling for backup, Jiang Dahai remained unperturbed.

After all, he was following the rules, and no one could fault him for that!

At this moment, An Mian and Chen Zhong also arrived at the school gate and saw An Xinling arguing with the security guards. An Mian immediately called out joyfully, “Aunt!”

An Xinling noticed Chen Zhong beside An Mian and was a bit surprised. However, she said nothing and simply nodded to Chen Zhong as a greeting.

She knew An Mian’s feelings and had a good impression of Chen Zhong. Since they had run into each other, she might as well take him along….

Their arrival also attracted the attention of many passing students, and a crowd began to gather. The students weren’t fools and quickly guessed what was happening.

They couldn’t help but feel envious. This was the privilege of power—to be picked up by a police car during a lockdown, how impressive!

At this moment, a rumbling sound could be heard as a convoy of military bulletproof off-road vehicles appeared at the gate of Jiangjing University.

Soon, fully armed soldiers got out of the vehicles, their guns loaded, surveying the surroundings with a vigilant and intimidating presence.

Following them, a captain also stepped out of the command vehicle, gave An Xinling a cold look, and then led a few soldiers to negotiate with the security guards at the gate.

“I am Li Weiguo, captain of the G17 squad under the Third Combat Brigade, here on official duty. Please cooperate!” Li Weiguo presented his military ID.

Without any hesitation, Jiang Dahai immediately opened the gate! He might have dared to not give An Xinling face, but he wouldn’t dare do the same with Li Weiguo.

Didn’t he see that the soldiers behind Li Weiguo had already loaded their guns? Jiang Dahai wouldn’t joke around with his life….

Meanwhile, Qin Jun, Xie Han, and Su Ya also arrived at the school gate.

Li Weiguo immediately recognized Qin Jun as the person he was supposed to escort. He quickly walked up to Qin Jun and saluted.

“I am Li Weiguo, captain of the G17 squad under the Third Combat Brigade, ordered to escort you to Jiangjing International Airport!”

Qin Jun smiled and nodded, “Thank you, Captain Li.”

Seeing this, the students watching from afar were in an uproar. Just moments ago, they were already impressed that An Mian could be picked up by a police car, feeling extremely envious.

Now, the military had shown up! If they felt envy before, now they were utterly shocked!

With such blatant privilege displayed before them, they realized that their academic achievements and talents were nothing in comparison!

Who exactly was this Qin Jun? Could his family be one of the seven members of the Countries Supreme Council?

Chen Zhong and An Mian also noticed Qin Jun and his group. Chen Zhong’s gaze immediately sharpened, filled with killing intent and hatred, but he quickly regained his composure.

Having lived through the apocalypse in his previous life, Chen Zhong had become incredibly strong and resolute. These were lessons learned in blood, and controlling one’s emotions was a basic survival skill in the apocalypse.

Chen Zhong buried his killing intent deep within, even feeling a hint of mockery. This Qin Jun probably still looked down on him like in the previous life, thinking he was just a poor nobody, right?

But now that he had been reborn, all the humiliation and grievances he had suffered would be repaid!

An Mian, on the other hand, glared at Su Ya with hostility. In her view, Su Ya was just a gold digger who loved the rich and despised the poor.

Additionally, Su Ya’s exquisite beauty made An Mian feel a bit insecure. More importantly, Chen Zhong still harbored feelings for Su Ya, which made An Mian jealous…

Qin Jun, of course, noticed Chen Zhong and An Mian. As he looked at Chen Zhong’s expressionless face, the system’s notification sounded in his ear.

“Ding, assessing the potential value of the Child of Destiny, Chen Zhong… Assessment complete, potential value: SSS-level!!!”

Hearing the system’s assessment, Qin Jun raised an eyebrow. He knew that the government had locked down the information to prevent panic, with only a few high-level officials aware of the true severity of the situation.

He wasn’t surprised to see An Mian here, as her father was the governor of Jiangjing and would certainly send someone to pick her up, but seeing Chen Zhong here was interesting….

If it were the old Chen Zhong, he would have stayed obediently in his dormitory, but now, Chen Zhong was here with An Mian, preparing to leave Jiangjing University.

Was it because An Mian had learned the news and decided to take Chen Zhong with her? Or did Chen Zhong already know what would happen in the future?

If Chen Zhong knew nothing and was just being taken by An Mian, then how could the system evaluate Chen Zhong’s potential value as SSS-level?

There must be a great secret hidden within Chen Zhong….
