Doomsday Descends: My Villainous Destiny

Chapter 57: The Zombie King

Chapter 57: The Zombie King

Compared to the anger and shock of the Donghua City Evolvers, Qin Jun's expression remained calm. He had no personal vendetta against those shelters.

He wasn't a sadistic devil who enjoyed seeing shelters destroyed by zombie hordes. It was simply the easiest way to avoid the zombie horde.

Using the survivors in those shelters as bait would keep the zombies away from the city center for a while, giving them time to hunt the Zombie King. That was all.

Without a conflict of interest, Qin Jun was quite amiable, polite, and approachable—a seemingly gentle person.

But once there was a conflict of interest, he would reveal his ruthless and merciless nature. To him, human lives were just numbers, insignificant numbers.

The strongmen of Donghua City looked at each other, but under the overwhelming pressure of the Qin family's experts, they had to comply.

Although they felt sorry for the innocent survivors, they weren't willing to risk their lives to go against the Qin family. Ultimately, their own lives were more important.

A few Donghua City experts gritted their teeth and quietly moved to the street barricades. These barricades had been set up by Blood Bear and his men.

They couldn't help but feel a sense of irony. The supposedly brutal Blood Bear had prevented the zombie outbreak in the city center, while Qin Jun, who appeared as a liberator by killing Blood Bear, was now releasing the zombies to annihilate the last survivors of Donghua City.

The Donghua City experts destroyed the barricades. Without the barricades, the zombie horde surged out like a flood, rushing down the streets.

From a distance, it looked like a lady had burst—a scene that was truly horrifying! The roar of zombies echoed, reverberating between the tall buildings, creating an overwhelming sense of fear.

This city had completely become a city of the dead. Qin Jun's eyes were somber and expressionless. He knew that once the zombies were freed, all survivors in Donghua City would become zombie fodder.

The entire city would no longer have any shelters, turning into a city of death. But none of this stirred any emotion in him. To him, Donghua City was worthless.

Although it was near Dongdu, it was a third-tier city with little industrial base, focusing mainly on services and tourism.

Even if the Qin family dispatched an army to eliminate the zombies, it would only result in an empty city.

Furthermore, the Qin family in Dongdu was now focused on dealing with several major forces emerging in the southeastern region.

Turning Donghua City into a dead city was advantageous to the Qin family—it ensured no significant power would rise behind their backs for a while.

After a while, the zombie horde in the city center finally dispersed.

“Move!”

With Qin Jun's command, the Qin family experts and the remaining Donghua City experts headed towards the city center.

With the barricades gone, there were few zombies left in the city center. The large zombie horde had been diverted, following the scent of the living. Only a few scattered zombies remained and were quickly dealt with.

Now, Qin Jun had over a hundred Evolvers under his command, including the Donghua City experts. They soon reached the mysterious forest that had suddenly appeared.

This forest, spanning several kilometers, had emerged after the apocalypse. Vines covered the tall buildings, grass grew underfoot, and many bizarre trees stood tall, creating an eerie atmosphere.

As they stepped into the forest, a sense of oppression grew, as if this place did not belong to humans, and trespassers would be punished.

The Donghua City experts wore grave expressions, knowing a fierce battle awaited them. They had to fight for the Qin family experts watching from behind.

To survive, they had to act as cannon fodder for the Qin family. However, Qin Jun hinted that if they could kill the Zombie King, they might join the Qin family in Dongdu.

This prospect tempted them. They had once been leaders of shelters, enjoying a decent life with their abilities, but seeing the Qin family experts made them realize what true power was.

Even Evolvers needed the backing of a powerful force to thrive in the apocalypse. Without such support, they would be like the Donghua City experts, forced to bow and scrape before powerful entities.

If joining the Qin family in Dongdu required braving this danger, it would be worth it.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, the sense of danger intensified with each step. Finally, they reached the heart of the forest, where a colossal ancient tree stood, its massive canopy blocking out the sky and casting a thousand shadows.

No one knew how this tree appeared, but it was larger and older than any tree on Earth. At the tree's roots knelt a zombie.

The Zombie King's back was split open, blood vessels extending from its flesh and connecting to the tree trunk. The scene was so bizarre it made everyone shiver. The Zombie King was absorbing the tree's nutrients?!

Sensing the increasing terror in the Zombie King's aura, the Donghua City experts exchanged glances and charged at the Zombie King.

The Zombie King was evolving, making it the perfect time to kill it. If they waited until it was fully evolved, they might not stand a chance even if they joined forces.
