Chapter 47: No Longer an Ant

Donghua City, First Affiliated Hospital.

“Master, something terrible has happened!” A subordinate rushed into the room, looking panicked as he shouted to Blood Bear.

Blood Bear frowned and said in a deep voice, “What’s wrong? Why the panic?”

“A military force is heading towards our shelter. It seems to be from the Qin family in Dongdu!”

“Qin family from Dongdu?” Blood Bear was first shocked, then his heart sank.

The Qin family from Dongdu? Why would they suddenly come to Donghua City? Blood Bear quickly guessed that the news about the Zombie King had leaked. The Qin family had found out and wanted to seize the Zombie King.

In his mind, the images of Wang Hai and Wang Zhi flashed. When he had annexed other shelters, the one Wang Hai had established wasn’t the largest but resisted the most fiercely. 

Later, Wang Hai and Wang Zhi escaped in the chaos, and he didn’t pay attention to them. After all, he now had thirty or forty Evolvers under his command. What trouble could just two Evolvers cause?

Now it seemed, Wang Hai couldn’t stir up much trouble on his own. But he had informed the Qin family about the Zombie King, summoning this powerful force!

His words showed that he considered himself the boss of Donghua City.

“The army! The country has come to save us!”

Despite their fear of Blood Bear’s brutal methods, they secretly hoped the army would rescue them. However, they only dared to hope in their hearts and did not dare to say anything.

Blood Bear, accompanied by his Evolvers, appeared at the shelter’s gate. He saw the well-trained army outside and the formidable experts from the Qin family, and his heart sank. 

So many Evolvers? 

There must be over seventy! Blood Bear had annexed many shelters, consolidating almost all of Donghua City’s forces under his command, yet he only had a little over forty Evolvers, most of whom had only recently awakened their talents and had not undergone much cultivation.

Getting energy crystals was not easy. Although there were tens of thousands of survivors in the shelter, they were all ordinary people. They could handle odd jobs but were too weak to fight zombies. 

Blood Bear had managed to get some firearms from the police station, but they were only light weapons like pistols, with very limited ammunition. Therefore, to obtain energy crystals, the Evolvers had to hunt zombies themselves. 

Ordinary people could only assist. Most of the energy crystals obtained were monopolized by Blood Bear.

Seeing the Qin family’s Evolvers, Blood Bear’s subordinates felt overshadowed. The Qin family’s Evolvers all wore uniform black military uniforms, exuding an extremely dangerous aura, full of oppressive force. 

In contrast, Blood Bear’s men were dressed in various colors, looking like a bunch of bandit rabble.

Though Blood Bear knew the Qin family came for the Zombie King, he still spoke politely. The Qin family from Dongdu was not someone he could provoke. Then he saw a handsome young man step out of a luxurious extended car, surrounded by strong experts.

The handsome young man, about 1.8 meters tall, looked slim compared to Blood Bear, but his aura was noble. His calm expression and indifferent eyes made him look superior. 

Despite Blood Bear’s imposing presence, he was overshadowed. Standing before Blood Bear, all eyes were on the handsome young man, ignoring Blood Bear.

The young man looked up at Blood Bear and smiled slightly, “I am Qin Jun.”

Qin Jun?!

Blood Bear was shocked. He thought a member of the Qin family had come, which was enough to make him cautious. 

In this apocalyptic world, even a side branch of the Qin family was untouchable. But he never expected the future master of the Qin family to come personally!

“Young Master Qin, what brings you to Donghua City? Hehe, I, Blood Bear, am now the ruler here. If you need anything, I will surely assist!”

Blood Bear’s face showed a mix of flattery and fear. Suddenly, he felt a strange sensation. Just a couple of months ago, he was a small-time gangster in Donghua City. 

Qin Jun was the son of Qin Yuan, the top elite of the country. In front of such a noble second generation, he was just an ant, as insignificant as dust, with no chance to ever meet someone like Qin Jun. But now, he could stand before Qin Jun.

He was no longer an ant!
