Chapter 32
C32 – Dragon Clan Arena!
“Great Sorcerer?”
Upon hearing Choo Qin’s inquiry about ascending to the rank of Great Sorcerer, Chen Kai was slightly taken aback.
“In the case of a Great Sorcerer, the ranks across each Mage Plane likely vary, don’t they? Are you a Sorcerer? I couldn’t detect any magical presence from you.”
He had previously assumed Choo Qin was merely a common stroke of luck.
“In the Dragon Void, guides select the most fitting kin to ensure you integrate more swiftly. If you have any questions going forward, feel free to ask me directly.”
“To become a Great Sorcerer, one must establish a source. If you’re familiar with the Small Spell, it makes the concept easier to grasp.”
“The Small Spell creates a barrier against external magical forces, generating an internal cycle. In contrast, the Great Sorcerer and the Great Spell involve creating a source that connects with the external environment.”
“Once you’ve established your source, you can progress to Great Sorcerer. Beyond that, when your source evolves into a domain, you reach what is known as the Ring Level Magic God.”
Chen Kai provided a succinct explanation, yet he elaborated that the source is an enigmatic element.
Many individuals attempt to define their source before they have sufficient magical reserves, while others may remain Sorcerers for years without nearing the threshold.
Chen Kai addressed each of Choo Qin’s additional queries in turn.
Choo Qin also came to the realization that despite having access to the Upgrade System, his knowledge of magic was somewhat lacking. He resolved to undertake systematic study upon his return to Thundery Castle.
“Here we are at the Arena.”
“You might want to start with the Dragon Clan Arena. Matches here are often based on strength, making it an excellent venue. I’ll wait for you to finish.”
Chen Kai led Choo Qin to the base of an immense dragon horn.
Past the horn lay a luminous hall where the dragons had been withdrawn into another dimension, bustling with Dragon Tamers.
Choo Qin, filled with curiosity, ventured into the hall, encountering elves, orcs, insects, and even robots along the way.
He eventually came to an unoccupied booth, its interior sleek and equipped with an assortment of peculiar devices.
Without hesitation, he scanned the Dragon Pattern and initiated his first Arena match.
“Ding! Match successful. This is your first Arena match. Total matches: 0, victories: 0.”
The battlefield was set in a deep valley, facing off against a dragon and a Goblin cloaked in green.
Choo Qin eyed the Goblin warily, determined not to let his first battle end in defeat.
With caution, he conjured a shield and arranged several formations, his gaze fixed on the figure before him.
“Roar!”
Alyssa let out a thunderous roar and unleashed a powerful Dragon Breath.
And then, silence.
”Ding! Victory is yours. You have earned 1 Dragon Coin.”
Choo Qin: “…”
Alyssa seldom took action when with Choo Qin, but this time, as he assumed a defensive stance, she obliterated the opposition with a single breath, leaving behind only a frozen Goblin and Wind Dragon.
“Ding! Match successful. This is your second bout in the Arena, bringing your total to one win and one loss.”
“Fire Cage, Explosive Fireball.”
“Ding! Congratulations on achieving a second consecutive victory. You have earned 2 Dragon Coins.”
Choo Qin: “…”
“Ding! Congratulations on your third consecutive victory…”
“Ding! You’ve achieved ten consecutive victories and earned a Dragon Essence Soul.”
“Ding…”
Not one adversary could withstand a single move from Choo Qin.
He began to wonder if he, a king, was constantly being matched against novices.
Eventually, even Alyssa grew bored, roaring a couple of times before lying down to watch the spectacle, later not even bothering to roar.
Concerned that Chen Kai might be left waiting too long, Choo Qin reluctantly left the Arena, feeling somewhat let down. He had hoped for a real challenge.
“What’s the matter? Did the battle go well? Was it thrilling?”
“The Arena can be tough. When you’re up against a powerhouse, there’s not much to say. Just don’t lose heart. I remember losing five straight when I started, but I’ve gradually improved.”
Seeing Choo Qin emerge with a downcast expression, Chen Kai assumed he had been bested and began offering words of comfort.
“Don’t worry. Once your Frost Dragon matures, you’ll be able to dominate them.”
Choo Qin: “…”
