Chapter 21
C21 – Zhen Qiuqiu!
“Thirteenth Prince, if it’s alright with you, I can arrange for a maid to dance with you.”
Jiaang Guangran sauntered up to Choo Qin, giving him a challenging look.
Trailing behind him was a veiled girl. Choo Qin, using a touch of his magic, sensed the face beneath the veil and was taken aback.
One side of her face was strikingly beautiful, pristine and flawless, reminiscent of tender moonlight.
The other side was grotesque, with features so twisted they were difficult to bear.
The maid was biting her lower lip, her gaze tinged with a pallor likely born from enduring much prejudice in such an aristocratic setting.
“Oh? How generous of you.”
Choo Qin regarded Jiaang Guangran with an amused smile. The Earl’s son seemed to be growing quite adept at underestimating him.
Finishing the last piece of bread, Choo Qin wiped his hands clean.
The nobles might scorn him, but the feeling was mutual.
The Rain Listening Pavilion, including the guards outside, housed 32 Beginner Level Mages, 4 High Level Mages, and 1 Sorcerer.
All combined, they would likely fall short against the High Level Rune Choo Qin had recently mastered, the Meteor Fire Rain.
Their confidence was truly baffling.
“Dancing with me comes at a price, and it’s not insignificant,” Choo Qin quipped, turning to Jiaang Guangran with a playful tone.
“Naturally. The Thirteenth Prince has ascended to royalty. I’ve prepared many gifts for you, my prince.”
Jiaang Guangran stood tall, laughing heartily, confident that his plans were unfolding perfectly.
“I just wonder if the Loser Royal Highness can truly accept all these gifts.”
With a snicker, Choo Qin breezed past Jiaang Guangran and took the hand of the maid.
The aristocrats around them gasped, shocked that the Loser Royal Highness had so boldly fallen for Jiaang Guangran’s ploy.
This maid, known as Zhen Qiuqiu, was quite the celebrity in Long Song City.
With Hejiao gracing the east, and Qiuqiu the west.
Yet, while Jiaang Hejiao was celebrated as the foremost lady of Long Song City,
Zhen Qiuqiu bore the infamy of being the most unsightly woman on the western streets.
“It’s fine, don’t be afraid,” Choo Qin said nonchalantly.
He spoke gently to Zhen Qiuqiu beside him and effortlessly cast the Ultimate Healing Arts.
Choo Qin wasn’t concerned with appearances, but he had to admit that dancing with a beauty was far more pleasant than with a strange-looking girl.
He wasn’t sure if Zhen Qiuqiu’s features were naturally that way or marred by some accident, but he felt inclined to help the young girl.
Sure enough.
As the Ultimate Healing Arts took effect, Zhen Qiuqiu felt a warmth spread across her face.
Shrouded in her cloak, she was unaware of the transformation that had taken place.
The music began, and all eyes were glued to Choo Qin and Zhen Qiuqiu at the center of the stage.
The crowd was bracing for a laugh when Zhen Qiuqiu would unveil her supposedly hideous face.
Rumors would surely fly throughout Long Song City by tomorrow, gossiping about the Loser Royal Highness dancing with the foremost ugly girl.
The veil was lifted.
Laughter erupted from Jiaang Guangran, who couldn’t contain himself any longer. The thought of the unsightly girl dancing with Choo Qin, juxtaposed with the memory of the Thirteenth Prince, filled him with glee.
However, reality didn’t match his expectations.
His laughter was met with a deafening silence; not a single person joined in.
When he turned to look at the stage, his laughter abruptly ceased, and in the next moment, Jiaang Guangran’s face turned the color of liver, his earlier demeanor now clownish.
“Is that… is that Zhen Qiuqiu?”
“That ugly girl? No, that can’t be right. Aren’t the scars on her face said to be beyond even a Sorcerer’s healing?”
“Well, if she’s truly been healed, Zhen Qiuqiu is actually quite attractive.”
The initial silence gave way to a murmur of whispers among the crowd.
Zhen Qiuqiu stood there, dumbfounded. She had braced herself for ridicule, prepared to face the crowd’s laughter once more, but the reality was starkly different from her fears.
Touching her face, she found the rough, terrifying texture gone, replaced by skin that was incredibly smooth. She was at a loss for words, unable to grasp the sudden change.
She had long since given up hope for her face, having even sought the help of a High Level Mage, only to be told that there was no cure!
“Hmm, you look quite nice. So, I won’t ask for your hand in marriage—just a dance will do.”
Choo Qin gazed at the dazed girl, unable to suppress the tears of joy welling up in his eyes, and instinctively patted her head.
Thanks to his Ultimate Healing Arts, Zhen Qiuqiu’s appearance had been completely transformed. Moreover, with Choo Qin’s deliberate mana restoration, her face was now even more delicate than before.
The music continued, swaying with a lingering melody that accentuated the stark contrast between the movements, making the couple on stage seem like a perfect match.
The music came to a close.
Choo Qin stretched languidly.
“My apologies for the intrusion.”
“However, since today is my welcome party, I’d like to say a few words. I can’t let Young Master Ye have all the fun.”
“For instance, I heard from Young Master Ye that everyone has prepared many gifts to welcome me. I’m quite eager to see them.”
A full stomach and a dance with a beautiful woman—what more could one ask for?
He had no intention of letting any of the ripe opportunities before him slip away.
“Today, no one leaves.”
With a sweep of his hand, a massive Fire Cage enveloped the entire Rain Listening Pavilion.
“I’m not here to rob you; you invited me over.”
“…”
