Chapter 63
63 Chapter 63: Invincible duo
Jason returned and give his testimony on what happened with the mutant beast. According to him, he and Alex fought an injured mutant beast on the verge of evolving to the tiger threat level and although that sounds lame, everyone knew the strength gap between a wolf treat level beast and a tiger threat level beast is as far as the earth and the heavens.
According to him, Alex utilized the matter absorption ability to absorb the properties of his beast gear which enabled him to fight the beast head-on. After investigation, it was confirmed that the black spear was a weapon that surpassed the wolf level but was not up to the tiger level.
How he got it was another question but that had nothing to do with Alex.
He claimed he and Alex cooperating and with the aid of a martial technique that created some sort of rumbling sound, Alex who was unable to harm the beat soon gained enough strength to damage it. According to him, the battle was fierce but with his powerful healing abilities he was able to keep both alive since he had a powerful healing ability which was rated B, this part was believable.
Finally, he claimed that Alex saved his life. He claimed the beast somehow manage to harness the power of the blue gem, increasing its power exponentially. Seeing him as the main threat it attached him violently and shattered his spear. Just before it could finish him off, Alex was able to strike from behind puncturing a hole in its chest before pulling out the blue gem, making it lose its power.
Wilder watched everything unfold and when Alex was asked to display the martial technique he used to harm the beast, Alex did not hesitate to show the second stage of the demon-kin technique. Right before their eyes, he took twenty-five breaths, at the end of his body was blood red and unstable! Without thinking punched forward, shattering what remained of the black spear which was used as evidence leaving everyone stunned, including Wilder.
He knew Alex somehow managed to kill the bat mutant beast but to prevent long processes and investigations which will keep Alex distracted for a long while he allowed him to learn the second stage of the technique. He wanted to use it as a cover-up and he didn’t think Alex would have achieved up to ten breathes but here Alex used twenty-five!
His talent is monstrous!
He looked at Alex with his cold eyes for a while before leaving the room without saying a word. Meanwhile, that was enough information for them to decide to give Alex the twin daggers. Meanwhile, Alex and Jason were forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Apparently, the information concerning artificial deviants is yet to be made public and they intended to keep it that way. Meanwhile, the version of the story released to the public was altered slightly with the matter absorption part hidden from the public eye. They chose to hype Alex’s skills to cover his lack of defense to make the story more believable.
.....
Alex and Jason didn’t bother themselves anymore with the matter. With the matter resolved they quickly returned only to find out that the twin demon bat daggers have been sent over to his place.
“What are you waiting for, we don’t have all day, take the knife already!” Jason said grumpily and Alex revealed an evil smile.
“What did you do?” Tracy asked Alex coldly.
“Nothing I swear!” Alex laughed.
“Demonstrating the second stage of his secret technique, he chose to shatter what is left of my spear!” Jason complained
“It was already broken! I simply used it to convince them!” Alex fought hard to hold back the laugh.
Hearing this Silver fell to the ground laughing violently. He rolled across the ground, holding his belly while Tracy tried to console Jason. She wasn’t moved though since this has become a normal day to day activity. Alex and Jason were just like cats and dogs, they always found a way to harmlessly piss each other off. It has happened so often that Tracy had already gotten used to it while Silver saw this as a source of entertainment.
Alex didn’t hesitate any further as he quickly grabbed twin daggers and instantly his vision was clouded with darkness. The place where he fought the mutant beast slowly came to life in his es and the mighty mutant bat with the blue gem stuck in its chest stormed forward with so much power any other person would be too terrified and lose control.
“I killed you before, I will kill you again!” Alex growled fearlessly as he swung forward without hesitation.
The daggers in his hands tore through the darkness and his vision returned to normal. At this point, Alex felt a surge of information race into his head, he felt the bond between him and the blades, allowing him to know what it is capable of.
“He tamed the beast gear instantly? If it were a wolf-level beast gear I can understand, but this is a pseudo tiger-level beast gear!” Jason was stunned and Tracy was also shocked.
She knew Alex is strong but she never thought he was strong enough to do something like this.
“Are you guys dumb? He got a hundred percent compatibility rate during the entrance exam!! If he couldn’t do this much I will be shocked... This is why he is our ace!” Silver said while gazing at them as if he was looking at idiots.
Hearing Silver’s words they were even more stunned. No one would have thought it is possible for someone to get a hundred percent compatibility rate and if it were anyone that told them this, they wouldn’t have believed. They always believed that creating a new family that can rival the big four may be impossible but extremely hard but each time Alex and Silver made a move, it boosted their confidence. There were like the Invincible duo that can make the impossible possible!
———————-
Checking the list of recruits and allocations, Alex realizes he and Silver are set to work for a B-rated guardian known as Angel. It was strange that he and Silver were set to the same person and it was just both of them but he didn’t ask questions. He already knew Silver must have a hand in it. As far as Alex is concerned none of that mattered since e wasn’t too excited by the exercise.
Unknown to him, most recruits were sent to C-rated guardians and only the representatives of the big four were opportuned to work with A rated guardians. The world was jealous of them but helpless to fate as well. They could only watch and whisper about it, but none dared to speak out.
In a week they were already done packing and they left for Angel beat hero agency. A hero agency owned by the guardian. Going through more details about the hero, Alex was a bit surprised. Not only did the guardian refuse to work for the government, but he also created his own group and began recruiting other guardians under his agency. While this is common for high ranked guardians from the A rating and above, it is rare to see a mid-tier deviant doing this.
As expected, the Angel Beats Agency is only patronized by people who can’t afford bigger agencies and even then, many people would rather save money for an A-rated agency than that one.
“In summary, you got us an Agency close to running out of business... Are you dumb?” Alex asked with raised eyebrows.
The other Big four representatives are currently working with A rated guardian agencies, yet they are stuck with a B rated guardian about to go broke. Alex knew Silver tampered with some things to put them here and he wanted to know why.
“A failing agency may look like hell to most people but I see an opportunity” Silver said.
“Yes, we can help bring it back to its feet with our family’s resources and good grades but so what? If you tell me you choose to rope them into our little scheme I will smack the shit out of you... I have no intentions of working with weaklings” Alex said coldly.
“Says the man who is D rated at best” Jason snorted but Alex chose to ignore it.
“Chill... If we worked for bigger Agencies we wouldn’t have been able to bring these two along... We are also looking for recognition... Why to go to a place filled with talents when we can go to a place where we can stand out and make a name for ourselves” Silver said with a mischievous smile.
“Making one or two connections won’t hurt” Silver added.
Hearing this Alex yawned and slapped his face with his palm. He knew his time here will be painful and stressful.
“D rated humans helping a B rated guardian... Just tell me if you want me dead, there is no reason for you to put me through all this stress!” Alex lamented.
