Chapter 57
57 Chapter 57: 3 months?
Wilder’s hand firmly held Alex’s shoulder and his fighting will almost crumbled but he refused to fall. Gazing at the towering man alone made Alex feel like he was going through the greatest trial he will need to face in his life. Once again he was reminded of his life goal, which is to surpass this man and create his family which will become the newest member of the big four.
His eyes narrowed as he regained his composure and we stood firm. Gazing at the 7ft tall man, Alex had to look up, his neck hurt, his breathing was heavy and right now he felt worn out but when facing his enemy, he didn’t dare show weakness.
Wilder kept gazing at him for a few seconds before letting go of him. Wilder said nothing else and quietly turned around and left the room. Only then did Alex exhale and fall to his knees with a terribly pale face. The matter absorption undid itself, revealing Alex’s dire condition under the skin of metal.
“Truly impressive... I can see why the Briggs still keep you around” Bruce Ainsworth said calmly before turning around and leaving the room. He didn’t bother giving Silver or Tracy a look, he simply walked away quietly.
“ARE YOU CRAZY?” Silver screamed as he ran towards Alex.
They planned to protect him and help him recover but right now his condition is far worse than It was. Seeing him like this, Silver felt guilty and ashamed. He couldn’t help Alex against the mutant bat and now he also failed to protect them, instead, he got protected again.
“Why did you do something so reckless... No one knows your condition better than you... You made your condition even worse... Your hands... You sustained internal injuries... Why would you do something this crazy? Did you really think you can win against an SS-rated monster like him?” Tracy turned pale as she examined Alex’s injuries. She was terrified by how much he was hurt just by trying to fight Wilder.
And the funny thing is that Wilder wasn’t even trying to hurt him, neither did he try to fight back.
“I wish I could ignore all of this, I just couldn’t help it... I couldn’t stay idle and let someone harm you all... In the end, winning didn’t matter... All I cared about is doing the best I could at the moment... I just couldn’t turn a blind eye to this... At this point, I believed I would be extremely willing to go against the country if it meant saving your lives” Alex said blankly.
.....
He too was stunned by his actions and he didn’t know how to explain them. He wasn’t thinking at that moment, all he could think of was protecting these two and that is why he dared to go against Wilder. Unknown to him, his actions and words got to Tracy. Her face was steaming red as she heard Alex’s words. The Ainsworths are unusually pale and the complexion matched their silver eyes. It made them look extremely cool and attractive, but it also made it very visible whenever they blushed. Tracy was born in a powerful family and was given almost everything. A young and independent woman can be considered the hardest to impress and many men have come along trying to impress her with things she already has, wealth and power but today Alex did something no one has done before. He put his life on the line for her another little brother and fought against an Ss-rated human. This is something that made her heart beat faster as she gazed at Alex. Everything got jumbled in her head, leaving her confused and disturbed.
At this point, she was lost in her thoughts, not knowing how to react to this.
Of course, Alex was too distracted to notice his. He was too weak to overthink things, especially when it has to do with girls. Meanwhile, Silver noticed his blushing sister and revealed a mischievous smile.
_______________________________________________________________
Due to his injuries and need to recover in just a month for the trip outside the walls, Tracy somehow managed to convince the Ainsworth family head to let her escort Alex back to the military academy and act as his personal nurse.
On the way back, Alex learned a couple of things that happened after he passed out. Apparently, Silver had arrived on time with military officers just before the hunter could take his life. He learned from Silver that Hunter’s name is Jason Brown and he is currently imprisoned and awaiting trial. Meanwhile, the shelter games had already taken place and although the big four representatives fought well, they were eliminated at the later stages of the competition.
They may have lost but they gained the respect of the people. Not only did they fight well but they also fought against a set above them. It may just be one year but the gap in strength and experience is an undeniable fact. Al this happened in just the there months he was unconscious, even someone as calm as Alex found it how to maintain his expressionless face.
“Damn it... How did I lose it all?” Alex muttered.
“What about the mutant beast... What happened to it?” Alex asked hastily.
He put in so much effort just to kill it. Hearing that the Government has taken it for itself will simply mean all that effort has been wasted. He also remembered the blue gem, he also lost that as well.
“Calm down, you haven’t lost it... The demon bat has been used to forge a dual short sword. Everyone has already agreed it is rightfully yours but there is a simple problem” Tracy said calmly while adjusting her glasses.
“What?” Alex tried to maintain his cool as he responded.
“The environment where the battle took place was just too shocking and the only two people who fought the beast are you and the hunter... They need to know how you were able to gain so much power” Tracy said calmly but her eyes were glued on Alex to know what his reaction would be like.
