Chapter 28: Consequences of Fate
Chapter 28: Consequences of Fate
Fate is a funny thing. It can lead to things that normally wouldn't happen, to, well, happen! Such as Jay's decision not to help Levi and intervene.
The children were taken care of by Cha and the others until they passed away. Then the children, who were still not even adolescents, were officially left on their own. They didn't have any trouble adapting as their power was several times higher than any other creature on the planet! If Gregaaze's power was a 1 then their power had already reached 4! They were still growing more as time passed as well.
Then it happened, the solstice had occurred once more, and Levi took to his flight, hoping that his children would be ok. This had an unintended effect of darkness energy creeping up on the pagusi as they were eating and resting. As soon as they felt this energy, they instinctively knew that they must stay away from it at all costs, and so they started running to escape. When they met an obstacle they simply destroyed it or flew over it.
While they were running over a new continent they had just landed on they passed by a primitive outpost. The inhabitants of this primitive outpost, the trench dwarves, immediately acted with caution and fled back to the trench where they believed it would be safe.
The Pegasi were threatened by the pointy sticks the trench dwarves aimed at them. In retaliation, 2 of them fired off a warning shot of pure light at them to ward them off. But Murphy's law took hold of them at this moment as their light attack lit up a grain storage area, lighting the whole primitive building into fire instantly!
The trench dwarves rightfully considered this a very powerful attack, and thus immediately started to stack themselves defensively while other dwarves frantically carried primitive buckets splashed the water they carried from the pond onto the lit building.
The Pegasi were frightened by the fire, and promptly retreated to continue running!
The trench dwarves realized they were safe now and focused all their attention on putting out the fire!
However fate had other plans for them, as the trench dwarves had places this building on top of a "beautiful black rock" as it appealed to them. However this black rock was actually a coal equivalent that had a much higher density and combustion effect than Jays previous world.
The coal instantly lit up after catching fire and let out a massive heat wave as it exploded in a torrent of fire and death!
This killed 3 of the dwarves and another 3 were injured and burned. The dwarves were now in full panic mode and there was only one Dwarf who managed to stay calm throughout the entire ordeal. It was a small Dwarven teen named Hephaestus Rust. He had always had a calm temperament, but it really shined through in this moment.
Rust looked up at the fire that was burning a low hanging ceiling and instantly something caught his eye! The ceiling, which was by all accounts fully solid, was actually melting!
Rust was astonished as he watched the ceiling drip and fall off the top like it was his aunt's famous gruel.
He looked at the ceiling, which was now on the ground as it continued to bubble and make odd sounds from time to time.
After about 30 minutes, the fire was almost put out, but would occasionally spark, so everyone was looking at it and constantly watering any part that even looked close to sparking.
Rust walked up to the ceiling piece that had fallen off and instead of liquid like he had clearly seen, the ceiling was now solid again and it sat upon the floor as if just waiting for someone to pick it up.
Rust did just that as he picked up the piece and studied it carefully. This ceiling piece was really different now that it had gone through that fire process. Instead of looking like the ceiling above him, this new ceiling piece had more... shine? Beauty? He didn't know, but in this moment as he stared at this unassuming piece of ceiling, something in the depths of soul willed him to continue exploring what this was!
Rust was surprised as his normal calm attitude that wasn't ever phased suddenly was filled to the brim with passion and desire!
Rust quickly broke off another piece of ceiling and then a piece of the black rock. He then grabbed some extra grain that wouldn't be used and absconded away, back to his personal room.
He moved everything of value away from a corner and placed the black rock down. Then he placed his grain down and attempted to light the grain. He of course knew how to do such a simple task and very quickly both components lit up.
Rust then took the ceiling piece and placed it in a stone pot that was then hung over the newly created fire. Just like before, the ceiling liquefied, bubbling and making odd sounds.
Rust put the fiery liquid into the bowl and waited approximately 30 minutes, just like before. Rust then banged the bowl a couple of times and even had to break it just so he could see the ceiling piece.
Now that the bowl was shattered and the crudely formed disc now sat comfortably in Rusts hands, he took a look at all its intricacies.
As he looked at it he thought about its new name as it obviously couldn't be called "ceiling". He took the word for pretty and the word for Grey and combined them as he looked at this new thing in his hand. He whispered as if someone was there with him,"You are so magnificent, my IRon."
(I = pretty / Ron = grey. Just some useless lore)
