Vol. 1 - Chapter 1 - Find Your Father
Ten years later, inside the Monster Domain Forest…
Inside a forest on a magnificent mountain range, a wooden house stood in the vast forest, looking incongruous with its environment.
In the courtyard, Ning Yechen was sitting on a rocking chair, wearing his self-made sunglasses with a glass of juice in his hand, looking very relaxed.
As he rocked the chair, he happily enjoyed the sun.
This was the life!
He could sleep for as long as he wanted every day without any disturbance. There was no school, work, or fighting.
When he got hungry, he could eat the fruits, vegetables, and herbs he had planted.
When he got bored, he could go fishing for the fish he had grown in the lake.
Life was good.
Compared to fighting all the time and going to every realm to challenge others, this was the life he had always wanted!
The only shortcoming was that he had been living here alone for over a century, and it was starting to get boring.
In this world, there were no phones or entertainment of any kind. Every day was very repetitive. So after a century, it was starting to tire him.
Even though he had people to talk to, they were terrified of him, so it was meaningless.
Ning Yechen could not help thinking about that fateful night ten years ago.
For the past ten years, whenever he had nothing to do, he could not help thinking about it.
The events of those nights were deeply engraved in his mind and unforgettable.
_Am I lonely from spending over a century single? _Ning Yechen wondered.
Otherwise, it did not make sense why he kept thinking about those nights recently.
At the time, he had simply wanted to save the woman and did not want any disturbance to his reclusive life, so he did not think much of it back then.
However, he could not stop thinking about it now.
Then again, he did not even know the woman's name, and they would probably never meet again.
Ning Yechen shook his head, throwing the thought to the back of his mind, and closed his eyes.
Since he had decided to live in reclusion, he should not think too much.
At this moment, Ning Yechen suddenly opened his eyes.
Someone was here!
His divine sense could detect one… no… two people approaching him!
People actually managed to make it all the way here.
This is rare. How interesting. He had lived in reclusion here for over a century, and only one woman had been able to enter the territory ten years ago.
Other than her, no one had been able to find their way here.
Ning Yechen felt as though he had discovered something interesting. His lips curved upward slightly as he clapped his hands. The formation near the wooden house disappeared.
He wanted to see what they were here for.
In the luxuriant forest, a woman with a beautiful body and a gorgeous face was walking slowly.
The woman looked pale and exhausted.
On her back was a little girl of roughly 3 to 4 years old with exquisite features, looking as adorable and pretty as a doll.
The little girl had soft black hair and a chubby little face. Her face was exquisite, and her big, beautiful eyes looked very curious as she kept looking around. She asked in a soft tone, “Mommy, where are we going?”
Luo Ruying turned around with a smile and said to the little girl on her back, “Didn't you always say you wanted to see your father, Yeye? We’re going to find him now.”
Even though there was a genial smile on her face, there was also some worry.
Ten years had passed. She did not expect that she would take her daughter to the Mortal Realm to look for the man from those nights.
Strangely, after following the path in her memory, no matter how she tried, she could not find that wooden house. Has he left? It makes sense.
For a mortal, ten years was a very long time.
He might have moved away a long time ago. Perhaps he had even gotten married somewhere out there.
At the thought of this, a sad look appeared on her face uncontrollably.
_If I can’t find him, what should I do? _Luo Ruying wondered.
“Really? Mommy, are you taking me to find Daddy?” The moment Luo Hongye heard that Luo Ruying was taking her to find her father, she was instantly delighted. She immediately moved closer to Luo Ruying and kept asking about it.
Seeing the child’s excitement, Luo Ruying could not bear to ruin it for her, so she smiled and agreed. “Uh-huh. We’re going to find your father!”
As for whether she could find Ning Yechen, she wasn't sure herself.
After Luo Hongye reveled in joy, a big question emerged in her tiny head. She leaned against her mother's back and tilted her head sideways. “Mommy, didn’t you say Daddy was dead by the time I was born?”
“Erm…” Luo Ruying was at a loss for words and did not know how to answer her.
As Luo Hongye grew older, she had often asked where her father was.
Luo Ruying had always lied that her father had died before she was born.
Now, she was suddenly saying they were looking for her father, so it undoubtedly seemed odd.
“Actually, your father isn’t dead!” Luo Ruying thought as hard as she could, but this was the only excuse she could come up with.
Luo Hongye blinked with her big, round, glistening eyes and genuinely believed Luo Ruying. She asked innocently, “Does this mean Daddy is still alive?”
“Uh-huh! That’s right!” Luo Ruying hurriedly nodded.
Just as she thought she had gotten away with it, Luo Hongye unexpectedly asked more. “Why didn’t he look for us then all this time? Does he not want us?”
Luo Hongye’s eyes turned red and became teary.
Luo Ruying was startled. She hurriedly carried Luo Hongye in her arms, patted her back, and coaxed her. “That’s not true, Yeye. Why wouldn’t he want you? He… he’s badly injured and hiding here to recuperate! We didn’t tell you about it so that you wouldn’t worry!”
This was already the best reason Luo Ruying could think of.
She certainly could not tell her daughter that her father did not know of her existence.
Luo Hongye completely believed Luo Ruying. She immediately stopped crying, and a worried look appeared on her face. “Then, is Daddy okay?”
“He’s fine, absolutely fine,” Luo Ruying answered with a smile.
At this moment, Luo Ruying hastily halted in her steps. A serious look appeared on her face as she studied the surroundings carefully.
She could detect the aura of a demon beast! Also, it seemed like a strong opponent!
When she came ten years ago, she did not detect the aura of relatively strong demon beasts.
Considering her current condition, she was unsure if she could handle it.
Luo Ruying held Luo Hongye in her arms with one hand tightly as her other hand went toward her heavenly sword, preparing for an attack.
A second later, the demon beast's scent suddenly disappeared as though it had run away.
_Why did the aura disappear? Did it get scared when it detected me? _Luo Ruying wondered.
Just as Luo Ruying was feeling puzzled, an exquisite wooden house suddenly appeared ahead not far away!
Things were strange!
She did not notice the wooden house there earlier. It seemed to have appeared out of nowhere!
Even though Luo Ruying was very puzzled, the moment she saw the wooden house in her memory, a happy smile appeared on her face. Found it! This is it!
