Chapter 36
Chapter 36: The Crow’s Bloodline Power
Blake followed the huge crow closely and whenever it decided to fly somewhere else, Blake would follow it around, keeping his eyes locked onto the crow, just in case the crow flew too fast and he lost its tracks.
Every time the crow slowed down or flew in circles, Blake quickly drew the modified darkness bullet runes with both his left and right hand and aimed the spell at the flying crow. And just like the first time Blake used it, the darkness bullet would always miss the crow’s body at first before they changed their trajectory and aimed straight to the mark on the crow’s back.
And each time the bullets hit their target, the crow would release another loud caw before speeding off again with its wings, flying to another place. Blake had tried to cast a second set of darkness bullets right after the first set, but the moment the crow decided to speed up, the darkness bullet wasn’t capable of matching up to the speed of the crow and just ended up disappearing right after failing to reach its target and the darkness element that was condensed inside it had diminished enough.
“Today is truly a full leg-day workout...” Blake muttered as he chased after the crow that had run away for the third time.
“Thank god...or the devil now that I am a demon? I listened to Vera’s explanation about the demon’s increasing physique even though they were demon mages. I could just barely keep that crow in my sight right now. If I didn’t put a single point into my physique, it would be impossible for me to keep track of the crow, let alone chase after it,” Blake said as he squinted his eyes and focused on a large dot flying in the sky not too far away from him.
Blake followed after the crow for another 5 minutes before the crow finally calmed down again and flew in circles some distance in front of him, and just like what he had done the past 15 minutes, Blake was already preparing to draw the darkness bullet runes again to damage the crow.
‘I wonder how long I need to keep this up... It’s starting to tire me after minutes of sprinting almost non-stop...’ Blake thought while taking deep breaths to catch his breath.
.....
‘If only I could also draw the runes with my feet, then it would definitely save me more time if I could attack the crow with 4 darkness bullets at the same time...’
‘Wait, can I do that...?’ Blake looked at his own feet and imagined himself drawing the demonic rune using his toes instead of his index finger. He could only imagine it for a few seconds as it look incredibly stupid in his imagination and he quickly stopped it before shaking his head vigorously and thought,
‘Ah, I will just test it later after I deal with this annoying bird.’
By the time Blake finished clearing his thoughts, so did he finished drawing the two sets of demonic runes and released two darkness bullets once again towards the crow.
Same as what had happened multiple times before, the crow wasn’t able to detect the darkness bullet and it was once again hit on its back. And after being hit five times with darkness bullets at approximately the same place, again and again, the small insignificant wound had turned to a sizable wound that could fit Blake’s whole fist halfway into the crow’s body.
Once Blake heard the crow’s caw of pain once again, he was prepared to chase after it once again and do another long sprint, but when he peeked his head to see where the crow had flown this time, he was startled when he saw the crow was still flying at the sky in front of him, and it was currently had its body faced in Blake’s direction.
Blake quickly woke up from his surprise and instantly thought of using this chance to launch another two dark bullets toward the crow. But before he was even able to start drawing the runes, Blake suddenly saw the crow’s wings start slightly glowing as unknown demonic runes started appearing on both surfaces of the wings.
Blake didn’t know what the crow would do, but he remembered that it looked quite similar when Robus was about to activate his dark earth armor.
However, although he knew that the crow was about to activate its bloodline power, Blake still couldn’t figure out what the crow’s bloodline power was because the runes were completely foreign to him and he didn’t even know what elements the crow had.
‘Will it be an offensive bloodline power? Or will it be a defensive one?’ Blake pondered as he saw the glow on the demonic runes on the crow’s wings start becoming brighter and brighter.
‘Whatever it’s gonna be, I need to prepare for it.’ Blake thought to himself before he activated the bloodline power that he got from Robus and the runes in the middle of his chest started glowing.
In just a few seconds, black rocks started forming all over Blake’s body and covered him from head to toe. And just like how Blake had finished activating his bloodline power, so does the crow in the sky above him.
While still facing his direction, the crow pulled back its wings that were glowing due to the demonic runes before it simultaneously pushed both of its wings to the front, straight at Blake’s direction.
Blake was prepared for any kind of offensive or defensive bloodline power from the crow, but he certainly didn’t expect a wind tornado, even bigger than the crow’s whole body would suddenly appear after the crow pushed both of its wings forward.
The wind tornado traveled straight forward, and with Blake being located on the ground in front of the crow’s body, the huge wind tornado was now currently making its way towards him at an incredible speed, only slightly slower than the crow itself when it flew at moderate speed.
However, the crow’s moderate speed was even faster than Blake when he was running at his full speed, which means that there was no way Blake would be able to completely dodge the wind tornado that was only tens of meters in front of him.
“Ah... Shit...” Blake unconsciously muttered.
Fortunately, his head still had enough blood flowing through it and he was kind of prepared for receiving an attack that he didn’t freeze when the wind tornado suddenly appeared and came towards him.
Both of his hands then started drawing two different runes respectively. The runes that he was drawing were really simple, with the same complexness of the spell that launched a single darkness tendril out of his hand. However, the runes that he was using didn’t belong to the darkness element runes.
Blake had purposely made the runes on his right hand finish faster, a split second before his left hand finished. And by the time the first runes flashed and disappeared, the ground beneath his feet suddenly descended, creating a hole that was able to take his whole body down into the ground.
And not stopping there, the second set of runes that were drawn with his left hand also finished and by the time Blake’s body had landed on the bottom of the hole, a horizontal earth wall appeared from the side of the hole and covered the opening of the hole, completely hiding Blake under the ground.
But before Blake was able to sigh in relief, the wind tornado that was aimed towards his direction had finally arrived as Blake could hear the trees above him crack as if the trunks had been forcefully ripped halfway by something and soon he heard the sound and felt the vibration of something heavy had fallen to the ground. And it’s not just once or twice as the chaotic sounds above him only stopped after about 7 whole seconds have passed.
And right after it all ended, Blake was completely unscathed as he was safe under the ground while the ground above him was completely trashed, with the 10-meter-tall trees being uprooted from their roots or their trunks being cut in half by the sharp wind blades that flew in circles inside the wind tornado.
Blake was still oblivious to how much damage the wind tornado had actually caused, but just from hearing the crack and booms a few seconds ago, he could release a deep breath and muttered,
“That was freaking close...”
