Chapter 245 - 245 Welcoming Preparation
245 Welcoming Preparation
Somewhere inside the humanoid base in the middle of the main continent of the first demon realm, which was also the place where the gate that led to the next realm stood, two demons, one scrawny and one muscular, were talking with each other. One of them sat on a throne while the other one stood not too far away from the throne.
From the standing of the two demons, the one who sat on the throne should be the stronger of the two. Yet currently, the muscular humanoid demon’s body was still covered with wounds, mostly burnt marks that spread all over his body.
“Tharrog, there’s a threat that we need to eradicate as soon as possible.” The muscular humanoid demon said while sitting back on his throne.
“Yes sir. Is it related to the sudden death of Radix and the wounds that you’ve received?” The scrawny demon asked, seemingly oblivious to any of the happenings that had fallen on them.
“You’re correct. And not only that, but they were also the ones that were responsible for Liche’s death and the destruction of two of our bases. We couldn’t let them run loose. They had already placed a huge setback on our plan, we couldn’t let them do more damage than this.”
Still having a thought in mind, the muscular humanoid demon continued. “And at the last second, before I saved myself from them, the undead horde of the cursed demon suddenly arrived. Knowing how powerful they were, they will most likely defeat the cursed demon and get access to all the souls that its undead horde had.”
“They will evolve soon. Which means sooner or later, they must come here.” When a demon had evolved, they would have the ingrained instinct to go to the center of the main continent so that they would be able to access the gate that led to the second demon realm.
And even if a demon could somehow ignore their instinct and decided to live in the first realm, they wouldn’t be able to do it for long since the nether quality in the first demon realm and the second demon realm was different.
If they forcefully stayed at the first demon, then their body would get weaker and deteriorate from their original strength despite having finished their evolution. And with demons that had an instinct from their birth to kill, eat souls, and get stronger, getting weaker again after gaining strength was something that they would never want to happen.
.....
So no matter what they do or what they want, the demons that had evolved would go to the gate to move to the second demon realm. And for that exact reason, the humanoid demons that came from the second realm built their sturdiest base and center of operation right around the gate.
Their mission was related to the demons in the first realm and their evolution to the next realm. They wanted to control it and that was exactly why they ‘protected’ the portal by making a base around it.
“Sir, if they were that strong, why don’t we ask them to join us? It wouldn’t go against our mission to do so. In fact, it would even help us.” The scrawny humanoid demon suggested.
Hearing the suggestion, the muscular humanoid demon stayed silent and began thinking about the possibility. “But they are very strong, we couldn’t just let them go loose.”
“Of course, sir. We will force them into a contract with us. They would be serving us instead of being on the same level as us. Any disobedience would be prohibited by the contract.”
Hearing the scrawny humanoid demon’s reasoning, the muscular humanoid demon couldn’t help but squint his eyes and said, “That would be the perfect case. But they are really strong and you couldn’t underestimate them. It wouldn’t be easy for us to force them into signing a contract. A subservient one at that.”
As if expecting such an answer from the muscular humanoid demon, the scrawny humanoid demon replied right away, “You don’t have to worry sir. With you as our main fighter and my prior preparations to welcome them here, we would not be defeated by them.”
“Do you even know their abilities?”
“No sir, but you seem to know them, I can overprepare our welcome for them based on your description of their abilities.”
After giving the scrawny humanoid demon’s suggestion, the muscular humanoid demon took a whole minute before finally deciding, “Alright then. I will agree with your suggestion.”
“And tell Aquila to come down from his base up there, we would also need her help to do this. We couldn’t underestimate these enemies at all.”
“Understood sir, I will call her here and begin my preparations right away.” The scrawny humanoid demon said before bowing his head and going out of the throne room.
With his earlier plan with the necromancer’s horde had gone awry, of course, this time, the scrawny humanoid demon would make sure that he got what he wanted using the pawns that were already available in the chessboard.
‘Eliminating a threat and seizing the throne? This will be quite busy work I need to do.’ The scrawny humanoid demon thought as he scurried away back to his lab to prepare his rune formations.
Back in the nether rich zone, one that was abundant in not only nether but also mainly the darkness element, Blake and his group had defeated several more demons, including more of the huge turtle that netted Vera more dark fruit trees.
Although they had already evolved, Vera still told the group to eat the remaining souls that were scattered around the area since the souls would still benefit them despite the souls belonging to the first demon realm.
To put it simply in the term that Blake could understand in an instant, the quality of souls from the second realm might have given him 15 souls worth of soul from one soul, which was way higher than the currently available souls in the first demon realm.
However, even the 5 souls worth of souls could still also help him to level up, albeit not as significant considering the number of souls that Blake needed rose from 100 hundred to 500 or even a thousand worth of souls.
And that would exactly be the case why Vera never had any interest in eating the souls in the first demon realm. Not only could it make the seal on her body unstable, but it would also be pointless for her considering the realm she was in and the number of times she had evolved.
If only after one evolution Blake needed 500 or 1000 souls, then Vera, who had evolved more than twice, would need 10 or 100 times the number of souls for her to even have a single level up. Eating 5 souls worth of souls wouldn’t mean anything to her.
Understanding this fairly easily, Blake urged the now grown up little sister and his best friend to eat the remaining souls that littered around the bodies of their dead enemies while they continued their journey forward.
And with Blake having already seen the place where he needed to go on the edge of his eyes before, it only took the group about 45 minutes to finally arrive at the place that Blake knew was his destination.
Even if Blake didn’t have the system guiding him on where he should go, Blake would certainly not miss it as the place where he needed to go was actually a large dome made out of the darkness element.
It looked very similar to the darkness elemental barrier that Blake had made to isolate the humanoid demons back in the first base, but it was very different in the terms of the density of the darkness element since the darkness elemental zone right in front of Blake’s eyes was completely dark, not a single light entering or escaping from it.
In fact, the dome was so dense that not only light couldn’t go in, even Robus, Cyra, and Vera couldn’t put their hands inside the darkness elemental dome.
And yes, only those three that couldn’t get past through the dome. When Blake tried putting his hand to touch the darkness dome, his hand had instead gone past through it as if it wasn’t even there in the first place.
“Did it only want me to go inside…?” Blake muttered out loud as he saw his hands being swallowed up by the dome.
It didn’t hurt him nor did it make him feel anything. He just simply pushed his hand forward and it went past the barrier.
‘Should I go alone…?’ Looking back at the group behind him, Blake thought hard about whether he should really proceed alone or not.
They had been together with him in almost every predicament that he went through. And it was often that they were the reason his plans could even go smoothly. Taking on a challenge on his own was definitely a new thing for him.
