Chapter 236 - 236 Venturing Inside (3)
236 Venturing Inside (3)
“I guess we’re worried for nothing…?” Blake muttered as he saw the dead turtle’s carcass. Its huge body that could easily crush him still looked intimidating even though it was unmoving, but the fact that it had its had buried into the ground and the soul orb of the creature had floated up to the ground above its head, almost all of the intimidating factor diminished, an emphatic feeling rose instead as Blake couldn’t imagine how it feels for the turtle to have been one-shotted by a gorilla a quarter of its own size.
“It did have a dangerous ability though,” Blake added as he recalled the dozens of darkness bullets barrage that came out of the turtle’s carapace.
“Anyways, good job team.” Blake gave a thumbs up to Robus, who had already grabbed the turtle’s soul in his huge hand and started walking back to the group.
Vera watched all this happening from above with amazement in her eyes. She had planned to also fight the turtle as it didn’t look like a weak demonic beast, but the newly evolved Robus seemed to have been more than enough to take the turtle down, and her help wasn’t needed at all.
However, what made Vera stare at the group in amazement was not because of how strong Robus had become. It was only normal that Robus would have that kind of strength fighting an unevolved creature when he had already evolved once and none of his power was sealed like hers.
What interested her was how good was the group’s teamwork. Blake’s leading capability seemed to have skyrocketed as he made important and almost instant decisions to deal with their predicament.
Blake even had given her the best move to do when the turtle released its darkness bullets barrage earlier. Focusing his defense on himself and Cyra since they were the ones with the weakest defensive capabilities while also giving an extra safety measure to Robus while knowing that she could save herself by flying away, Vera was truly astonished by Blake’s capability.
‘And the three of them had a tacit agreement about what they should do in a fight. They know each of their own roles. Too bad I couldn’t see properly how the three of them fight and defeat their opponent as a team.’
Vera then flapped her wings and hovered above the group, “Good job boys and girls,” she then put her attention forward, onto the carcass of the huge turtle, or more precisely, towards the black tree and fruit still standing firmly on the top of the turtle’s dome-shaped shell. “Now, let’s collect the tree and see whether we got a jackpot.”
.....
Vera then flew forward, beckoning the group to follow behind her before she landed directly in front of the black tree.
Now that she had observed it from up close, Vera was already at least 85% sure that the black fruits hanging under the tree branches were the same black fruits that were a rare commodity in the deeper realms.
The way the fruit was shaped, the dense nether that could be felt from far away and even more overwhelming up close, and the innate urge to consume the fruit, the last thing that Vera should do to determine the authenticity of the fruit was to actually consume the fruit herself to see what effects it had to her body.
But of course, no matter how small the chance was of the tree being a fraud and it was actually a poison to other demons, Vera didn’t want to take her chances to consume it right now, and instead decided to do some more tests on it later when she had created another lab after they had descended to the next realm.
“Robus, can you please help me uproot the tree from this turtle’s shell?” Vera asked politely as the group of three demons already made their way onto the base of the turtle’s body.
With a single nod from Blake, Robus quickly went into action as he casually jumped from below and arrived at the top of the turtle’s shell.
“Be careful of breaking the roots. Keep as many parts as possible intact.” She wanted to do tests on the tree to make sure she didn’t lose out on any benefits, moreover when the benefits included a tree that could produce multiple nether fruits at the same time, something that she hadn’t seen before in the deeper realms.
“r.” Robus then got to work as he grabbed the tree with both hands, covering about slightly less than 50% of the whole height of the trunk. His feet took a firm hold of the ground- or rather the carapace under him, before then he put his strength from his feet, back, and whole upper body to his hand and uprooted the tree from the middle of the carapace.
Different from the rather ‘soft’ skull of the turtle, the carapace was a way tougher beast that was harder to crack for Robus as he really need to put his whole back and whole body strength, added with a little wiggle on the tree to be able to finally free the tree from the middle of the carapace.
“rr?” Robus asked while still hugging the tree.
“Thanks a lot Robus, you could just put the tree down now.”
Vera then grabbed a few unknown things made out of metal from her dimensional pouch, putting three of those metals on the tree, giving them enough distance from each other as the three of them encompassed the whole tree. One metal construct sat on the root, one on the trunk, and the last one on the top of the trunk, on the base of the thick branches.
Vera then sent her nether to one of the metal constructs activating it, which then the other two also started activating on their own. Right after activating, the three metal constructs then shook, causing the tree that was countless times bigger than themselves to also shake before the three metal constructs, including the half-robus-sized tree suddenly disappeared from existence.
“What? Where did the tree go?” Blake asked as he saw the whole thing happening from below.
