Chapter 143
143 The First Prototype of The Rune Formation (1)
Upon hearing the thuds that came from 4 different directions, all 5 humanoid demons, including the leader that had almost had his hands on the bear’s soul, stopped whatever they were doing and they all went into hyper-focus mode.
And because of that, All five of them each looked in the direction of the thuds almost simultaneously, making them able to see the 4 head-sized wooden balls that had appeared out of nowhere.
The wooden balls looked inconspicuous enough as they even had a similar color to the tree trunks and roots that could be found all around the area.
However, the reason the group of humanoid demons was able to notice them so fast was because there were glowing demonic runes on the surface of the wooden balls that certainly caught everyone’s attention even if they didn’t try to actively search for the source of the noise that they heard.
And just like the other group of humanoid demons that usually hunted around the area to fight against weaker demonic beasts, the group of humanoid demons was also quite foreign with demon mages, demonic runes, and spells in general.
So when they saw the glowing demonic runes, they were much or less clueless as they had never seen those kinds of wooden balls filled with demonic runes before.
However, there was one thing that they all noticed as a threat. And that was when the nether in their surroundings began gathering around the wooden balls.
And the amount of nether that had been sucked by the wooden balls could be said to be anything but little.
And when all four of them felt that much nether started gathering, they all knew that it was bad news for them.
.....
So the humanoid demons began to use their feet to try and get as far away as possible from the wooden balls.
However, their reaction was already far too late as the nether that needed to manifest the spell contained inside the wooden balls had finished gathering and it was time for the spells to manifest themselves.
The group of humanoid demons tried to run away as fast as possible, even the leader of the group only snatched the boar’s soul out of the air and held it in his hands rather than swallowing it because they were really in a hurry.
However, before their feet were even able to move more than a couple of steps, the glow on the wooden balls turned to a flash before the ground around them began to tremble.
And just a split second after the tremble happened, dark earth constructs began to rise up from the ground all around the humanoid demons’ group.
The dark earth constructs all appeared from every direction around them, essentially circling them inside the dark earth constructs that didn’t stop rising up even though there were trees in their way.
Pushing off the roots and breaking apart tree trunks that stood in their way, the earth constructs continued growing until they made a dark earth dome that completely sealed off the humanoid demons from the outside world, containing them inside the dome that was absent of any kind of light.
But before the dark earth dome closed off completely, a man-sized figure jumped on top of the dome that was still rising and jumped inside the earth dome, coming in together with the 5 humanoid demons.
All five humanoid demons saw a blur of a figure come in from the top of the dome since it was the only source of light left before in the next moment, their world turned to complete darkness as the dark earth dome blocked off the red sun’s light and also anything from going inside or outside of the earth dome.
Including any kind of sounds.
With all the humanoid demons seeing the silhouette entering the earth dome at the last second, they were all aware that there was an unknown entity amongst them.
However, without any kind of light to see, they were essentially blind. They didn’t even know where they were and where their companions were located, how could they know where the blurred figure was in the absolute darkness that enveloped them?
However, they suddenly heard an unknown voice from right in the middle of them.
“My race is called a darkness demon, but I can’t see in the dark? That’s not fair.”
With the five humanoid demons suddenly hearing the voice that they all didn’t recognize, they were also able to determine the location of the unknown entity that had joined them.
However, before any of them was able to make any kind of moves to swing their weapon or fist, all five of them suddenly felt a dense wave of nether washed over their body and something seemed to have latched itself onto their bodies.
The weird and new sensation that they felt made them all freeze in their spot as they tried to figure out what had happened to them.
But without their sense of sight working with the complete darkness around them, they couldn’t figure out what had happened after the sudden wave of nether washed over them.
Fortunately for the five humanoid demons, they didn’t have to think about the weird sensation that they had just felt as they would soon feel another kind of sensation that didn’t need to be studied to know what kind of sensation it was.
Just right after the first wave of nether washed over them, the five humanoid demons felt an abundant amount of nether gathering around them once again, but this time, they didn’t feel a wave of dense nether hitting their bodies.
Instead, what they felt was a very familiar sensation that all creatures had felt at least once in their life.
And that was none other than pain.
From all kinds of directions around them, all five humanoid demons suddenly had their bodies stabbed with an unknown material that could only be described as sharp and sturdy.
Screams of pain started to resound inside the dark earth dome as almost every inch of the humanoid demons’ bodies was filled with darkness spikes that lodged themselves inside their bodies.
However, with the dark earth dome closing off the area and preventing anything from going in or out of it, the screams only stayed inside the dark earth dome, and some of it even being absorbed by the darkness element imbued into the earth constructs, damping the noise inside and saving the unknown entity’s ears from hurting too much from all the screams happening besides him.
“Wait, how do I know if they’re all already dead if I can’t see them?” The unknown figure that had caused all of this muttered once again amidst the screams that resounded all around him.
