Debuff Master

Chapter 644

Chapter 644

“Whoa... You can do that with a handgun...?” Siegfried muttered in amazement.

“There are numerous ways to hold a gun. Keeping it close to your body is the most basic yet effective way to hold it. Like this; hold it at a forty-five-degree angle while keeping it close to your body.”

“Oh!”

“Guns aren’t that strong in this game, so techniques like this aren’t that known.”

Han Sang-Gi was right. The Nurburg Continent was dominated by sword and magic due to mana being the cornerstone of most combat abilities. Firearms were highly inefficient weapons, as they were too mana hungry.

Thus, it was only normal for skills and techniques related to firearms to not be as developed as swordsmanship or magic.

“Actually, these techniques can be used in real life, too.”

“Oh?”

“It was difficult to recreate these kinds of realistic movements during the era of PC games, but that’s no longer the case in this age of virtual reality games. People are flying to other countries such as the United States just to learn about combat tactics to get ahead of their competitors.”

Oh!

“Anyway, since I’ve already shown you an example, would you like to give it a try?”

“Yes!”

Siegfried immediately transformed his +13 Vanquisher’s Grasp into a revolver and stood in front of Bruce.

The revolver was not loaded with real bullets.

Why?

It was all because bullets were expensive!

Instead, Siegfried used the practice bullets for his sparring match against Bruce.

Tak!

Bruce rushed at Siegfried, but he kicked the training dummy’s shoulder and pulled the trigger twice.

Bang! Bang!

Two bullets struck Bruce in his abdomen...

Bang!

And one bullet struck Bruce's head...

Siegfried perfectly recreated the technique Han Sang-Gi showed him.

“Whoa...? H-He copied it after seeing it just once...?” Han Sang-Gi muttered in shock.

“This is really handy,” Siegfried said while grinning ear to ear, completely oblivious to Han Sang-Gi's disbelief. Then, he flashed a confident smirk and said, “Hey, Bruce. Let’s go at it again.”

“My name is Bruce—Bruce Wood!”

Siegfried sparred with Bruce numerous times and tried different variations of the technique he had learned just now. He used both striking techniques and grappling techniques along with the gun.

Siegfried had no issues performing such maneuvers whatsoever, as Leonid had taught him personally.

Oh my god! How is he learning so fast?!’ Han Sang-Gi was at a loss for words. Siegfried's speed of learning was so fast that it was simply unbelievable. Who could have known that it was possible for someone to not only perfectly copy a technique after seeing it once but create different variations of it on their own as well?

“Wow! This technique is really useful! It will definitely catch my opponent off guard!”

“Y-Yeah, that's going to happen.”

“This is so amazing!”

Haha... Hahaha...”

“Please teach me more!”

“S-Sure thing,” Han Sang-Gi replied, sweating profusely at Siegfried’s monstrous learning speed.

I’ll run out of things to teach in the blink of an eye at this rate! No, wait. He's a melee fighter, so he might just be good at close-quarter combat, which is why he easily learned my pistol technique.

'My marksmanship techniques won’t be that easy to learn.’ Han Sang-Gi held great pride in his marksmanship techniques, so he was only worried for a few seconds. He found his confidence in an instant upon recalling his difficult techniques.

In addition, marksmanship couldn't be learned so easily, so he didn't have to worry about running out of things to teach.

Ahem!" Han Sang-Gi cleared his throat and asked, "Shall we proceed with the real training?”

“Yes! sunbae-nim!” Siegfried responded enthusiastically, elated at the thought of learning more techniques from the Legend.

***

Siegfried and Han Sang-Gi moved to a mountain behind the capital.

“Let’s see...”

The Battle Homeground Legend took out all sorts of firearms and bows from his Inventory.

“Hmm? What is that, sunbae-nim?”

“What happens if you know your enemy and yourself?”

“You need not fear the results of a hundred battles?”

“Exactly. And that is why you must know how each ranged weapon works before learning about marksmanship."

Oh...” Siegfried muttered in response. Then, he contemplated for a few seconds before asking, “That is because each weapon has a different sound, range, and projectile?”

“P-Precisely!”

“So I must shoot each weapon and memorize the sound they make, as that will allow me to know where the enemy sniper is?”

“T-That’s correct!”

“Then, I will memorize them.”

“Y-You will?”

“I will try my best, sunbae-nim!”

Siegfried spent his time memorizing the sound, trajectory, and projectile of the various ranged weapons that BNW had to offer.

Three hours later...

“Oh my god...” Han Sang-Gi gasped in disbelief.

Siegfried told him that he had already memorized all of them, so he proceeded to test him.

Han Sang-Gi was stupefied by the result of the test.

Why?

It was all because Siegfried hadn't lied. He had indeed perfectly memorized each and every ranged weapon in that short period of time!

Wow! I don’t think I’ll lose to most ranged attackers from now on! I’d find them in a heartbeat, even if they shoot me from afar!”

“Y-Yeah, I think so too...”

“Will you teach me about marksmanship now, sunbae-nim?”

“S-Sure...”

Han Sang-Gi became nervous upon realizing how Siegfried was like a sponge that absorbed every knowledge he imparted to the latter. He was nervous, as there was a possibility that Siegfried would easily learn his marksmanship techniques, too.

However, that wasn't the case this time.

“You can use what you learned from your time in the military[1] for shooting, but that’s not the case for sniping.”

“Oh?”

“The flight of your bullet will change depending on the wind direction, wind speed, humidity, altitude difference, temperature, and other environmental factors.”

“R-Really?”

Siegfried was the one flustered this time, as he did not expect sniping to be so complicated that he had to take into consideration things such as the climate or environment.

Hmm? You didn’t know? Did you sleep during physics class?” Han Sang-Gi asked.

“I-I was never good with science, so... Haha,” Siegfried replied, laughing awkwardly and scratching the back of his head.

Hmm... Then, this might be too difficult for you.”

“I will still do my best!”

“Good! That’s what I want to see!”

Truth be told, Han Sang-Gi should not be happy about this, but he could not help but let out a sigh of relief and be elated after realizing that Siegfried would be struggling on this one.

Yes! This is how it should be! I know he has the talent for this game, but I can’t run out of things to teach him this quickly! I have my pride, too! Keke!’ Han Sang-Gi thought.

Actually, he was scared that Siegfried would surpass him—a legend—in just a single day.

“You can use the details displayed on your game interface for direction and temperature instead of relying on equipment.”

“Yes, sunbae-nim!”

“But you will still have to shoot in different environments to get a hang of things.”

“I understand!”

“Then, shall we start?”

“Yes, sir!”

Siegfried was not that confident this time, but he decided to do his best until he reached a certain level of marksmanship.

Why?

It was all because his most powerful weapon was his stubborn grit.

***

Siegfried trained hard under Han Sang-Gi while working on the administrative affairs of the Proatine Kingdom at the same time.

He had nothing else to do until the location of the final soul fragment was found, so he decided to invest his time in laying the groundwork for his kingdom’s future.

“Hey, Tae-Sung. Can I tell you something?”

The Space Craft Legend, Kim Gi-Tae, came to Siegfried, seemingly having something to say.

“Hello, sunbae-nim! Please feel free!”

“I saw your Espadrille Province redevelopment plan by coincidence...” Kim Gi-Tae said carefully. Then, he pointed at the map on Siegfried’s table and said, “But I think the location of this fortress and military facilities isn’t that good.”

Huh?

“It’s good for defense, but troop logistics will be a challenge. I’d suggest moving the fortress here and moving this here so that...”

“Oh?”

Siegfried suddenly remembered one crucial thing upon listening to Kim Gi-Tae’s suggestions.

Sim City[2].

This was a famous term used in RTS or Real Time Strategy games where the location of buildings would make it difficult for the enemies to attack while the player’s troops could move easily in their base.

Sim City didn't seem that important at first glance, but it was far more important than any strategy or tactics in increasing the efficiency of one’s army. This was especially true for RTS games like Space Craft, which Kim Gi-Tae was a renowned legend of.

“Are you referring to Sim City?” Siegfried asked.

“Exactly,” Kim Gi-Tae replied with a smile. Then, he added, “I apologize to whoever made this city planning, but I’d suggest taking my advice for the placements of these buildings.”

“Certainly!” Siegfried replied enthusiastically and immediately called for the Minister of Development, Viscount Minaudiere.

“I, Minaudiere, greet His Majesty the King.”

“Welcome, Viscount Minaudiere.”

“Does Your Majesty require anything from me?”

“So that is...” Siegfried explained Kim Gi-Tae’s input on the placement of buildings.

Hmm... Please give me a moment,” Minaudiere replied, reviewing the building placements.

He seemed offended that the plans he made were under scrutiny, but he decided to review the building placements to see if the suggestions were valid or not.

Five minutes later...

“Oh!” Viscount Minaudiere exclaimed in awe. Then, he said, “He is right, Your Majesty! This is the right placement for the buildings!”

“Really?”

“Yes, Your Majesty! Especially the placements of the resource buildings and barracks perfectly complement our soldiers’ movement to the fortress! I can confidently say there will be no better building placement than this!”

“As expected, you are truly amazing, sunbae-nim,” Siegfried said, looking at Kim Gi-Tae.

Haha! This is nothing!”

“This here is our kingdom’s Minister of Development, Viscount Minaudiere. Would you like to have a chat with him?”

“Sounds good to me,” Kim Gi-Tae replied with a shrug. Then, he turned to the viscount and held out his hand, “Hello, my name is Kim Gi-Tae.”

“Hello, my name is Minaudiere,” Viscount Minaudiere replied, shaking Kim Gi-Tae’s hand. Then, he smiled and added, “I am deeply impressed by the revisions you have suggested.”

Haha! Thank you for your kind words.”

“How did you come up with such an ingenious plan?”

“So that is...”

After their short exchange of pleasantries, Kim Gi-Tae and Viscount Minaudiere proceeded to chat and debate for a while.

“Wow...” Siegfried muttered in amazement at how quickly the two got along. He knew that the kingdom’s city planning would be in safe hands if those two got along and synergized with each other, so he left the room with a light heart.

As expected, there’s a reason they’re considered legends and respected by others.’

Siegfried managed to confirm once again that he had done the right thing by accommodating the old men.

***

Two days later...

Concentrate. Hold your breath. Stabilize your heart rate. Minimize muscle movements.’

Siegfried was on the ground on a hill aiming at a goblin around one kilometer away.

Kyu! Owner punk!”

Hamchi was standing next to him with a beret on his head. He was observing the goblin with a pair of binoculars. He had taken on the role of a spotter for Siegfried.

“Humidity and temperature... they look fine. Wind direction is southwest, but it’s too weak to make a big difference. Kyu!”

“Really? Roger that.”

Siegfried focused all of his senses on his target through the scope.

Wooong...!

His senses increased the efficiency of his scope, giving him a much clearer view of his target—a distant goblin.

Three, two, one...’ Siegfried pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The sound of gunfire reverberated in the air.

Puuuk!

The head of the goblin one kilometer away exploded like a watermelon.

It took him just one week. Siegfried successfully sniped down a target one kilometer away after just one week since he started his training.

Of course, this was only possible due to Siegfried's excellent stats; his keen eyes allowed him to spot things much farther than others.

“Yahoo!” Siegfried exclaimed and jumped for joy.

Kyu! Nice shot, owner punk!”

“Great work, Hamchi.”

Siegfried and Hamchi celebrated hitting a target one kilometer away for the first time.

As for Han Sang-Gi...

“I-Impossibru...!”

He couldn't believe that Siegfried had just hit that target.

Han Sang-Gi couldn't have imagined, even in his wildest dreams, that Siegfried would not only master his melee pistol technique in just thirty minutes but his extremely difficult long-range sniping technique as well, in just one week to boot!
