Chapter 548
Chapter 548
The bullet shattered the window glass and struck Siegfried right in the nape.
Bam!
The sheer force carried by the bullet made his face slam on the tile just above the urinal he was urinating on. The attack was so strong that he felt he was smacked by a blunt object at the back of his head.
“Kuheok!” Siegfried winced from the agony of having his nose smashed, but he hurriedly jumped right under the window to protect himself from any additional bullets.
His expectation was right on the money, as bullets riddled the wall where the urinal was located.
Pshwoong! Pshwoong! Pshwoong!
Ting! Ting! Ting!
“Argh!” Siegfried groaned while rubbing the spot where the bullet had struck him.
Badump! Badump! Badump!
He could feel the back of his head pulsating, and there was a bump on it, too.
But that was not all...
Plop...!
His nose seemed to have fractured as well, judging by the blood dripping from his nose.
“Nosebleed...? Those bastards...!”
However, what really enraged Siegfried was the fact that he had almost pissed his pants. It was fortunate he was done urinating when the bullet had struck him. If he had been hit while urinating, he would have soiled his pants, making it a memory he would want to forget.
“Which bastard dares to—” Siegfried growled, but such luxury was not afforded to him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The shooter started shooting at the wall right under the window.
“Whoa?!” Siegfried gasped in horror when a bullet pierced through the wall and zipped past his waist.
Tak!
He jumped and rolled to another side of the wall. Then, he calculated the trajectory of the bullet and made a rough estimate of where the shooter was most likely located.
“You’re fucking dead, bastard,” he swore under his breath while gnashing his teeth.
***
A man on the spire across from the bathroom Siegfried was using could not believe his eyes.
“H-He didn’t die from that?”
The man was a Level 250 Adventurer named Shotpull.
Shotpull specialized in long-range assassination using his ultimate skill, Final Sniping. He initially thought his target had died from his bullet, but the target suddenly rolled on the ground and hid without leaving even a droplet of blood on the ground.
“What’s up with his insane defense? I know there’s a huge distance between us, but still...?” Shotpull grumbled in disbelief.
The distance between the spire and the bathroom was about two hundred meters, which was quite a difficult distance to cross using ordinary sniper rifles.
However, the gun Shotpull was using was a Mosin-Nagant with a whopping twelve levels of enhancement. The +12 Penetration Mosin-Nagant specialized in long-range sniping and rarely failed him when he sniped his targets.
On top of that, the penetration option attached to the Mosin-Nagant made the bullet penetrate the heads of the target, which guaranteed a kill upon contact.
But who would have imagined there existed a person who could withstand such an assassination attempt with his bare skin...?
Siegfried’s defense had reached insane levels, thanks to the new enhancements on his gear.
“Let’s find out how many rounds you can withstand,” Shotpull growled before pulling the trigger several times.
The bullets shot from the +12 Penetration Mosin-Nagant carried enough force to pierce through the wall. Unfortunately, despite the impressive firepower his weapon showed off, he was unable to hit his target, which he assumed was hiding behind the wall.
“You can run, but you can’t hide,” Shotpull muttered as he aimed his weapon. He could not tell whether his target was lucky or what, but he missed yet again, and the target managed to scurry to the other side of the wall.
“Tsk...” Shotpull clicked his tongue. He got up and started moving, as he needed to run away after failing to assassinate his target.
‘I will have another chance later. I just have to patiently wait and—’
It was then.
Whiiiiish!
A black hammer flew at ferocious speeds and struck Shotpull.
“Ah!”
He crashed into the ground, unable to withstand the impact.
[Shotpull]
[HP: ??????????]
He lost half of his HP in a single hit.
“A-Argh...! What kind of damage is—Hiiiik!” Shotpull shrieked once after seeing the damage dealt to him and shrieked a second time after seeing a ghost.
Seuk...
The ghost was none other than Siegfried, who was hanging on the ledge of the spire, and was staring right at him.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” Siegfried said. Then, he crawled up the ledge and said, “You could’ve run away after the first shot.”
He was right. Shotpull could have escaped without any problems if he had run away after the first shot. However, the sheer allure of the bounty blinded Shopull, and he became trigger-happy in hopes of killing his target.
The rapid fire from the rifle gave away his location, allowing Siegfried to spot him, which eventually led to the current situation.
“I-I thought I was going to have a heart—” Shotpull muttered while grabbing his chest.
“Shut the fuck up,” Siegfried interrupted him and threw a punch at his face.
Pukeok!
“Kuheok!”
“Also, can’t you assassinate me when I’m doing something else? Why the hell would you shoot when I’m trying to take a piss?” Siegfried grumbled. Then, he touched the back of his head and growled, “Now I have a bump because of you...”
“Argh...”
“What the hell? Isn’t that our uniform?”
Siegfried grimaced after noticing that Shotpull was wearing the coalition forces' uniform. He checked with his Rune of Insight just to make sure, and it showed that Shotpull was indeed one of the Adventurers recruited by the coalition forces.
‘So some of our allies want the bounty too?’ Siegfried thought.
It was then...
“Die!” Shotpull exclaimed, pulling the trigger of his +12 Penetration Mosin-Nagant.
Bang!
The rifle spat fire, but it failed to hit Siegfried.
He took a sidestep to avoid the incoming bullet and grabbed Shotpull by his neck.
“You’re dead whenever you come across me. Got that?” Siegfried said before tightening his grip.
C-Crack...!
A spine-chilling sound reverberated before Shotpull’s head turned at a grotesque angle.
Whoosh!
Siegfried threw Shotpull’s lifeless corpse down the spire.
“Kyaaak! Kyaaaaak!”
Then, the apparition appeared and picked up all of the items that Shotpull had dropped at the foot of the spire.
[Alert: You have obtained +12 Penetration Mosin-Nagant!]
[Alert: You have obtained Tactical Leather Suit!]
[Alert: You have obtained Sharpshooter’s Goggles!]
[Alert: You have obtained +11 Ring of Haste!]
[Alert: You have obtained Noblewoman’s Secret Eye Mask!]
Shotpull ended up becoming a victim to Siegfried’s King God General Supernatural Three-Legged Crow title and dropped a number of expensive items, including his main weapon.
“Tsk... I’m happy with the drop, but it doesn’t feel that good...” Siegfried clicked his tongue and went down the spire while rubbing the bump at the back of his head.
***
Siegfried descended from the spire and went to the drilling ground to join the others preparing for battle.
“Hyung-nim!” Seung-Gu shouted and rushed over.
“Yeah?”
“Are you alright? What’s that bump at the back of your head?” he asked, pointing at the big lump.
“Ah, this one...” Siegfried proceeded to explain what happened.
“What?! An ally Adventurer tried to assassinate you?!”
“Yeah. I was hit hard right here,” Siegfried replied, pointing at the back of his head.
“Whoa...”
“But what’s that?” Siegfried asked. He noticed Seung-Gu was holding a piece of parchment.
“Ah, I wanted to show you this. It appears to be a wanted poster of you.”
“Huh?”
“Take a look.”
Siegfried looked at the wanted poster Seung-Gu brought.
Exactly one second later.
Kwachik!
A vein bulged on his forehead.
“T-This is me?! Impossible!” Siegfried raged.
The person drawn on the wanted poster looked so despicable that anyone passing by would feel like punching the picture at least once.
“Why the hell did you draw me like this?!”
“I-I wasn’t the one who drew that...”
“Damn it!”
“Hahaha...”
“Those bastards are all dead.”
Siegfried ripped the wanted poster, which depicted him quite accurately, to shreds and gnashed his teeth in fury at the Immortal Kingdom.
“I’m going to destroy them! This isn’t about the quest anymore!”
“C-Calm down, hyung-nim.”
“I won’t forgive them!”
Huff! Huff!
Siegfried was so mad that he blew air out of his nostrils like a raging bull.
***
The battle that day ended in the victory of the coalition forces once again, and it went without saying that Siegfried racked up the most achievements. It was inevitable for them to keep winning, as their supreme commander, Siegfried, made sure to only fight battles he knew they'd win.
Of course, this was not something they could keep doing forever, and they would eventually be forced to clash head-on against the undead army someday. But that day was not today.
When the battle was reaching its later stages...
“Don’t let up! Keep the pressure on!” Siegfried shouted while running around on the frontlines with Irradiate activated, melting every enemy Adventurer around him.
“C-Crazy!”
“Don’t come near me! Go away!”
“Does this make sense?! He’s hacking!”
The Adventurers ran away from Siegfried as if he was bringing a plague upon them. There were rumors swirling around that anyone who died at his hands would drop more than one item, and this struck fear into the hearts of the Adventurers.
If there was one thing the Adventurers feared the most then that was losing their hard-earned items. Their items were equivalent to their lives, and Siegfried was no different from the Grim Reaper, who was coming to take their lives away.
Who would want to fight against the Grim Reaper when they stood to lose their precious items? Yes, there was a massive one hundred thousand gold bounty on Siegfried's head, but that was not enough to motivate the Adventurers to fight against him.
‘Just a little bit further...’ Siegfried charged forward, sweeping every Adventurer in his way with Irradiate.
It was then...
Puuuk!
An arrow flew from somewhere and struck his left shoulder.
“Ah!” Siegfried winced and staggered.
‘What was that? Where did it come from?’
He was about to turn and find the shooter but was unable to do so.
Pshwoong!
Another arrow flew at him.
“Damn it!” Siegfried jumped to the side to evade the arrow. Then, he stole a glance to check who was shooting at him.
‘What?! An ally?!’
Shockingly, the Adventurer shooting at him was wearing the uniform of the coalition forces. He was standing right at the edge of Irradiate and was aiming his bow at Siegfried.
However, that was not the only problem.
“No hard feelings! This is just business!”
Another Adventurer suddenly appeared. He tore an Anti-Poison Scroll, which explosively increased one’s Poison Resistance, and charged at Siegfried.
He swung a massive sword at Siegfried’s neck, attempting to decapitate Siegfried in a single blow.
However, he could not cut Siegfried’s head off.
“Don’t touch my rice bowl! He’s mine!" another Adventurer roared and appeared, skewering the sword-wielding Adventurer’s head with a spear.
