Chapter 25: Little Boss

Fred coughed and gestured to one of the four men in the corners to move closer and clean up the fat man's face.

The fat man was still reeling from the shock when the drenched towel was removed from his face. Then, he scurried to his feet and gave Hiro a fat thumbs up.

"Brat! You're really bold! Haha, come, come! Have a drink with this uncle!"

Fred hurriedly stepped in between the two of them, kneading his forehead before he sighed deeply. "Not now, Big Cheese. We need to clean up this mess first."

Then, his cold gaze swept the six students who were clinging to the wall.

"Goes without saying, you didn't see anything or hear anything, right? You don't want to wake up one day to find yourselves upside down, right?"

His tone was frigid cold, a clear threat to the six eyewitnesses. In all honesty, Fred had not expected Hiro to switch off the safety before shooting the gun.

Little did he know that Hiro considered the safety button to be a hidden test, thinking that it would have been embarrassing were he to pull the trigger with the safety button on.

Since it had come to this, Fred couldn't brush it off as negligence on his end. No one in this world can revive the dead.

"N-nothing! We saw nothing!"

No kidding, they wouldn't dare open their mouths to speak of what happened no matter what.

Fred wasn't worried. Even if they went about blabbing their mouths, it wouldn't cause too much trouble.

He nodded and said, "Only the six of you and Broski will be aware of Hiro's identity in the future. On the surface, you six will handle the delinquents in the freshmen year; these are Broski's instructions."

"We understand!"

The six echoed their consent without a fuss.

Satisfied with their attitude, Fred took out his phone and looked back at Hiro. "I'll send your contact information to Broski right now, and you should expect someone to add you on the messenger app before inviting you to a group chat later."

Hiro was about to respond when he heard the soft bell chime in his head, followed by the projection of the blue pop-up window.

[Mission Progress: 33%]

[Reward 1: Skill Voucher x1]

This is new… Hiro thought to himself in surprise. Previously, the system didn't give him rewards for partially completing the missions, did it?

Another blue pop-up window appeared.

[Notice: The system improved a new feature based on the previous daily mission, "Grinding."]

In other words, the system is also improving based on customer feedback? Hiro was both enlightened and joyous.

Fred frowned and spoke again, "I don't have much time to entertain you. Give me your contact information."

Why is this kid spacing out at a time like this? Fred was both confused and impatient.

"Oh, right…" Hiro quickly focused and brought out his phone, sending his contact information to Fred.

"Can I leave now?" Hiro asked after the exchange, not wanting to waste his gaming time on ceremonial niceties.

Fred looked deeply into Hiro's eyes, as though searching the young man's soul to check whether he was truly nonplussed by killing someone or was he just putting on an act.

Eventually, he didn't manage to see anything.

With a sigh, he waved his hand and sent Hiro out, feeling exhausted.

Hiro gladly complied and left the room, and as he was ascending the stairs, he heard the notifications from his phone.

Checking the situation, he saw "Mr. Monocle" kicking a bunch of people from the Real Manhood Challenge group chat, he then promoted six people to become the official administrators of the group.

[Mr. Monocle]: The six people I promoted to admin are responsible for running the business among the freshmen year students. From now on, expand carefully, and don't cause me too much trouble. I'm muting this shit.

From the 70+ members in the group, only about 29 people were left, Hiro included.

Hiro then received a friend request from Mr. Monocle, and he swiftly accepted the request.

Then, he was invited into another group chat called the "Den of Syndicates", but it had about 12 members including himself.

[Mr. Monocle]: You have a one-time chance to change your nickname in the group, so do it while you still can. This will be your nickname in our circle.

Hiro noticed that everyone was putting on a nickname, and there was only one admin in the group, while the owner's nickname was Broski.

Hiro didn't waste time and changed his nickname to "Little Boss", omitting his real username.

[Mr. Monocle]: You really like to play big, calling yourself the Little Boss from the get-go.

[Little Boss]: It's nothing, it's nothing.

Hiro quickly changed his nickname in the Real Manhood Challenge as well.

Then, he noticed that while his latest message to the Den of Syndicates was read, no one bothered responding.

Although it was a little awkward, he didn't care.

Since his business in the A-club could be considered to have been finished, he hurriedly left the club and flagged a taxi back to the school's dormitory.

On the way, he checked his skill voucher, realizing that it was limited to unlocking skills excluded from the upgrade series.

For example, he could have used it to unlock {Business Acumen I} but he can't use it to upgrade to {Business Acumen II}.

If Hiro knew this was coming, he wouldn't have spent the 800 AP on {Professional Soccer Skills} earlier today.

While feeling sour about it, it was around 23:00 O'clock when Hiro entered the dormitory.

Silently and carefully, he navigated toward the lower bunker bed to the right after closing the door.

After hoping that he hadn't disturbed anyone's sleep, he removed his jacket and without switching into his pajamas, Hiro closed his eyes to sleep while simultaneously entering the system space.

In the simulation space, Legend of Babylon.

Hiro spawned inside the church of a random town within the army's camp.

After equipping his level 40+ gear which consisted of leather clothing, a necklace, a tall pointed hat, and a sorcerer's staff, he left the dilapidated church building.

"Respected High Sorcerer!"

Someone rushed over on a horse. The steed was panting heavily, thick foam dripping from its mouth, its backside marred with harsh lashes and stab wounds, blood seeping through.

The moment it felt the weight on its back removed, the horse collapsed to the ground as it quivered in agony. Then, it went still.

The rider didn't care one bit; his metallic armor clanked about as he removed his helmet and rushed to one knee.

In the Legend of Babylon, Hiro went from a Seeker to a Mage, then a Sorcerer, and eventually a High Sorcerer at level 42.

If he wanted to advance further, he needed to reach level 49 and undergo the job advancement quest that would promote him to a level 50 Wizard.

He was waiting for the chain quest that would lead him to the next main quest at level 49, and it seems like his patience was rewarded today.

Looking down at the man who was nearly anxious to death, Hiro said, "At ease, brave soul. Speak, what's the matter?"

Hiro waved his hand to conjure some water and wind elements from the ambiance to rinse the soldier and give him some fresh air.

The man enjoyed the cold breeze and scooped up the water from the air, drinking one mouthful after another, slowly calming down before he looked up at Hiro with worship in his eyes.

"The frontlines are in great danger, and they require your assistance to buy time until the reinforcements arrive! Three High Sorcerers from the Underworld managed to sneak past our defenses, and they're rushing to a critical battle point as we speak!"

Hiro's eyes flickered. "Is this military intelligence reliable?"
