Chapter 22 - 22 - House Hunting
The next day Zou Yue left his house without informing anyone of the direction he was more than familiar with, to the place where the human settlement will be located in the future.
He boarded a cab and hurried in the direction. The place was different from he had expected. It was on the outskirts of the town and had less population than cities.
Most of the residents are villagers and farmers. There was also a huge clothing company in the middle of the village.
"New to this place?" the cab driver glanced back with a smile.
"No. This is home...." he smirked with a nostalgic look in his eyes.
Looking at his spectacular appearance, the driver slightly blushed. "I know everyone in this town. I haven't seen you here, so that's why..."
"Oh, it's okay. I'm planning on moving here with my family. My father is retiring and we want to move to a place with less pollution," he happily said to him.
"Oh really. I can suggest to you some places. My brother-in-law is a real estate agent; if you want I can connect you with him...."
Zou Yue silently took a minute to think over.
"I'm not forcing you or anything."
"No, no uncle. I would love to meet your relative. In fact, I have been thinking about choosing real estate agency for a long time now. Thank you for suggesting one," he said with a small smile.
"No thanks needed, kid, and I'm not an uncle. I'm just thirty you see." the driver glanced back with a wide smirk.
The driver directly drove him over to his brother-in-law's agency.
The agent was a kind middle age man who welcomed him happily. After checking his budgets, he requested him to follow him to the sights. Their cab driver also decided to drive them over to the sight for convenience.
The first house they visited was an apartment complex.
"This house is very close to the nearby city. So many people prefer this area because it has many shops nearby," the agent said. He opened the door.
The house was a 2 bed room and kitchen apartment. Apt for bachelors and newly married couple but for his family of three it was too small and his mother preferred bigger kitchens.
Even so, he listened to everything the agent was explaining. He looked out the window. This place was too crowded, with an apartment complex every ten feet.
"Uncle, this is not what I'm looking for... can we look at something else?"
"Oh, I thought you might like it," the kind agent whispered doubtfully.
"No, it's because this place is in the ten floors, no elevator available. My father has back problems, so it is not a right fit for us. I am looking for a remote, independent house, maybe with a small yard,"
The cab driver whispered something to his brother-in-law.
"Ah, how can I forget? There is that place too. Young lad, I have exactly what you are looking for."
They left to the next sight. It was quite interior of the town and it was in a remote location. There was a lorry blocking the road, so the cab stopped in front of a small intersection road.
"This place is nearby is it okay if we walk?"
"Yeah sure,"
Walking for five minutes, they reached a small house. It looked a little old. The paint was chipping off.
"It's like this on the outside but its better on the inside," the agent anxiously whispered to him. But the young lad was looking at something else intently. "Oh, I forgot to mention the army camp is nearby so the resident in the area are mostly veteran soldiers. There is no problem with any theft or any security issues there." the man happily boasted to him.
Zou Yue smirked slightly. "Army camp, that's nice.... shall we have a look inside?,"
Unexpectedly, the inside was much better than the exterior. It was a long rectangular house with three rooms in total and a huge kitchen. The windows and doors all had security railing and a Teflon glass window. The house itself was shaped in a way that it covered a huge rectangular area with the garden and a pond is the centre. There was a small moss covered pond in the middle with few carps swimming around.
"This house was built back in the sixties and the couple who built there was mixed race so they combined both cultures when they built this place."
The agent moved to the right and showed him a small brown patch.
"The lake area has a small flower patch beside it. But the only problem with the garden inside the house is that there are a lot of problems with insects. But it can easily be solved with some insect repellent,"
Zou Yue glanced above the pond; it was completely bare exposing the blue sky above. "But this doesn't look secure enough," he mumbled softly.
"Oh, if you want you can secure this place with an extra railing. The walls are securely built in so they can handle the extra weight."
"Oh I see, can I take a look around by myself,"
The agent agreed happily. Zou Yue happily walked around. 'I can raise fish inside this pond as for the flower patch, it can act as a small vegetable patch for fresh vegetables. But the only problem is the storage. But where do I store things?.'
"Is there no storage area available here?"
"There is, there is," he excitedly ran over to the master bed room. "There is an attic," he pulled down a flight of stairs that led directly to the attic. This place was very spacious as well and well built.
Zou nodded. "Can we discuss the rate?"
"Definitely!!"
