Contract Marriage: Emperor CEO's Secretary Wife

Chapter 260 - Meeting of the two organizations

Chapter 260 - Meeting of the two organizations

That night, Lu Chen received a message from Tang Li. And just as he concluded, even her blood results turned out positive for pregnancy.

Xiu Mei’s sudden pregnancy was a piece of good news that no one had expected to happen. It was a very much welcomed surprise, at the same time, it also increased the anxiety of Lu Chen and her family.

To not alert Albert and their enemies who are constantly targeting Xiu Mei, she chose to continue going to work acting as normal as possible. She even carefully chose her work attire because she usually wears high-heeled shoes at work, she exchanged them into inch-high kitten heels. Lu Chen was against her insistence on wearing shoes with heels but Xiu Mei didn’t want to give her a chance in alerting their enemies about her pregnancy.

The fact that she changed to wearing kitten heels was already a bit giveaway that she already had something.

Lee In will be following her in the shadows, along with her usual bodyguards assigned by her second eldest brother. If it were Lu Chen’s choice, he would have assigned more bodyguards to her, however, just like what his wife said, that would indeed alert their enemies and they will eventually discover about his wife’s pregnancy.

So the very next day, Xiu Mei who already recovered from her mild fever went to work with mixed emotions. That morning, her assistant pulled her to the side and asked her if she was really okay now and even gossiped about the strange event that happened yesterday.

Xiu Mei glanced at the door of Lu Chen’s office with wide eyes while listening to the gossip. Of course, she lied by saying that she didn’t know why he was like that yesterday.

She was lowkey scolding her husband in her mind.

My gosh! Lu Chen almost screwed up yesterday. Thank goodness that he only attended the meeting and didn’t meet others ah.

She immediately shifted their conversations to a different topic. An hour later, she stalked that article and breathed in relief because it seems no one was suspicious about his sudden good mood. At most, all the colleagues assumed that they’ll be receiving some wedding invitations and some wedding candies.

Yep, the majority of the comments assumed that the boss was in a good mood because the two of them are finally going to get married. They were already lucky enough that this topic didn’t make the headlines today ah.

Xiu Mei was especially careful in working that day. Of course with the help of Lu Shao who purchased a bunch of things that is very helpful for her, she was able to work comfortably with less to worry about. Though her work habits did change subconsciously. For example, she would take at least a ten-minute break every hour, and she would always stop when she feels like she was already getting stressed or tired from what she was doing.

On the other hand, Lu Chen’s mood was the complete opposite of yesterday’s. His hand continuously signing the doc.u.ments before him but his thoughts were not entirely devoted to the work in front of him.

All he wished was to constantly stay by Xiu Mei’s side from now on, but God was too harsh on him.

A lot of people think that being a President and CEO is a very great position because they can freely do whatever they want, but Lu Chen thought it was a very ridiculous thought process.

He can’t even stay all the time to personally protect Xiu Mei during this most s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e time. Because he was bound by his responsibility as the Lu Corporation President and as the Leader of The Legion.

And so, he could only follow through with his schedule to meet with the head of the Sy Clan this afternoon.

After assuring Xiu Mei’s security details are all good, and that his wife wasn’t pushing herself too hard at work, he finally left with a heavy heart.

Their meeting point was in a restaurant somewhere in the black market.

Lu Chen’s aura completely changed. If before he was simply a stone-cold-faced person, then in the underworld, he completely revealed his intimidating aura and mercilessness to those who dare to overstep the rules and boundaries he had set.

He entered a dimly lit room. At the other end of the room was a half table connected to the other side of the wall. The hole was only big enough to pass food on the other side but not enough to see the person on the other side of the wall.

It might be a strange setup for other people but this was how the organization leaders do their meetings with each other.

No, it’s not because they don’t know each other’s appearance. They actually know each other’s appearances and even their identities in public.

This is a setup to avoid any conflict to breakout whilst in the middle of their meeting. Since each person within the room is dangerous and could easily kill each other in a heartbeat, all major organizations created this practice to avoid those needless bloodbaths.

"It’s been a long time since, Mr.Lu." The Sy Clan head, Lao Mao said as a greeting in such a laidback tone.

"You know I’m not interested in exchanging pleasantries, Lao Mao." Lu Chen coldly replied. He roamed his gaze on the food on the table.

Lao Mao didn’t mind Lu Chen’s heartless response and laughed it off instead.

"I hope you like everything I’ve ordered for you."

Lu Chen only hummed in response.

All the ingredients used on the food on this table were all illegal and strictly banned for selling by the government. But of course, there’s no such thing as ’illegal’ in the black market.

Lu Chen didn’t touch the food at all and directly started their discussion, "I have been informed of your recent movements, Lao Mao."

His voice turned colder as he continued, "It seems like you and your men have too much time in your hands."

Lao Mao didn’t back down and fearlessly answered the allegations, "How heartless, Mr.Lu. All we did was change our toys ah."

He was pertaining about the firearms that they smuggled within the country.

Lu Chen: "I think you’ve gone too senile to forget the surprise you were planning for us."

Lu Chen: "Firearms that came from the Millers, did you think I’ll simply overlook it? Lao Mao is being too ambitious ah. Daring to think that you could overpower us after partnering with a notorious mafia from the west."

"You’re accusing us too much, Mr.Lu. We don’t dare overstep you nor your organization ah." Lao Mao’s tone sounded as if he was wrongly accused yet in Lu Chen’s ears, it sounded very sarcastic.

"Lao Mao." Lu Chen angrily mouthed. "This is a warning. The moment I find evidence of treason, then you should erase your hopes in living as well."

Lao Mao chucked. "Is Mr.Lu threatening me?"

His tone and voice still sounded so laidback showing that he wasn’t the least intimidated by Lu Chen’s warning. Rather, it was as if he was enjoying their exchange as if it was some kind of a comedic conversation that made no sense.

"Yes." Lu Chen acknowledged. "After all, that’s not all that we found on you."

Lu Chen slipped the USB through the hole containing the recording in the car that Lee In gathered during the ambush in the harbor.

Lu Chen: "You’ve been working with another person from the west aside from the Millers. You’ve really worked hard in building and developing your connections for the past year, Lao Mao. I’m actually impressed."

Lu Chen: "Albert Chen, or so how he goes by that name."

The other side was silent so Lu Chen continued his words.

"Aside from Albert Chen, you’re communicating with him through his other representative, Xiu Su Yi. The conversations I heard from that brief recording were really interesting ah."

Lu Chen’s eyes glinted sharply in the dark as he stared at the wall as if he could drill a hole through the wall by simply glaring at it. It was as if he could see the face of the person on the other side as he continued his words.

"Lao Mao is interested in expanding your organization to the west?"

"It seems Mr.Lu must be mistaken? How would I dare expand to the west without your permission ah?" Lao Mao responded.

"Ah, there was even a talk of gold in the conversation. I wonder how much gold did Albert pay you to voluntarily move on his behalf in setting up the Prime Minister’s brother?" Lu Chen ignored his words and continued pressing Lao Mao.

"Why would we waste our time in offending the Prime Minister’s sibling in exchange for gold? Mr.Lu, you’re accusations are rather offending the dignity of the entire Sy Clan. We never work for others even to you."
