The Persian cat had disappeared.
Fu Sichen immediately searched all four corners of the room. Even then, the Persian cat was nowhere to be found!
“A cat? We didn’t see any cat…” The hotel manager gulped nervously, “Best Actor Fu, I can assure you that we take the security of our guests very seriously. We don’t have any gaps when it comes to hotel security.”
The man on the sofa was wearing a black shirt with his sleeves rolled up, exposing his lean and muscular arms. He had a cigarette in one hand, with his other hand resting on the back of the sofa. He listened indifferently before raising his head. His eyes looked as if they had come from the darkest abyss, and the expression on his face was frosty.
The young hotel manager didn’t have the guts to keep talking. She nervously took a few steps back.
“Best… Best Actor Fu.” The young lady was close to tears by this point, and her voice was shaking badly, “I… I… I really don’t know where your cat went.”
Shards of broken glass had been strewn all over the floor near the entrance of the room; the water pitcher had also been thrown onto the floor. It was extremely suspicious, and looked as though a robbery had taken place.
But…
The hotel manager was almost certain that there hadn’t been any signs of a robbery in the hotel.
“Call the police.” Fu Sichen finally said, in a stern and cold voice, “Let me see your surveillance footage.”
“Yes… yes… yes…”
The hotel manager was too scared to argue with him, so she didn’t say that it was too soon to report that his cat had gone missing. Her whole body was bathed in a cold sweat as she agreed to Fu Sichen’s demands. She quickly called her coworkers to try and complete his requests.
The hotel surveillance video was quickly retrieved.
Fu Sichen didn’t have the patience to go through the tape frame by frame, so he fast-forwarded the footage to the point where it showed his hotel room.
He saw a conservatively-dressed figure appear on the screen.
The person knocked on the door three times, looked as though he said something, and then the door seemed to have been opened from the inside.
“What?” Wang Youquan widened his eyes, “Am I missing something? How did he open the door?”
Surely, it couldn’t have been the Persian cat, right?!
Fu Sichen’s forehead was wrinkled into a tight frown. He pursed his lips, didn’t say anything, and continued staring at the screen. Then, he saw the white Persian cat skillfully jump onto that person’s head.
There was a familiar closeness in the cat’s attitude towards the mysterious person. He didn’t seem to resist that person at all.
The cat had even taken the initiative!
After realizing this, Fu Sichen’s expression turned even colder. When the figure opened up his backpack, the cat had even jumped into it without a shred of hesitation.
“Ahhhhh.” Wang Youquan was also anxious about the cat being taken away by someone, “Isn’t Pei Pei really smart? How could he fall into such an obvious trap? Or maybe, there was some kind of food in the backpack that acted as bait?”
Indeed, the Persian cat was smart.
But, no matter how smart he was, in the end, he was still a cat.
Wang Youquan suddenly recalled the guide dog incident, and a scary idea came to mind, “Sichen, maybe the dog thieves are trying to get back at you? Maybe they tracked you down to take Pei Pei away?”
“No, that’s highly unlikely.” Fu Sichen slightly rewound the surveillance footage. He wanted to know what the person in the video had said. “Is there no audio on this thing?”
Fu Sichen was asking the hotel manager.
The hotel manager felt extremely nervous, stammering, “No… no…”
Fu Sichen gave her an icy look. It was obvious that he thought that the hotel security was subpar.
Fu Sichen felt both anxious and angry, but he was also frighteningly calm at the same time.
Before the police arrived, he had already started investigating for himself.
According to the surveillance video, it hadn’t been very long since that person had left the hotel. Fu Sichen ordered the hotel security to chase after that person, and hunt him down. At the same time, he was impatiently trying to lipread what the person had said in the video.
“Pei Pei… It’s me…”
Fu Sichen tried to repeat what he thought the figure in the video was mouthing. Wang Youquan tried it out for himself, and he also felt like what Fu Sichen had guessed was highly probable.
“How dare he!”
At this point, Fu Sichen recognized who the person in the surveillance video was. He tried to suppress how angry he was before picking up his phone to make a call.
