Chapter 114: Save the Saviour(20)
Chapter 114: Save the Saviour(20)
Even though there had been similar thoughts before, those ideas and notions had merely flashed by, and he himself had felt that these absurd thoughts were not very credible. But now, Ren Zhu fixedly stared inside, watching as the idea he had previously dismissed appeared vividly before him, turned into something that was actually happening. Ren Zhu felt that this world was brimming with malice.
Ren Zhu didn’t speak, but his hand tightly held onto Yi Xiao’s hand. The latter seemed to want to comfort his partner, but before he could act, his partner withdrew his hand, grinding his teeth. “Let’s destroy their lair.”
Yi Xiao, the Grand Zombie King, strongly supported this assertive decision. Even if the world had turned into an apocalyptic realm, the one who should destroy it should be himself, not all sorts of chaotic things that arrived on meteorites from outer space. Even if he turned everyone into zombie minions, it would still be better than having these bunch of disarrayed vermin occupy the Earth.
“Let’s listen to see if we can get more information. I’m a bit curious about that red stone, it feels like I’ve seen it somewhere before,” Ren Zhu muttered to himself. Yi Xiao’s memory was clearly much better than his partner’s. He spoke up, “That black stone.”
Ren Zhu’s face changed. “Right, that stone’s shape is very similar to this red stone, except for the color. But black and red… It can’t possibly be what I’m thinking, right?”
As Ren Zhu said this, the conversation between Dao Lian and the alien came through.
“How’s the world incubating now? Apart from you, have any of the other imperial commanders appeared? Have you found the queen’s egg? How are the reactions of the native inhabitants here? Have they discovered our presence?” The alien asked a series of questions, each one causing Ren Zhu’s brows to furrow.
Dao Lian seemed to have been prepared for these questions for some time now. He nodded and answered them one by one, “It’s only about thirty percent incubated. We have our people all around the world, but due to various reasons, only five imperial commanders have appeared. I can’t pinpoint who they are exactly, but at least in this nation, I’m the only one. The queen’s egg is in the desert where the snow and ice meet. I can sense it, and she’s safe for now. It just lacks nourishment. Previously, I wanted to capture more humans as nourishment for the queen, but things went a bit awry. Now that you’ve awakened, I’ll leave the task of awakening the queen to you. I plan to first destroy the four troublesome large resistance bases in this nation.”
Just as Mizuki was about to praise Dao Lian, she suddenly felt her heart skip a beat. At the same time, Dao Lian’s expression became extremely wary. Without thinking, he grabbed a zombie from the room and placed it in front of him. However, he was immediately struck by an immense, dreadful force and sent flying. Meanwhile, he heard a furious roar from Mizuki.
“Why did you two follow me?!”
Dao Lian’s heart skipped a beat. He instinctively felt that this was a massive crisis. If he didn’t handle it properly, he would be facing death. As one of the ten imperial commanders of the undead, Dao Lian was certainly not a hesitant character. Therefore, while Yi Xiao and Ren Zhu were focused on Mizuki and the zombie inside the room, Dao Lian’s brow lit up with a flash of red, and the next moment his body trembled violently.
“If we didn’t follow, we wouldn’t know that the culprits behind this apocalypse are you all, these miscellaneous things! It’s shameless and insidious of you. Even if you wanted to occupy Earth, real men should come over and fight with humans openly, not destroy the Earth’s ecosystem through this underhanded and shameless method! You bunch of wanderers, forever destitute and incapable, still want to conquer the Earth? Dream on! We’ll send you to the afterlife now,” scolded Ren Zhu, giving his lecture with the effects of a [class teacher’s reprimand skill]. Mizuki’s reaction was visibly slower after being directly sprayed by Ren Zhu’s words, as if her mind suddenly wasn’t working well enough. Then, Ren Zhu grabbed a chair and ferociously bashed it onto Mizuki’s head, a scene that Yi Xiao, dashing towards them, saw and that somehow brought to his mind a series of images:
[Bashing street punks with bricks, hitting gangsters with folding chairs, smashing rabbits and chickens with sticks…]
Looking at these images, Yi Xiao’s previously stiff face slowly softened, and the corners of his mouth that had always been tightly pursed curved almost imperceptibly. His partner was truly formidable; it seemed like they were a perfect match, tailor-made for each other.
After Ren Zhu shattered Mizuki’s head, logically, it should have ended her life. However, as Ren Zhu turned around, suddenly a disgusting, reddish, hideous worm emerged from Mizuki’s neck. This worm had membranous wings and legs with extremely strong jumping power, like a fusion of several bugs, but what particularly horrified Ren Zhu was that the worm had a round head with features almost resembling a human’s!
“Disgusting!”
Ren Zhu felt that not throwing up right then was a testament to his strong endurance. The repugnant, long worm lunged at him, seemingly as if it wanted to parasitize his body. In an instant, Teacher Ren exploded, shouting, “Stop! You idiot!!”
This furious roar directly lowered the worm’s IQ by two hundred points. It transformed into a moronic creature, forgetting what it was doing and even forgetting that it could fly. It plopped to the ground with a splat and was then stomped to death by the Zombie King Yi Xiao.
The death of this red worm seemed to have a significant deterrent effect on the surrounding zombies, but Ren Zhu had no time to pay attention to them. “There’s still another one! That one called Dao Lian!”
Easily, Yi Xiao found Dao Lian hiding behind a zombie, cowering in a corner against the wall. At this moment, Dao Lian’s eyes were clouded. As soon as he was discovered, he roared in anger and pounced, appearing fierce and malicious, but somewhat different from before.
“No, something’s off… It seems like it’s become stupid?” Ren Zhu frowned.
Yi Xiao didn’t care whether this thing was smart or not. He sent a fist wind over and knocked off Dao Lian’s head. But after waiting for a long time around Dao Lian’s corpse, and after clearing out the incoming zombies, they still didn’t find the creature that should have appeared in Dao Lian’s head. Ren Zhu furrowed his brows and had to admit, “… It got away.”
This was definitely not something to be happy about.
Yi Xiao hadn’t expected that a creature would manage to escape right under his nose. But now, that creature had already blended in with the zombies, like rain into the sea. They were no longer able to locate it.
“Let’s go back and inform those big shots at the base about this matter. At least, we need to let the entire human population know who our real enemy is. Otherwise, everyone, including the researchers, will still be grappling with the virus, unaware that we’re about to be invaded by extraterrestrials in our own home.”
Yi Xiao nodded in agreement, his arm around Ren Zhu’s waist as they flew through the air. After they had been gone for a while, a zombie from within the horde slowly poked its head out. In its eyes flashed anger and malevolence. “Original City Base… damned humans!”
It had already been exposed now. Although it wanted to wipe out the entire region of human base directly, from the situation just now, it couldn’t possibly contend with that strange guy. In this case, it could only hatch the queen first. Once the queen was born, so what if that strange human appeared again? No human could resist the queen’s mental allure!
So, when Ren Zhu and Yi Xiao returned to the Original City Base, Dao Lian had already gone to the Gobi Desert region near the North Pole.
And Ren Zhu and Yi Xiao were still left facing a group of bewildered human big shots.
“What did you say? Alien invasion?!”
“No, Old Meng, Xiao Ren said it’s an alien parasitic invasion.”
“Well, if that’s really the case, I can’t even imagine the billions of zombies outside…”
Those present imagined that scene for a moment and couldn’t help but shudder. Then, Old Meng clenched his teeth, “I’m activating satellite communication to send signals to all major bases. We need to inform everyone about this terrifying yet real news!”
“But, Old Meng, right now we don’t have any real evidence. Just this squashed mess of a worm isn’t very convincing!”
Just as someone was doubting this, Da Huan, dressed in a white coat, rushed in as if being chased by a dog. “Damn it! Hurry to the underground research lab! That black stone turned red! There seems to be something strange inside!”
Ren Zhu’s eyes suddenly sharpened.
