Chapter 46: Different But Not Like Us
Chapter 46: Different But Not Like Us
Tommy continued to cry out while rolling around. He had attracted the attention of everyone in the gym so no one was playing anymore. As the students circled around to see what had happened, the male and female coach tried to get in close to take a look at what had happened. Since the male coach who was watching this game was a bit away, he had failed to hear the sound of bone breaking.
Jesse heard it and crawled his way over with his nose bleeding to check on his friend. Laz just took a few steps away and turned around. He wasn't sorry, but he wasn't about to gloat about something like this. Kennedy, on the other hand, seemed to almost crack a smile at seeing her "boyfriend" rolling around on the ground in pain.
*What did you do?* She asked, knowing that Laz was still connected with her.
*Me? Nothing actually. The only thing I can possibly be held responsible for was moving forward and dodging the ball so I didn't get hit in the head. Everything else was completely by accident.* Laz said in a serious mental tone.
*Somehow, I don't believe you.* Kennedy replied while slowing walking over. She felt like this young man was getting more and more naughty. Maybe this was his real self and she was only figuring it out since she had started paying attention to him.
People were like that sometimes. You may think you know someone from the surface, but the more you interact with them, the more you find out. It's like digging for treasure from a never ending source.
Tommy, on the other hand, wasn't having a good time. As he lay there with his arm feeling on fire, he couldn't help but replay the situation in his head.
'How did it happen? I was coming straight for him and then he stepped forward. But why?' Between the pain in his arm, he couldn't understand why Laz would step forward instead of backwards if he was going for the ball. Then he would have bumped forward off of Jesse, messed up getting the ball, and Tommy would have 'accidentally' hit him while trying to go for the ball.
'So why did he step forward instead of backwards. There is no way he could have gotten the ball that way unless... he never meant to get it.' Like a firecracker in the night sky, Tommy finally put the clues together and realized he had been set up. Laz had made this happen.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Tommy roared as he stood up and glared at Laz.
Laz was expecting a reaction out of him after breaking his arm, but not this. He couldn't help but put a blank look on his face as he looked back at Tommy.
Even if he had avoided their set up, there was no way he could have planned this out that perfectly. Jesse with a face full of ball and Tommy without the ability to jerk off with his primary hand was not the intended result, just a nice surprise.
Tommy's mind started working in ways that made no sense what so ever and immediately decided that Laz had done this intentionally. He couldn't help but get more and more angry as the rage built up inside of him. His entire body seemed to expand slightly.
Jesse and Alex had gotten close and the male coach had finally gotten through the crowd before yelling back to the female coach to call the school nurse and an ambulance. He could see Tommy's arm was was bent in a unnatural angle and knew there would be problems.
As he got closer to Tommy, Tommy started to lose it.
"I WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU." Tommy screamed as he lifted his good arm and pointed at Laz. Kennedy had just walked up, but was standing outside the crowd while watching this develop. Even if she wanted to do something she had two reasons not to.
Firstly, Laz wouldn't need her help to deal with Tommy normally. Finally, She felt like her presence would just make Tommy go more bat shit crazy and that wouldn't solve anything.
As Tommy glared at Laz, his eyes started turning a blood colored shade of red. Alarmed, Laz looked closer at Tommy and noticed he also had red streaks forming under his eyes while his heart was pumping so hard it looked like it would burst out of his chest.
"What is happening to him?"
"Is he crying blood? That is so fucking cool."
"No, its not blood. They look like some sort of red paint. Did his face scrape some off the floor?".
As the other students looked on in wonder, Tommy started to develop red war paint like streaks that ran from his eyes to his mouth, giving him a hideously sinister appearance. While everyone else thought it was some paint or a rash from the floor, Laz and Kennedy were getting a much different feeling.
*What's going on?* Kennedy asked, not knowing what the feeling was.
*I'm not sure. It's like he's changing, but it feels different from us.* Laz responded as he focused his senses on Tommy. If the vibe between Kennedy and Laz or Malene and Laz could be called a dissonance, then the vibe between Laz and Tommy could be called two opposing war songs, each one trying to drown out the other.
Between Kennedy and Laz, there was the chance to blend the frequency, but no such situation could be felt from Tommy. He was a different creature all together and there could not be anything but blood between the two. Laz had no idea if Tommy felt it, but he sure as hell did.
*Kennedy, you got an idea to calm him down?* Laz asked as he took a step back. He was closer to Tommy, so he could feel the intensity of his hatred far more than she could. As such, he felt like it would be better to back away a step.
He wasn't afraid of Tommy in the slightest, but he felt it would be best not to fight at school. It would lead to unwanted problems.
As The coach finally reached Tommy, he took a step forward and tried to block his way.
"Son, maybe you should sit down for a moment. We've called an ambulance and it will be here soon. I saw the whole thing happen and it was an accident," the coach said, trying to calm Tommy down.
"Screw you old man," Tommy raged. He used his good arm to push the coach to the side. The result was the coach was thrown almost 10 feet into the crowd of students circling him. Surprised shouts and gasps of pain sounded out from all of the students he crashed into while the others who were watching couldn't help but stand there, slacked jawed in disbelief.
'How the hell could he throw the coach like that?' Ran threw everyone's heads. The coach was a full grown and rather muscular man who obviously worked out regularly. He had to weigh at least 100 kg where as Tommy couldn't be more than 45 at most. There was no way he should have been able to do that.
*Oh my god, is he hulking out or something? And what do you want me to do? Can't you just kick his ass or like knock him out?* Kennedy asked as she took a step back from Tommy's exploding aura.
*You want me to kick his ass, in school, in front of like 50 witnesses? I'm just fucking glad that no one has a cell phone right now.* Laz responded, taking another step back.
Kennedy looked around in a bit of a panic as she knew Laz made sense. Although he could beat Tommy up no problem, that wasn't a usable solution right now. She finally laid her eyes on the vollyball that was just a few feet in front of her.
*oh, OH OH OH. I've got a great idea. Take two more steps back and then don't move an inch.* Kennedy said and she stuck her foot forward and using the toe of her shoe, she brought the ball to directly in front of her.
*Really? That's it?* Laz responded, a bit shocked. Tommy had started taking slow steps towards Laz as though he was possessed. Jesse and Alex were going to try to stop him, but after seeing the coach fly away, they lost the nerve to intervene.
*You got to trust me on this,* Kennedy said in he most positive mental voice.
*Alright, my future is in your hands.* Laz said with a bit of good-natured humor. Although he knew he could take Tommy, he also felt more and more like getting hit by Tommy would be a hell of a lot worse than getting shot with rubber bullets.
It wasn't a pain he really wanted to endure, although once he got hit, he would have every right to hit him back. Instead, he was going to fully trust Kennedy on this one and not even raise his hands to block.
He instead took two steps back, put his arms down, and took on a look like Tommy was a weird sort of crazy new creature at a zoo. It was a look of humor, mixed with interest and no fear what so ever.
This look that Laz took on along with his entire relaxed position just made Tommy even more pissed as he started to go at Laz faster.
Kennedy wasn't idle in the least. As she looked at a few people's legs that had been glued to the floor in shock and interest, calculated a route, kicked the ball, and started to walk around the circle so no one would be able to associated what was going to happen next with her.
Although the other students felt the ball hit their legs, they never bothered looked down as they watched Tommy running at Laz with a murderous look in his eyes.
Since he was so focused, he never noticed the ball that had rolled right in front of him, so he never even tried to dodge it.
Tommy's lunging running strides came to a quick stop as he stepped on the ball and lost his feet from under him.
In a moment that could only be described as epically painful, Tommy's forward momentum caused him to face plant right into the gym floor right before he reached Laz, completely knocking himself out.
The silence in the gym was frightening as everyone had collectively held their breaths. Too much had happened and to many changes had occurred for anyone to think straight. Even Laz stood there, completely speechless. There was no way he could have seen this coming. He had noticed the ball rolling into the area, but he didn't think that it would end up so perfect.
Although everyone else was shocked silent, Kennedy had her hand over her mouth as her face turned bright red. She was using everything in her power to not break out in roaring laughter and ruin this moment.
