Chapter 34: Seal The Deal
Chapter 34: Seal The Deal
Kennedy couldn't help but stare at Laz in shock. This unassuming little boy was able to take her down as though she was nothing and now, even though she was being held down by him, he wasn't choking her or taking advantage of her. In her entire life, he was the first guy who had power over her that didn't try to take advantage of her.
It was an awkward feeling and she didn't know what to make of it. He didn't try to flaunt himself to her and almost totally disregarded her. As strange as it sounded, it made her somewhat interested in him. She might be afraid of him, but that didn't mean she feared he would do something to her.
Laz got off her and stood up as though he hadn't done anything worth mentioning. Although Kennedy had fought with him, he didn't feel any malice from her, nor hatred. From what he could pick up though, her attitude about him had changed although he didn't know how.
Kennedy just laid there for a moment and looked up at him. Despite his age, she couldn't help but think he was somewhat attractive. He wasn't really handsome, but it looks weren't horrible either. Instead, he seemed to project an aura of actual confidence, not just a fake sort of ego that meant he thought he was better than everyone. Laz didn't even know he was doing it.
Laz seemed to think for a moment in silence before extending his hand out to her to help her up. Kennedy's first reaction was to ignore him followed by wanting to smack his hand away but she ended up just reaching her hand out and grabbing his.
Using his normal strength, he pulled her up to her feet and backed off a step so that she could brush herself off without him breathing down her neck. Laz's eyes had returned back to there normal blue color as he looked around at the clearing, seemingly studying how she moved from tree to tree so quickly. Even with her great speed, she would need to make quick decisions to keep herself moving like that and Laz couldn't help but silently complement her in his head.
"How?" Was the only question she could manage to get out despite the various thoughts going through her head.
"You lack experience and although you're fast, you have no strength to your attacks," was Laz's response back. Although he said this, the truth was she was actually quite a bit stronger than a full grown male. The problem was that Laz was several times stronger than that without even pumping his inner energy.
"So Tony knew about this?" Was the next question she could voice while brushing the dirt and grass off of her clothes. She could only be secretly happy that she didn't get grass stains on her clothes since they were some of her nicer ones. Although she was making some money, it's not like she could afford to spend without care although she had an image to uphold.
"Yeah, he knows. We kind of killed someone together so he has a pretty decent idea about me," Laz lied. He didn't have a reason to trust this girl yet despite their "partnership" so he wasn't about to tell her all of his secrets. As always, less is more.
"I guess you're not half bad. I didn't know why he would want me to work with some kid like you, but it seems like you might be somewhat useful," Kennedy reasoned out loud.
"Yeah, not sure about you though," Laz fired back.
"What's that suppose to mean?" Kennedy asked while frowning.
"You're too sure of yourself. I don't know why you got so fast, but I can tell you never really practiced it," Laz commented while starting to walk again. It was getting somewhat late and although he didn't have a time where he had to get to work, he liked to be there by 4 since the latest he could work was 7.
"What's your point then?" Kennedy asked as though she was somewhat interested in what he had to say. She realized the more she talked with him, the more interesting he became. He seemed to be able to teach her some things about her changes which was something she needed. She wanted to be self reliant and not have to have someone protect her, so anything she could learn would be useful.
Kennedy also understood that changing was probably not a good thing. She had seen the stories and heard the reports. Although she didn't know what was going on, she had watched a lot of movies like Laz and therefore knew that it was best to keep this thing secret. One plus side about living in the modern age was that everyone started to figure out how to handle things that would have scared the shit out of people 50 years ago.
"My point is, can you dodge bullets?" Laz stopped and turned around to look at her, wondering what she would say. Kennedy was absorbed into her own thoughts, wondering if this kid could actually help her. Since she hadn't been paying attention to his movements, she failed to react to him stopping and kept walking forward. Since Kennedy was taller than Laz, she ended up walking right into him and burying his face in her ample and perky breasts. Due to her being a bit older, her chest was closer to being a full size woman's than a young growing teen so there was a lot for Laz to get lost in.
For a moment, neither of them moved. Kennedy was so shocked by what happened, she just froze while at the same time, Laz couldn't help but be surprised. He took a deep breath, drawing in Kennedy's unique and wonderful scent. Kennedy jumped back quickly though as soon as she noticed Laz's actions.
Laz stood there in a daze, appreciating the soft and warm feeling that he was just buried in. 'Should I be glad or disappointed that she was wearing a bra,' he thought to himself.
"Why you little..." Kennedy's voice trailed off. He was the one who stopped and turned around, but he didn't walk towards her. She was responsible for the situation that had occurred and although she knew it, she was still going to blame him.
Not missing a beat, Laz put on his most serious face and said, "Your situational awareness is lacking. You didn't even noticed when I stopped moving. How would you keep track of people shooting at you. It doesn't matter how fast you can move if you don't even know your being shot at.".
Although Laz was serious on the outside, he was bouncing for joy on the inside. 'Wait, is this like first base?' He questioned in his head. For some reason, he couldn't help but change his attitude about her and want to tease her. It probably had to do with that awkward moment they just shared. As they say, sometimes you just need to break the ice.
Kennedy stared at him for a moment and thought he was rather mature for his age if something like this didn't even phase him. She then looked down a bit and noticed the rising tent in his pants which made her throw that thought away. 'Nope. He's still just a horny kid.'
"I almost thought you were cool there for a minute, but then your boner ruined it," Kennedy said with a somewhat devilish smile on her face. She really wanted to kick this guy's ass.
Laz looked down and realized she was right. He thought he was hiding it better.
"Hey! This is the highest form of appreciation that can be given considering your frontal assault. It just means that your boobs have passed!" Laz replied with a wicked grin on his face while giving her a thumbs up.
In the brief moment of silence that followed afterwords, they both stared at each other without making a move. A small gust of wind blew through the clearing, blowing around the fallen leaves on the ground.
'Shit!!" Laz turned around and ran as hard as he could.
"Get back here you little asshole or I swear I will break it in half," Kennedy shouted while running after him.
"You're lying. You plan on breaking it as soon as I stop," Laz shot back while nimbly running through the trees.
"How do you know that?" Kennedy threw out while jumping from tree to tree. Although she could get close to him, she didn't think she could take him from their previous experience. She was just looking for an opening.
"Because I can read your mind," Laz lied, hoping to get a reaction.
Kennedy came to a stop in front of him, looking at him a bit dumbfounded.
"Really?"
"No."
Once again the silence took over. If one were to judge the amount of time Kennedy and Laz had spent looking at each other without saying anything, they would find it was almost equal to the time that Laz had pissed her off.
"Damn you, you little shit.."
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry for what happened. Is that better?" Laz said with an apologetic look on his face. He knew that although he wasn't handsome, his eyes could make him look pretty pitiful and thought he could earn forgiveness this way.
His lack of experience with girls was his downfall however. They don't forgive easily and they forget even harder.
"Of course, I might have been a bit over the top myself," Kennedy admitted while coming closer, as though she wanted to give him a hug.
Laz knew she was angry, but he knew he wasn't going to get out of this anytime soon and he had to get to work. He probably didn't know this at the time, but he had finally reached level one learning in regards to women. Sometimes they are right, even if they are wrong.
When Kennedy got in close and saw the Laz hadn't moved, she let out a small chuckle to herself before engaging her blood and disappearing on the spot. Even though Laz could sense where she was and what was going to happen, he just gritted his teeth and acted surprised.
Kennedy appeared behind him in a split second and swinging her leg around, she threw a front kick right at his upper back. Even though Laz could have stood there and not moved, he thought it was a good idea to fall forward as though the kick actually hurt. He knew he had acted over the top and felt like she deserved this bit of revenge. He threw himself forward, practically diving onto the ground and slid a bit before coming to a stop. All in all, he felt like she should be happy with landing this blow on him.
Laz's acting was really bad and over exaggerated and Kennedy saw through it right away, but she chose to keep silent about it. Her interactions with him were basically annoying as hell, but she found he could be somewhat adorable at times now too. He knew she was mad so he wanted to appease her. In this way, he was already better than 95 percent of the men she had met who cared more about their image than others.
Not wanting to say anything more, Kennedy walked over to him while he rolled over and looked up towards the sky. Standing over him, Kennedy didn't loose her angry look for a second although she was quite amused inside. Her acting compared to his was miles away better.
She leaned down and dropped a piece of paper on his shirt before turning around and walking back towards the school.
"That's my number. Send me a text when you get a chance so that I have yours. I will let you know when I need you." Her voiced drifted away as she walked, not looking back.
'I'm never going to understand women' Laz said to himself, gazing at the blue sky overhead.
