Chapter 321 318: Chillin
Chapter 321 318: Chillin
After hours of sex, Val and Eliana emerged from the room, dressed modestly. The morning light escaping into the house through the windows meant for ventilation purposes cast a soft glow around them, giving off the illusion that they were newlyweds who had experienced a blissful honeymoon.
They blinked away the remnants of a night spent wrapped in each other's embrace, not quite ready to face the day.
As their gazes adjusted to the light, they found Valentine sitting at the kitchen table, a look that was half amusement and half feigned annoyance on her face.
"Oh, there she is. Looks like I was right," Val said.
Eliana felt shy and ashamed because of obvious reasons. Val wasn't loud last night. He let his actions speak for him. It was she who was moaning like there was no tomorrow, disturbing Valentine's peaceful sleep.
Without missing a beat, Valentine yawned widely and rubbed her eyes theatrically.
"You two didn't leave much to the imagination last night, did you? Could've sworn the whole house was shaking," she said, her voice teasing yet thick with the weight of a sleepless night.
Val leaned against the doorway, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Well, what can I say? That's what young people in love do." he quipped back, pride lacing his words as he draped an arm around Eliana's shoulder, who by now was a portrait of embarrassment, her cheeks blooming a deep shade of red.
Eliana cast her eyes down, the heat from her cheeks nearly tangible. "Valentine, I... we didn't mean it... I'm sorry," she stammered, her words tumbling out in a bashful rush. She wasn't intentionally being loud. Val had forced all those voices out of her. And in the midst of passion, she had forgotten all about there being a guest in the house.
Val couldn't be blamed either. At that time, he wasn't aware Valentine was in the house. Otherwise, he would've exorcised restraint.
After all, his love was heavy and dark.
He was a possessive person. In fact, he was so possessive that he wanted to imprison Eliana and lock her away from the rest of the world.
But that would hurt her and ruin what they already have. So he kept his dark thoughts to himself.
He also didn't like the fact that Valentine had heard Eliana's sweet moans. That was a privilege only he should have. But he kept a jolly attitude from the start to not strain any relations.
Valentine was Eliana's boss. She was also kind to her. It was better to not alienate her.
With a soft chuckle, Valentine stood up from her chair, waving off the apology. "It's fine, really. It's good to see such passion, especially after everything that's happened. And congratulations are in order for both of you—Eliana, for having your man back safe and sound, and Val, for emerging victorious in the competition. You've earned your celebrations," Valentine said, her smile genuine and her eyes crinkling with joy for the couple's reunion.
Val's chest puffed out a little at the acknowledgment. "Thank you, Valentine. We fought hard, and not just last night," he joked, earning an eye roll from Eliana but a chuckle from Valentine.
With a knowing smile, Valentine announced her intention to leave them be.
Nodding, Valentine gathered her things, ready to leave the two alone. Since there was a person to protect Eliana from unexpected danger, she saw no reason to stay behind and disturb them.
"I'll get out of your hair then," she announced, heading towards the door.
But just before stepping out, she paused and turned back to Eliana with a considerate gaze. "And you, no need to show up at work today. Take some time to rest—you've had a long night."
Eliana felt embarrassed but also treasured.
"I... Thank you, miss. That's very kind of you," she murmured, a grateful smile tugging at her lips.
"No problem,"
With a nod and a gentle smile, Valentine closed the door behind her, leaving the couple in the privacy of their home.
Val steered Eliana back towards the room, telling her to get some well-deserved rest.
Previously, he was rough and passionate, working like a well-oiled machine, not letting her get a wink of sleep, but now he was being so considerate and gentle, that Eliana's heart melted.
As he turned to leave, her hand reached out, her fingers lightly grasping the cuff of his shirt.
He looked back with an unspoken question lingering in his gaze.
"What do you want?" he asked gently.
"Will you... hold me to sleep?" Eliana's voice was soft, her eyes reflecting a mix of love and exhaustion.
"Why not?" Val replied, his voice carrying a tender note.
He climbed into bed beside her and wrapped his arms around her, drawing her closer, and she nestled into his embrace like a rabbit returning to its burrow.
'This feels so relaxing.'
Laying in his arms, a sense of comfort washed over her, and her weary eyes fluttered shut.
Within moments, her breathing evened out, and Val knew she had succumbed to sleep.
He watched her for a moment, a content sigh escaping his lips.
'I wonder how strong she has become.'
Looking at her with a narrowed gaze, he cast Detect.
Her strength had grown.
She was a level 2 priestess with more than two skills.
Her latest power was, to Val's shock, not a bloodline skill.
Rather, it was a power granted to her by the God of Light.
The name of the power was Luminous Sanctuary.
When Val focused on the name of the skill, he received its details.
After going through its details, he realized it was a formidable one.
In gamer's terms, It was an AOE ability that allowed her to create a zone of pure light that could not only protect, purify, and heal the people within its bounds but also burn devils and reduce them to ashes.
'She exceeded my expectations yet again,' Val thought with raised lips.
