Chapter 56 The EIA'S Ugly Side
Chapter 56 The EIA'S Ugly Side
"It seems there are some things you have to know about the EIA," Quinn said as he dipped one slice of the Trawl in his mouth.
"The EIA, it's not as simple as it appears. While it might be like a good school with great reputation, the inner circle of the EIA is very competitive, almost brutal." Quinn said looking at Zeras in the eye.
"Do you know in the EIA, apart from the death of a student. The seniors are almost free to do anything else to the new cadets.
Like what just happened now, things like stealing points and bullying is just another common thing in the EIA."
"But won't the instructors be against that or punish people like that?" Zeras asked shocked. Things like that should be punished if discovered.
"No, they won't. To be honest, they actually support that." Quinn said blankly.
"What!!!"
"Look, if you get bullied today by having all your points stolen, then tomorrow, you lose four of your teeth, won't that motivate you to try to grow stronger as fast as possible?" Quinn asked with a smile.
Zeras eyes dilated as he finally understood the reason behind the EIA supporting that. Truly if you get bullied everyday, then no one will teach you to take your cultivation seriously.
"So, maltreatment was needed. Only with competition can the students grow faster making the EIA keep their reputation as the strongest awakener school.
But too much competition and it'll fire back so there are also ways to avoid that which is that one week law where the seniors must not lay hands on the new cadets.
Also if you want to live long in the EIA. You need one of the two things. Stay away from the Seniors at all cost or have a scary background. Scary enough to make all the senior years avoid you..." Quinn said as he took in another slice.
"But can't I report to the Instructors?" "They won't listen. Actually, even though there really is a rule giving us new cadets a week from being bullied, If the two waitress weren't watching, then they won't have cared at all and take away the points forcefully. There will be no solid proof. Do you get it?"
"Is that why Triton was so scared?" Zeras asked in understanding.
"Yes. The Elvian races are not known for their powerful strength. They are more of healers than fighters. And right now, he can either pray for the seniors to avoid him which I think is impossible or he tried his best to appease them. Either way, he's not wrong to obey them at all." Quinn said drawing a nod from Zeras but he couldn't help but notice something strange about Quinn.
"But what about you. You don't look scared at all..." Zeras said. He noticed throughout the ordeal, there wasn't a single time when Quinn was frantic at all, almost like he didn't even care. Apart form standing up as a sign of acknowledgement, there wasn't a single faer on his face.
"Well, I have quite the background which is enough to make them unable to lay hands on me. I'm not sure they'll want to lay hands on one from the Nine families." Quinn said as the duo quickly devoured their meal before standing up making their way towards the exit.
-- -- --
Quinn and Zeras appeared in the dorm rooms as Zeras bid the guy farewell before walking towards his dorm room.
Clenching his hands on the door knob, Zeras was about to enter when he was suddenly interrupted by Quinn's familiar voice.
"Hey, I'm just curious. What would have happened if that senior had really grabbed your shoulder." Quinn asked in between small laughter.
"If he had touched my shoulder... I would have shown him why I'm ranked first on the rankings." Zeras said before entering into his dorm room. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The smile faded away from Quinn's face as he realized Zeras truly wasn't joking at all. Then he smiled as he muttered to himself
"He really was worth making friends with..."
Zeras snapped the door shut close as he tried to forget what just happened in the cafeteria and his anger towards what Triton did slowly faded away.
He didn't really have time for this senior-junior banter. His focus is on growing stronger as soon as possible. If anyone tried to become an obstacle towards that goal, then he'll immediately cut them away.
All in all, the small walk was something he enjoyed and he met with quite the interesting duo today.
Guess it really was worth sparing his three hours if sleep to heed the call.
Zeras immediately entered into his bedroom as he jumped on the bed before snoring off.
Tomorrow was going to be the first day of training and he was expectant on how that will go.
-- -- --
A deep rumbling of his arm immediately brought Zeras out of his sleep as he quickly tried switching off the watch.
Looking at the screen, he could see the notification.
"Training Drilla will start an hour from now." Zeras immediately jumped up from bed as he moved towards the washroom to get ready for the day.
20 minutes later...
A young man with raven dark and blue eyes could be seen dressed in a dark-red uniform. Zeras looked at his picture on the mirror as he couldn't help but give himself a nod looking at the beauty on the mirror.
"And that damn system said I don't have charm, Tch." He said with a prideful smirk and disdainful smirk on his face but the system notification suddenly appeared in front of him
[Charm: null]
Zeras snorted coldly as he ignored the jealous system.
Looking at the front of his uniform, there was a golden image of a star in front of the cloth, depicting him to be the First on the new cadets rankings.
With one last look at the mirror, Zeras slowly exited his dorm room, moving towards the direction the arrow pointed.
