Chapter 30 - Scared Friend
Chapter 30 - Scared Friend
In the afternoon, Mo Liang brought Jing Lihua to a nearby restaurant.
"Why do you look upset?"
"Its nothing." Jing Lihua didn’t sound cheerful. Her mind was still stuck on those mysterious ’two groups’ from Hong Kong. "Why did you bring me here? You could have just sent that invitation to the fashion week through my secretary’s hands."
"Why would I miss a chance to take my darling to dinner?"
"You are back at it again. Was the previous beating not enough?" Jing Lihua put a piece of sweet and sour chicken in her mouth after giving him a warning glare.
"I’ve a favor to ask from you," Jing Lihua said.
"If my little flower wants me..."
"You seriously have forgotten your previous beating." This time Jing Lihua had a dead-serious expression, even her voice grew colder. There was no way she could straighten Mo Liang once and for all. She had to give him constant reminders to keep him on track. He shuddered and buried himself in his chair like a scared kitten.
"Better" Jing Lihua commented, satisfied. "My father said that he wanted to meet you"
"And does President Jing want me to meet him?" His voice was noticeably reverent.
If millions of his fans found out that their Liang price who was notorious for breaking the hearts of countless females, was trembling like a scared cat in front of a woman, they wouldn’t believe it.
"Of course, I want you to meet him. But I won’t stop you from rejecting him. And also I won’t stop you from offending him in any way. If you know what I mean..."
"I got it" His eyes glinted devilishly.
As they continued their dinner and chattered about recent happenings in their lives, Mo Liang’s expressions grew uneasy. Like he wanted to say something but was too scared to utter a thing.
Poor kid. She didn’t scare him too much, did she?
"Spit it, what is it?"
"Your marriage with Su Liwei"
Jing Lihua tensed. Mo Liang cringed. His chair moved slightly backward as he slipped away from Jing Lihua.
Seriously? Why was he acting like she was some tyrant? She didn’t threaten to kill him. Okay, maybe she did, once or twice. Maybe more times. But he wouldn’t be stupid enough to believe it. Right?
"Go on."
Mo Liang inhaled deeply and said it one breath like he had mustered all of his courage to say those words.
"Ever since that day you told us Su Liwei has gone to Vietnam, I’ve been worried. I know you don’t like it when someone interferes in your personal matters but I won’t stop pressing you even if you beat me to death."
"What do you want to know?" Jing Lihua submissively asked. There was no way she could hide it forever.
But how did he come to suspect? Did she give it away? But she was always cautious. Was she that easy to read?
"Are you happy? Happy with this arrangement" His eyes looked sincere.
The sincerity in his eyes made it difficult for Jing Lihua to get mad at him. She thought; at least, she could have some companion to share her concerns. And she knew she could trust Mo Liang and Zhao Liying with her life. So she decided to reveal everything to him.
She told him how Su Liwei intended to bring her company to decline and how she had been countering his plans. Mo Liang was stunned.
He fell into silence when Jing Lihua finished. After a while, he asked with deep concern in his eyes: "Have you told your grandfather"
"No."
"Why? You must inform him as soon as possible and get rid of this marriage."
"That’s exactly why haven’t I told him. He would want me to get a divorce. But once I divorce him, Su Liwei will know I’ve known of his intentions. Then he’ll not need to use underhand tricks to hurt the Tang enterprise. He’ll come at us openly. Su family is the top one in Beijing. With our current strength, we can’t fight him."
"Why would he even do that?" Mo Liang was still in a state of disbelief. He couldn’t believe it that the man his Xiao Hua loved with all sincerity would attempt to harm her.
"I wish I could know." She really wished she could know it in her last life. In fact, it was all she wanted to know n her last life. But Su Liwei never told her. And this time she was indifferent.
If he hates her then be it. But if he tries to attack her or her friends, she’ll not let this happen.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" His Xiao Hua was the most precious thing to him. He treated her like his little sister. Ever since they were young, they have been best friends. How could he sit and watch his Xiao Hua being bullied?
"No. Your father might be the richest but you can’t rival him. You know currently Su family tops the Beijing city. And I don’t want to bring you any trouble."
"How can you shrug it off like this? You loved him your entire life, didn’t you?" Mo Liang couldn’t digest Jing Lihua indifferent when she told him about Su Liwei.
"Then, would you prefer it if I were crying?"
"At least show some grief! Your indifferent response is giving me creeps!" Scary. It must mean she was more than angry to be cold and planning something horrifying. He knew his Xiao Hua well.
Jing Lihua tilted her head to a side and took a sip of her drink.
"I’m not indifferent. Look into my eyes. Look deeply. What do you see?" She playfully said.
"I-I see coldness, calmness... no, it’s not that normal sort of calmness, it is calmness before a storm. I see something deep... hate? Despise? Loathe? No, something’s sharp too... wait, is it vengeance?"
"Would you stop being dramatic."
After a hearty conversation with Mo Liang, Jing Lihua felt refreshed. Even though his presence irked her to no end, somehow he relieved her stress by replacing it with a new one.
"Would you tell Zhao Liying?" Jing Lihua asked when they were walking out of the restaurant.
"Of course, she would be happy as hell."
"Happy?"
"She never liked that Su Liwei guy. Not after he started ignoring you anyway. She curses him behind your back every now and then. And don’t you remember that she intended to feed his d*ck to little fluffy?"
"That would be..." Jing Lihua stopped once she hit into someone.
"Sorry" She mumbled and bent down to pick up the person’s handbag. Even though it was not her fault that she fell because the woman suddenly stopped in her path, she still picked up their stuff. Once her eyes landed on her face, she frowned.
"Could my cousin not keep you satisfied that start hunting for new males so soon?" Su Lanfen mocked Jing Lihua after throwing a quick glance at Mo Liang.
The group of women behind her giggled.
"How shameless"
"It is only understandable. Su Liwei chased her away after all."
"Could she not even weight until a month after her wedding?"
"Such a wench. I pity Su Liwei for having a wife like her. He is so handsome and talented. Such a waste to have a woman like her who doesn’t even appreciate him."
Mo Liang was ready to snap at them any moment but Jing Lihua raised her arm and stopped him. Her eyes were cold. She had a calm smile on her face as she approached Su Lanfen.
"Sister Lanfen, here is your purse." Her voice was as sweet as ever.
The people surrounding them couldn’t help but get a soft spot for Jing Lihua in their hearts. Such a kind girl. To stay polite even after being insulted.
"Humph!" Su Lanfun didn’t like the overly warm response from Jing Lihua. Why didn’t she get angry at her?
Just as Su Lanfen reached out to grab her handbag, Jing Lihua let go of it. It hit the floor and all her stuff scattered around. Even her iPhone broke out and its screen cracked.
Su Lanfen’s face twisted in anger.
