Recover THE ARTIFACT stolen from my other self and collect the SOULS of the Three Fools that dared to use it so foolishly. Afterwards, you may enjoy your time on Faerun until I have need of you again, Bounty Hunter.

Ryder's orders echo through his head as he looks in the mirror for a moment longer until burning hellfire eyes return to sapphire blue. Then, he puts his shades back on, covering them up and making the ghostly reflection of a skull overlapping his head vanish. Sweeping back golden spiked hair, he lets out a low sigh.

Standing up, his hell-forged black leather armor stretches across a tall, broad-shouldered frame and powerful muscles. Not for the first time, he was reminded of the numerous benefits from accepting the deal he'd made. He especially liked that he got to look like this, instead of wasting away in that hospital bed and-

"Everyone! Form up!"

Turning, he makes his way over to Tav along with the other 'weirdoes' that she's collected so far. They've all finished looting everything, not nailed down by this point anyways. Tav beams at them all, the Tiefling Bard having her hands on her hips as she grins toothily.

"Get a good haul, you lot?"

Ryder snorts as a general sense of agreement rises from the group. It wasn't like he was going to Judge them all for a little bit of ransacking and rampaging. Sure, he might be the Devil's Bounty Hunter, but he at least knew how to stay professional. Besides, he was confident that if he just followed The Hero, she would lead him straight to his prey in due time.

Frankly, he had to hand it to the Boss Man… he never failed to send Ryder to some truly exotic worlds where he got to meet some really strange, interesting, or just plain crazy beings. Of course, every trip usually ended with him killing enough people to depopulate anywhere from a small town up to a small country. This particular job was so far better than most… and definitely better than his last. The less said about that job, the better… but suffice to say, he hadn't enjoyed roaming through an already-happened zombie apocalypse harvesting every Soul trapped in every undead creature.

That had been a punishment assignment from the Boss for a mistake on Ryder's part that didn't bear repeating. But this? So far, this felt like maybe the Boss Man felt like he'd gone overboard the first time around and was throwing Ryder a bone on his next job. Though that wasn't to say his kill count in this new world was particularly low by any means.

Already he'd killed some humanoid Cthulu-lite fuckers, their living brain pets, some imps, a devil lieutenant, a village's worth of goblins, some big magical spiders, and a combination of gnolls and hyenas. And hey, before the day was over, they would probably be sending these devil-worshipping evil paladins they'd just gotten done talking to back to Hell as well.

They would deserve it too, not because of their obviously evil alignment, but rather because of just how bad they were at actually hiding it. Even without his powers stirring, The Rider pounding in the back of his cursed skull… Ryder knew they were guilty on top of being damned. They hadn't even cleaned up after themselves! The notes scattered around the Tollhouse, along with the dead, were more than enough to contradict several aspects of their sob story.

Dead Men Tell No Tales didn't really apply when the bodies were still intact and their illustrious bardic leader had an amulet from that Withers guy (and wasn't HE suspicious) that allowed her to cast Speak with Dead unlimited times. Not that their resident warlock Wyll would bother listening to any of the mounting evidence that the 'devil' he'd been tasked with hunting down actually might not be guilty of any crimes.

And funnily enough, it wasn't like there were any remaining innocents left for this Karlach woman to rampage and kill anyways. Between the Goblins and everything else they'd fought out here so far, anyone who wasn't worthy of Justice was already back at the Druid Grove, hiding away and praying to whatever gods they worshipped that they wouldn't get kicked out.

Even if Karlach was the evil monster that Wyll seemed to think she was and those 'paladins' claimed, the only things she could possibly slaughter around these parts were deserving of it anyways.

Regardless, with Tav leading the way, they all trek down the hill towards Wyll's so-called 'devil'. As they go, the hellish chain whip at Ryder's waist, representing his 'pact weapon' as this world would call it, slithers and rattles, expressing its disagreement over letting the so obviously GUILTY go free. Reaching down, he pats the sentient expression of his power for a moment, letting it know that such a decision came with a pretty huge caveat. They were only letting them go free… for now.

Finally, they find Karlach resting on the other side of a log bridge of all things. The 'not a devil but actually a Tiefling' stiffens up at the sight of them all, her eyes widening as their group arrives on the other side of the bridge. Of course, Wyll wastes no time in pulling his sword and assuming a fencer's stance.

"Karlach of Avernus! You're far from your home… allow me to return you where you belong with the end of my blade, Devil!"

"What? I'm no devil… and I'm definitely not OF Avernus, thanks. Can we talk this out? Please? I don't want to fight you."

Tav, being who she is and perhaps recognizing that Karlach was a Tiefling just like her, brightens up at that. The Bard loves talking where possible, even if most of their encounters somehow devolve into extreme violence and brutality despite her honeyed words.

"Oh! You want to talk? I like that! Let's talk!"

Ryder mostly tunes them out to be honest, even as he notes the relief on Karlach's face at Tav stepping in to mediate between them. The only issue there is… Tav is kind of a sadistic little bitch truth be told. Her mediations never seem to work out. They almost always wind up killing whoever they talk to out here. And sure, maybe that's not Tav's fault… but at the same time, Ryder got the sense that the Bard, for all her love of talking, also reveled in the killing too. She was an interesting Hero, to say the least.

Still, in the end it doesn't matter. The Rider is all he needs for him to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Karlach is NOT GUILTY. That doesn't mean she isn't dangerous, however. Respecting her obvious prowess as a fighter, Ryder keeps a hand on his whip, ready to engage if something happens.

If a fight broke out, the first thing Karlach would do is take out that log bridge, sending both Tav and Wyll into the river and downstream. If she went for that, he could probably stop her by tying up her arm or axe from here with his whip and keep her off balance.

"I really don't think she's a Devil, Wyll! Look at her and look at me… we're both Tieflings, silly!"

Except, Tav is doing an excellent job this time. Almost as though when she puts her mind to it, or decides she likes someone, she's very capable of cooling a situation down. Wyll still doesn't look very convinced, but Ryder can tell that's because the man is having a hard time admitting that he's been tricked.

With a growl, Ryder finally injects himself into the situation, stomping forward and drawing the eyes of everyone to him and his strange appearance.

"She is Innocent."

The declaration reverbs through the air with power backed by The Rider's Judgement.

"The Devils have altered her and left their mark on her… but they do not rule her. If you insist on continuing this foolishness despite the evidence in front of you, I will be forced to step in. But then… does the Blade of the Frontier slay the innocent on obviously fake hearsay anyways?"

Wyll flinches back at the accusation and looks sickened for a moment before sheathing his sword and stepping back with a curse.

"I have been woefully tricked and lied to…"

Tav, meanwhile, gives Karlach a happy little handshake.

"Welcome to the team! Let's go kill those paladins who tried to trick us into murdering you, yeah?"

Karlach looks baffled… but hopeful as well as she shakes Tav's hand back and lets the Tiefling Bard lead her across the log bridge back to the rest of them. As they start making plans for how to deal with the so-called 'Paladins of Tyr' waiting to be dealt with back at the Tollhouse, Karlach approaches Ryder with a smile that he returns along with a nod of acknowledgment. Honestly, it's nice to look at someone at eye level for once instead of him having to crane his neck down for them.

"Hey Soldier, just wanted to say thanks for speaking up for me like you did. Been a long time since anyone went to bat for me like that… and now it's happened twice in one day, between you and the little bard."

Closer now, the power of The Rider can hear the grinding of her Infernal Engine crying out to him. It sounded like a wounded and abused animal, like a hurt but still loyal familiar just trying to help its mistress to the best of its limited capabilities. Setting that aside for the moment, Ryder just grunts.

"You're most welcome. Veterans of the Blood Wars should be able to count on one another and-!"

"Wait, you fought in the Blood Wars too?! Damn, no wonder my senses kept twigging you as the most dangerous one here! Shit, I thought it was just because you were so big and imposing!"

Ryder smirks over her excitement and reaches up to lower his shades, flaring the hellfire behind his eyes for a moment. As Karlach gapes, he shrugs.

"Not just that, but while our illustrious leader will probably suggest visiting Dammon back in the Grove to check on your engine, I'm fairly confident I can provide a far better solution."

Karlach's smile drops a bit and she grimaces as she squirms for a moment.

"Yeah, Soldier? Got a miracle for me in your pocket? Patron going to offer me a deal or some-!"

Suddenly, his hand lashes out and grabs her own. Karlach cries out, her body flaring up in flames as she tries to pull away… but when he neither burns nor screams in pain, she freezes in shock.

"You… y-you can touch me? You can touch me and not b-burn?"

Ryder can hear the hysteria barely held back in her quivering voice as Karlach tries not to break down right then and there. Taking hold of her other hand, he brings it to his face and presses it against his cheek. Her palm immediately flares up again, but Ryder shows little reaction as the power of The Rider swirls and writhes beneath his skin, protecting him from the heat.

Karlach releases a choked sob just from being able to feel his face and him holding her hand. Honestly, Ryder isn't sure who leans closer first, or which one of them actually initiates the first brief kiss. However, the second, much deeper kiss, is definitely a mutual one done by both of them, and their tongues swiftly get involved.

Honestly, they might have fucked on the ground right then and there if it wasn't for the voyeurs and some comments. Tav in particular cooing over them has them pulling apart in embarrassment and focusing on the task at hand. Namely, sending a certain group of trails back to the Hells.

Shortly after that, the Tollhouse is reduced to a burning wreck and the so-called Paladins of Tyr have been very thoroughly vanquished. At which point, Tav decides that it's late and time for them to make camp. As their motley band of weirdoes finds a nice spot and sets up their tents and bedrolls, Ryder can tell he has Karlach's full, undivided attention.

Gracing her with a compassionate smile, Ryder nods in her direction.

"Tonight, after dinner, I'll see about fixing your engine. Then, we can find out which one of us has the most stamina, yeah?"

Karlach perks up at that, and he can tell it's not just because of her engine either. A wicked grin spreads across the beautiful red Tiefling's face and she chuckles at his forwardness.

"I'd be happy to find that out Soldier. Very happy."

-x-X-x-

Across the apocalyptic landscape of Hell, the Ghost Rider drives his infernal chopper. All the while, hellish laughter leaves his skeletal maw as a trail of hellfire explodes into being in his wake… followed by a chained devil pulled along behind his ride and screaming in pain as his body is slowly but surely shredded by the unforgiving rocks and-

"Soldier!"

Karlach's slightly concerned, sharp voice demands Ryder's attention and snaps him out of the momentary fantasy. Blinking, he focuses back on the matter at hand… specifically, the beautiful beefy red Tiefling right in front of him, as well as the exposed infernal engine shoved haphazardly between her rack.

"… You back with me now? Cause you got that look in your eyes I most associate with a devil about to turn someone's insides into their outsides… and make sure they stay breathing all the while."

Huh. Not a half bad idea. Planting a closed lip smile on his face, Ryder tries calmly to explain. Tries being the key word there.

"Ah, no worries. Just imagining paying a visit to whoever the completely inexcusable asswipe of a being was that installed this garbage inside of you."

Flushing a bit and trying to hide the small smile that worms its way onto her face, Karlach wiggles atop the stone altar they were currently using as an operating table. Then, she shrugs helplessly.

"Eh… kind of expected. They said this was the prototype after all, so I-!"

Her calm acceptance of this shit situation is silenced by him placing a finger on her lips and shaking his head.

"Oh no. No, no, no. Whoever told you that LIED to you, Karlach. This is not a prototype. This is not a 'proof of concept. This is what happens when you STEAL the plans for a masterpiece without any fucking idea what the fuck you're doing. This is what happens when you can't read those plans right, nor have the skills, materials, or experience to make it. THIS, Karlach, is what happens when you can't or won't admit to the fact that you're in over your head and in your desperation, make something far, FAR more inferior than the original. Something that should never have even left the workshop! The only REASON for this THING in your chest to continue to exist is as an ABJECT LESSON on all the ways NOT to make an Infernal Engine!"

He's ranting and knows he's ranting. Also, if Karlach is paying attention at all, she'll probably have just noticed he didn't need to take a breath for the entirety of that, which probably shouldn't have been possible. Alas, it couldn't be helped. Working for HIS Mephisto, Ryder had become somewhat used to a certain level of quality and competence.

Sure, his Boss was the Devil, but that didn't excuse negligence. Those who couldn't reach a certain level of quality and sustain it tended not to be allowed to continue existing for long. Boss Man had… exacting standards.

Luckily, Karlach was paying more attention to his words rather than the way they were spilling out of his mouth at a nonstop rate for a few minutes there. Brow furrowing, she bites her lower lip for a moment as she glances down at her exposed chest.

"… Does that mean you can't fix it without more materials or something, Soldier? Eh… kind of already knew that Zariel shoved the first one they made into me and had no plan to ever give me anything better. So I guess it doesn't really matter whether it's a prototype, proof of concept, or just a failed piece of junk. If you can't help, just let me know now so I don't get my hopes up too much higher."

Ryder blinks at that, realizing Karlach took his ranting the wrong way. The red Tiefling Barbarian is already prepared for disappointment and looks ready to accept that the damage or the failings of her garbage Infernal Engine are too great, or his power is too insufficient.

"Huh? Oh… no. No, I've got plenty of power at my disposal. I can fix it, Karlach. Sorry if I made it seem like I couldn't, just hate that you had to suffer with such an awful, downright useless piece of junk inside of you all these years."

Putting his fingers together, he bends them back and loudly pops them while giving her a grin.

"Just lie back, remain calm, and enjoy the show."

He swings his head from side to side for good measure as well, making Karlach give him an amused glance even as she does as she's told. Finally, Ryder eases up control over his body and allows The Rider to take control. With a rush of heat from within, his skin reddens… and then bursts into flames that instantly consume all visible flesh.

What's left behind is a flaming skeleton clad in hellish black leather armor. Karlach, to her credit, blinks owlishly but doesn't freak out.

"Whoa! And I thought I was burning up, Soldier! You're just feel of surprises, aren't you?"

The Rider rolls his shoulders for a moment before letting his jaw drop a few times with the crackling of a skeletal laugh. Fixing Karlach with his empty eye sockets, he still manages to give off 'suave' even without the ability to wink at her.

"Still smokin' hot though, babe."

Karlach huffs out a laugh at that, before going still as his burning boney fingers reach out and close around her Infernal Engine. The Tiefling watches on in silence as Hellfire snakes down the bones of his arm all the way to his fingertips, before finally leaping into the Engine itself.

She cries out a moment later as her back arches, sobbing molten streams of tears even while the Infernal Engine inside of her is transformed. Bringing his second arm forward, The Rider grasps hold of the thing with that hand too and begins applying a second stream of Hellfire to accentuate the first.

Karlach grips his arms tightly as the Hellfire separates into streams, flowing out from the transformed Engine down throughout the rest of her body before venting out of her extremities and flesh just like it did back at the Tollhouse when she got REALLY angry. Except…

"Ah! Ha… it… it doesn't hurt! F-For the first time in ten fucking years, it doesn't hurt!"

It obviously hurts a little bit, given all the screaming and crying. But he knows what she means. Karlach's joyful tone is music to his ears truth be told, and he basks in the Tiefling's happiness as she revels at not being in the same state of constant pain as she had been for the last decade and some change.

When The Rider finally pulls his hands away, the Infernal Engine is no longer grinding and screeching like a wounded abused beast. It's purring like it should now, rumbling away in Karlach's chest. Instead of taking from her, instead of lashing out at her like all abused animals do, it works in harmony with the rest of her body… as it should have all along.

With some extra power left over, The Rider reaches up on something of a whim and grasps the end of her broken horn with a flaming set of bone fingers. There, he forms a dark metallic horn cap out of hellmetal, one that matches her unbroken horn perfectly and fuses with the bone stump of her broken horn permanently.

That done, The Rider steps back and admires his much improved work, even as Karlach's Infernal Engine quietly emits a rumbling purr. Slowly, control is returned to the host, flames dying down and flesh regrowing all across his body as his skeleton is once more… clothed.

Ryder is just barely back in control before he grabs the first of several prepared pitchers of water from nearby and dumps it all over his own head. Steam bursts out on contact even as he picks up the next pitcher and guzzles it down. Again and again he reaches until there are no more pitchers left, using the final one on his exposed upper body after pulling open his armor.

Before he can do anything else, Karlach's hands are suddenly on his open leather jacket… and her mouth is suddenly on his mouth, kissing him hungrily. Ryder kisses her back of course, not at all minding the contact… in fact, he's quite enjoying the way she's kissing him so deeply and hungrily. Karlach positively devours his mouth for what feels like an eternity, and Ryder happily returns the favor.

When they finally pull apart for air, Karlach's eyes are hooded and filled with lust beyond imagining.

"Earlier you suggested we find out which of us has the most stamina, Soldier. Tell me you weren't talking about arm wrestling or something dumb like that."

Chucking, Ryder shakes his head.

"I wasn't talking about arm wrestling or something dumb like that."

Eyes lighting up, Karlach seems to take that as tacit permission, approval, and consent. Which to be fair… it very much is. Still, Ryder can't help but grunt a little in surprise when the Tiefling abruptly pulls him up onto the altar and slams him down atop it, climbing aboard right then and there.

What remains of their clothing goes flying in short order even as they go back to making out. Their hands wander over each other's bodies as more and more of their respective flesh is revealed, until finally… Karlach's hand closes around Ryder's cock, squeezing his throbbing meat aggressively.

Pulling back from his mouth again with a gasp, Karlach looks down at his dick, biting her lower lip.

"… Been a long time for me, j-just so you know. Not a virgin or anything… but I might as well be. So I get it if you don't want-mmph!"

Reaching up and grabbing her by a horn, Ryder pulls Karlach back down into another kiss to silence her. Then, when they break apart, he scoffs.

"Karlach… I want you to do exactly what you want to do right now. I want you to take my big fat cock and stuff it inside of your sexy, fit cunt. I want you to ride me so hard our bones shake. I want you to cum for me screaming and squealing my name, and to make me cum as well and fill you to the brim. THAT is what I want from you right now."

Karlach stares at him with wide eyes for a moment before letting out a huff of disbelieving laughter.

"Certainly a little full of yourself, aren't you Soldier?"

Ryder just grins back.

"Not as full of me as you're about to be."

Karlach herself makes good on his promise by lifting her body up and impaling herself on his throbbing mast a moment later. His rock hard cock slides up inside of her molten hot pussy as she sinks down his length, and Ryder groans in appreciation of the heat and the tight feel, even as his hands grip Karlach's hips roughly.

"Fuuuck Soldier… you're too good to me. C-Can't believe I was lucky enough to meet you."

Snorting derisively, Ryder thrusts up into Karlach from below, causing her to yelp at the sudden bounce.

"We haven't even started yet, woman. Or are you already ready to concede defeat?"

That finally brings a challenging glint to Karlach's eyes. She grins wickedly and plants her hands on his bare chest, even as she wiggles her hips like a cat who's about to pounce. A BIG cat.

"Not on your life, Soldier!"

Instead of pouncing in the conventional way, Karlach begins to ride him. Of course, calling it 'riding' might be a little bit of a… misnomer. It's more accurate to say that Karlach slams herself down onto his cock repeatedly over and over again with not just bruising, not just bone shattering, but full on ROCK shattering force.

… Ryder gives as good as he's getting, of course. He's the motherfucking Ghost Rider after all. If something as tame as a really horny, really pent up Tiefling Barbarian powered by a new and improved Super Infernal Engine was enough to break HIS hips… well, he wouldn't be worthy of serving Boss Man anymore, now would he?

SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!

With a growl and a grunt, Ryder thrusts up into Karlach again and again, meeting every quaking downward smash she delivers with his own upwards motions. He matches her strength for strength, speed for speed, and stamina for stamina. They fuck like there's no tomorrow, which in their line of work, could always be the case. But more than that… they fuck like there's nobody else in all of existence, nobody else in the whole of the galaxy… except for the two of them.

Ryder gives as good as he gets. And he can take it from Karlach as well as dish it out. The stone altar they're fucking on however… well, that's a different story.

C-CRASH!

One would expect a big fucking block of stone to be able to withstand a bit of abuse. It wasn't like it was a wooden table or a bed frame or anything like that. Except… it turned out the stone altar had a hidden compartment in it. So it was hollow. Still… stone and all that. Said compartment must have remained undiscovered for CENTURIES.

Karlach and Ryder only find it when they break the stone altar right in half and come down to land on a literal pile of gold, jewels, and other precious metals. Such things don't make for a very comfortable 'bed' as they dig into Ryder's back, but he doesn't mind truth be told. He can dig a little pain with his pleasure, actually.

However, Karlach can't help noticing and begins to slow down, her brow furrowing in worry. Before he can tell her to keep going though, they're interrupted.

"GUYS! What's going on in… here… oh."

Looking over, Ryder and Karlach stare at Tav and the rest of the motley crew that the Tiefling Bard has assembled. Admittedly, he'd told them not to worry if they heard screaming given what he and Karlach were about to do. Then, the two of them had gone off a bit from camp and found this stone altar to make use of.

Still, just because they didn't come running for the screaming didn't mean they wouldn't come running when it probably sounded like a damn mountain giant had stumbled across them and was smashing apart the area to try and get to them.

For a long moment, Ryder stares at Tav and the others. Tav and the others stare back. Finally, Ryder raises an eyebrow.

"We're not done. So unless you want a show, I suggest you all fuck off."

Tav gapes and so do most of the others. Well, except Lae'zel. She looks intrigued. And Shadowheart tries to look offended and disgusted, but she also looks intrigued. Gale, meanwhile, protests.

"You seem to have landed on a hidden cache my friend! There might be a magic item or two in that pile, or maybe even a wizard's spell book or-!"

Rather than respond with words, Ryder grips Karlach's hips, lifts her halfway up his cock… and slams her back down. All while maintaining eye contact with Gale, the magic eating freak. The somewhat snooty wizard goes bright red. But it's not until Ryder does it again that he finally turns and leaves.

Karlach, meanwhile, decides the whole situation is fucking hilarious and lets out a bout of moaning laughter as she begins to ride him in earnest again.

"Y-You all h-heard him, ladies and g-gents! We're not DONE y-yet! In f-fact… we're just getting STARTED!"

Karlach's wanton moaning scares the rest of them away… except for those who surreptitiously stick around to continue watching from around corners and what not. But Ryder pays them no mind, focusing entirely on the matter at hand in this moment. Specifically, on making Karlach cum her brains out all over his big fat cock again and again and again.

She's right, after all. They're just getting started… and given his mission, his very reason for being on Faerun in the first place, Ryder can't exactly say how long the good times can possibly last.

Best to find your moments of fun and pleasure where you can in his experience. Being the Ghost Rider is no one's idea of a good time. But someone has to do it. And that someone… is him.
