Chapter 60 Side Quest Part 2: The Personal Errands
On December 30th, 2023, Michael found himself waking up earlier than usual, the anticipation of the day propelling him out of bed with a sense of purpose. After splashing cold water on his face to dispel the remnants of sleep, he embarked on his morning routine, a regimented sequence of exercises designed to keep him physically and mentally sharp. Following his workout, Michael made his way to the kitchen, where he prepared a healthy breakfast. A bread and scrambled egg, accompanied by a cup of coffee. As he ate, Michael reviewed his agenda for the day. The main item was to continue his deep dive into the academic resources he had found online and to buy a present for his mother.
He had been thinking of gifting his mother for a while, and there was one perfect gift that he could give to her. What do you mean? He looked around and the answer was there. Michael would buy his mother a house. That's right! They had been living in this house for decades and paid a lot of rental fees over the years, and it was time for a change. Michael knew this would be a significant and meaningful gift for his mother, one that would provide her with security and happiness for years to come.
After finishing his breakfast, Michael sat down at his computer to begin his research on available properties. He focused on areas that were far from urban cities. Because his mother would often say that if she wanted a house, she'd prefer it to be in the countryside, near the mountains where the air was fresh and the surroundings peaceful. He started by visiting real estate websites, filtering options based on location, price range, and specific features his mother had mentioned in passing conversations. She had always dreamed of a cozy home with a spacious garden where she could tend to her plants, a modern kitchen where she could cook her famous dishes and a comfortable living area where the family could gather and make memories.
As Michael sifted through listings, he bookmarked several promising properties. He paid close attention to the details, making sure each home had a good balance of comfort and practicality. He planned to schedule viewings for the most suitable options next year. That's right, next year, because it's a holiday today and there'd be no real estate agents available to assist him until after the New Year. This delay, however, didn't deter him; it gave him more time to ensure his choice was perfect.
Of course, a house wouldn't be enough, he wanted his mother to have a steady stream of income through business. Michael thought of giving her mother a convenience store, something she had always talked about with a twinkle in her eye but never pursued due to financial constraints and life's unending demands. This would not only fulfill one of her dreams but also provide her with a project to focus on, something she could grow and develop, a source of pride and independence.
Michael spent time researching how to start a convenience store, the initial investment needed, potential locations near their new home, and the legalities involved in setting up a small business. He made notes on suppliers, inventory management, and marketing strategies to attract customers in a countryside setting. His aim was to have a plan ready to present to his mother once they moved into their new home, a surprise to accompany the keys to the house. As he was doing that, he felt his heart fluttering because he knew this was more than just a gift; it was a new beginning for both of them. He imagined the look on his mother's face when she would see the house for the first time. He pictured her walking through her new garden, planning where each plant would go, and the countless family dinners they would have in the new dining area. It motivated him to make sure every detail was perfect.
After hours of research and planning, Michael compiled a comprehensive business plan for the convenience store. He included a budget, potential revenue streams, and a step-by-step process for setting up the store. He researched the local demand for such a store in the countryside, identifying what products would be most needed by the community there. He considered everything from the layout of the store to the best suppliers for local and organic products that would appeal to the residents. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
To make this dream a reality, Michael knew he would need to involve professionals. He listed down potential contacts: a real estate agent to help with the house purchase, a lawyer for the business setup, and a financial advisor to ensure that the investment would be sound and sustainable. He planned to reach out to them after the holiday season when businesses would resume their normal operations.
After that, it was time to do his own thing, that is increasing the master points of his core sciences.
He read, and read, and read until Geology, Oceanography, Astronomy, Biology, and Chemistry became all level 2.
He finished all that within the day. Speaking of the day, it's already eight o'clock in the evening. His mother would arrive by nine o'clock. One thing that he needed to do was to get his driver's license so he could drive his car. He researched it, and the thing he needed was to apply for a theoretical driving course that would allow him to get a student permit. Once he has the student permit, he can now drive a vehicle under the supervision of a licensed driver, and also allow him to enroll in driving schools. He must be in possession of the student permit for at least a month and have finished the driving course of any driving school he chose to attend. After that, he'll have his own non-professional driver's license.
But it's a month? That's a long time for him. Fortunately, there is a faster way of getting a driver's license without going all through that, and that is where the fixers come into play. Michael had heard of "fixers" who could expedite the process of obtaining a driver's license, bypassing the usual bureaucratic hurdles. He wanted to drive his vehicle so much that he was considering hiring a fixer. But how will he learn to drive? Well, he has a technological system that enhances his cognitive abilities. It'd be no different from learning any other skill quickly. Besides, it's an automatic transmission car. It's going to be like riding a bump car.
"Okay…fixers it is."
