Building a Business Empire with my Technological System

Chapter 133: New Enterprise?

"Wait…seriously? You are going to start a transportation company?" Psylemon repeated, not believing what he just heard.

"Shh…" Michael said. "Lower your voice down, you are attracting attention."

Psylemon glanced around and noticed a few patrons turning their heads towards them, curiosity evident in their expressions. He quickly lowered his voice, leaning in closer across the table.

"Okay, okay, but are you serious? How are you planning to start a transportation company? And why now?"

Michael leaned back, a thoughtful look on his face. "Well, after hearing about your father's situation and the whole jeepney phase-out, I started thinking. There's an opportunity here not just to create a business but to actually make a difference.

You see, most of the modern buses are imported from other countries, and local companies were either shunned or simply couldn't compete due to the high costs of innovation and production. However I, with unlimited resources, can do it. Aside from the fact that I already have a design on my mind, it's only a matter of manufacturing it in time.

For that, I have to make a phone call, you be silent for a moment because I will be talking to my secretary."

"Okay…going silent," Psylemon said with a salute.

Michael dialed the number of Juliet and waited patiently for the call to connect. After a couple of rings, Juliet picked up the phone.

"Good evening, Michael. What's the matter?" Juliet asked, ready to jot down any instructions Michael might have for her.

"Juliet, I need you to do something important for me," Michael started, getting straight to the point. "I want you to gather all the information you can on how to start a transportation company in the Philippines. I need to know everything – the qualifications, requirements, how to obtain a franchise, the regulatory framework, everything."

There was a brief pause on the other end as Juliet processed the request. "Understood, Michael. Do you have a specific focus?"

"Modern jeeps," Michael replied, clarifying his intention. "I'm particularly interested in launching a fleet of electric jeeps that could serve as a sustainable alternative to the traditional jeepneys facing phase-out. I believe we can offer a solution that's both environmentally friendly and economically viable for the drivers."

"Very well, Mr. Reyes. I'll start researching immediately," Juliet confirmed. "Given the complexity and the potential regulatory hurdles, this might take some time. I'll reach out to the officials in the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for insights on compliance and other requirements."

"Thank you, Juliet. Keep me updated on your progress, and don't hesitate to utilize any resources you need. This project is a priority," Michael emphasized.

"Though I might ask sir, why are you doing this? You are going to start your transportation company out of nowhere. Is there something more to this?" Juliet inquired, her curiosity piqued by Michael's sudden interest in the transportation sector.

Michael paused for a moment, considering how much to share. "It's personal, Juliet. Just do what I told you okay?"

"Okay, Mr. Reyes," Juliet replied, sensing the firmness in Michael's tone and deciding not to pry further. "I'll get started right away and will keep you informed of my findings. Is there anything else you need from me at the moment?"

"No, that's all for now. Thanks, Juliet. Your assistance is invaluable," Michael said appreciatively before ending the call. He turned his attention back to Psylemon, who had been silently listening.

"Sorry about that, Psylemon. Where were we?" Michael asked, ready to dive back into their discussion.

Psylemon, still slightly taken aback by the sudden turn of events, shook his head in amazement. "No, it's okay. I'm just... impressed, and a bit shocked, I guess. You're really going through with this, aren't you?"

Michael nodded. "Yes, I am. It's not going to be easy, and I'm sure there will be plenty of obstacles along the way. But it feels right, and it's something I believe can make a real difference."

"You always think that you are going to make a difference whenever you start a business," Psylemon noted.

"Yes…" Michael simply answered.

Just then, a waitress approached their table with two plates in hand, carefully placing the grilled chicken with rice in front of Psylemon and the beef stew in front of Michael.

"Here you go, gentlemen. Enjoy your meal!" she said with a cheerful smile before moving on to attend to other customers.

The aroma of the food filled the air around them, momentarily diverting their attention from the conversation. Psylemon took a moment to savor the scent of his dish before looking back at Michael. "You know, Michael, this is why I like coming here with you. No matter how big your plans are or how busy you get, you never forget the simple pleasures. Like enjoying a good meal at our favorite diner."

Michael smiled, picking up his spoon. "It's the small moments like these that keep us grounded, Psylemon. Remembering where we came from and what truly matters. Besides, I can't tackle the big challenges on an empty stomach."

They both laughed, breaking the tension that had built up earlier. As they began to eat, the conversation shifted to lighter topics – shared memories, plans for the upcoming holiday season, and the latest gossip from their university. For a while, they were just two friends enjoying each other's company.

One hour later, they have to say goodbye to one another.

"Okay…Psylemon, send me the tuition bill and I will pay for it," Michael said, standing up from the table and preparing to leave. "And don't worry about the transportation company. I'll keep you updated on our progress. Who knows? Maybe your dad will be one of our first drivers."

Psylemon nodded, a mix of gratitude and hope shining in his eyes. "Thank you, Michael. You have no idea how much this means to us."

"I have some idea," Michael replied with a warm smile. "And remember, we're in this together. If there's anything you need or any way you can help, just let me know."

"I will. And Michael?" Psylemon added as they walked toward the exit. "Good luck. I know you're going to make this work. You always do."

Two hours later, in his office, Michael stood in front, facing Juliet.

"So…what do we need?"

"It's going to be a lot, sir, but are you ready to hear them all? We can talk about this tomorrow if you want to," Juliet said.

"No, I want to know now," Michael said.
