Chapter 41: 41 : Frozen Garden [ Bonus Chapter ]
In the heart of Bridgemoor City, there stood a grand and stunning estate. The estate was massive, with numerous mansions, castles, small hills, waterfalls, lakes, ponds, colorful flowers, beautiful statues, and fountains spread throughout.
This estate was located right in the center of Bridgemoor City and served as the residence of the most prominent clan in the city, the Netherfrost Clan.
The Netherfrost Clan's residence was not part of the Edel District; instead, they occupied a large territory right in the heart of the city.
The center of their residence was filled with grand mansions and castles, exuding luxury and elegance unlike any other place in the estate.
At the very center of the Netherfrost Clan residence, in a large white mansion inside a a beautiful garden, a conversation was taking place.
A middle-aged man was standing respectfully behind a beautiful young girl and was speaking to the young beautiful girl, who was sitting on a swing.
These two people are naturally Seraphine Netherfrost and Houston.
"Are you sure about the banquet you want to hold at the Origin Restaurant, Young Miss?" Houston asked.
"Yeah, why? Is something wrong, Houston?" Seraphine replied with a smile.
The only difference was that Seraphine's black hair had turned pure white, and a white snowflake symbol adorned the center of her forehead, adding a touch of cold charm to her beauty.
"I don't know, but wouldn't it be better to host it in the clan?" Houston asked, looking confused.
Seraphine stood up from the swing and waved her hand. "Houston, I don't know why I decided to host it at the Origin Restaurant. At first, I wanted to host it in the clan, but let's not talk about it anymore."
Houston nodded and looked at Seraphine. "But Young Miss, do you think the Origin Restaurant can handle it?"
"That's not my problem," Seraphine said with a smile. "The owner of the Origin Restaurant said he can handle it, so I think he has the strength to deal with it."
"But Young Miss, I'm quite worried," Houston said, a look of concern in his eyes.
Seraphine chuckled. "You're worried that some of the guests won't behave properly."
Houston nodded. "You know, not many of the Noble Families have a favorable impression of us. There have been a few skirmishes between us and them in the past few years. Even though we may be the ruling power in the City, not many people approve of us and have been quite restless lately."
Seraphine's eyes narrowed slightly. "Looks like some people's necks are getting itchy again. Have they forgotten what happened five years ago?"
Houston's face changed slightly at Seraphine's words. He still remembered what happened five years ago, and the scene was still fresh in his mind, the scene at that time was extremely....
He shook his head, not wanting to think about it.
"Young Miss, I don't know what the other clans are up to, but I think it's not something good," Houston said. "I've heard that the Main Clan in the Capital is also facing some serious problems."
Seraphine nodded. "I heard that the Main Clan's situation in the Royal Court is not looking good. It's said that they have suffered some recent losses."
"It's more than that," Houston continued. "Since you were in the academy, you may not have heard, but one of the main Clan's Tier 5 Grandmaster Knights was assassinated."
Seraphine's eyes widened slightly. "That happened? Why didn't I hear about it?"
"When it happened, they sealed off the news, so not many people know about it. And when you came out of the academy, you didn't visit the main Clan, you came directly here, so you didn't hear about it " Houston explained.
Seraphine Netherfrost's eyes flashed coldly as a chilly wind swept through the garden, causing even Houston to shiver.
"I think someone or something is targeting the clan. But that's not all - I also suspect that some of the clans here are being supported by someone behind the scenes. That's why we've been facing so many difficulties recently," Houston said, looking worried.
Seraphine nodded in understanding. "So that's why Father called me back. Our situation in Bridgemoor City isn't looking good," she said with a concerned expression.
Houston also nodded in agreement.
" Young Miss, I've also heard that the Adventure Association is also getting involved in the situation, which has made things more complicated," Houston added.
"Aren't they supposed to be neutral? Why are they getting involved in the clans' business?" Seraphine asked, looking puzzled.
"I don't know. The Adventure Association has always been neutral, but I don't understand why they are suddenly getting involved," Houston sighed.
"This is really complicated," Seraphine shook her head.
"If only grandfather were here, none of these clans would dare to go against us. And now the Adventure Association is getting involved. Do they think they can bully us like this?" She added with a cold look, a hint of anger in her eyes.
"I don't know where Grandfather went. He's been missing for decades, and there hasn't been any news about him. If not for that, Father wouldn't be so pensive," Seraphine added with a worried look on her face.
Houston glanced at Seraphine and shook his head. "Don't worry, young miss. Maybe the previous patriarch went to search for opportunities to make a breakthrough," he reassured her.
"I hope so," Seraphine Netherfrost muttered quietly.
"But Houston, there's something I don't understand," Seraphine turned and looked at Houston.
"What is it, Young Miss?" Houston asked.
"Well, I've been thinking. Why is the clan so keen on running Brigdemoor City? I mean, look. Bridgemoor City is located far away from the Capital City, almost at the border of the Kingdom. There are no powerful experts, the Mana density here is very thin, the resources are limited, and we have to waste a lot of manpower defending the City every year from Magical Beasts.
The only notable place is the Atmos Forest. Apart from that, I can't see anything worthy of us fighting with the other clans over such a desolate City like Bridgemoor," Seraphine asked with confusion.
Houston's face changed slightly when he looked at Seraphine.
"Houston, you know something, right? Tell me," she asked anxiously.
"Forgive me, Young Miss, but I can't tell you. It's a clan secret, and I can't violate the clan rules. You know the punishment for violating the rules," Houston bowed and said apologetically.
Seraphine's expression eased. She knew she couldn't force Houston.
"It's okay. I'll find out sooner or later," she waved her hand.
Houston straightened his back and heaved a sigh of relief. He was afraid Seraphine would press him and force him to reveal it.
"Don't worry, Young Miss. I'm sure the patriarch will tell you when he's ready," Houston smiled.
"But for now, we need to concentrate on the current situation of the clan. I'm sure in three days, there will be some troublemakers causing problems," Houston said.
Seraphine gave a cold smile as she narrowed her eyes. "If some people don't know their place and dare to cause trouble, I don't mind teaching them a lesson."
Houston just shook his head, feeling concerned. He wasn't worried about Seraphine, but rather about those arrogant and pretentious young masters who couldn't see the situation clearly and might end up offending her.
Although Seraphine may seem nice and always have a smile on her face, Houston knows how ruthless she truly is. She is simply a psychopath. Remembering a few of the ruthless things Seraphine has done, Houston shivered.
"I really hope those clans better behave themselves or I won't mind bathing Brigdemoor city in blood, I'll refresh my their of memories of what went down five years ago," Seraphine declared, her snowflake-shaped birthmark seeming to shimmer as she exuded an aura of danger.
"And if I manage to uncover who's been causing all this chaos for the past few years, I'll make sure they'll wish they were never born."
"Damn, if only I were more powerful right now, I could have just killed anyone who dared to go against the clan," Seraphine muttered through gritted teeth.
" But..." She suddenly smiled and stretched out her hand. In her palm sat a small, delicate crystal snowflake with streams of water flowing up and down in a mesmerizing pattern.
What was even more peculiar was that the space around the snowflake seemed to slightly twist as the water circulated, emitting a palpable aura.
Houston's expression turned grave as he gazed at the snowflake,he sensed a dangerous energy emanating from it.
" But it won't be long before I completely crush anything that stands in my way ". With a cold smile, she closed her hand, allowing the small crystal snowflake to enter her body.
Turning around, she walked away with Houston following closely behind.
Anyone observing the garden at this moment would have noticed that the entire garden had been completely frozen, including the beautiful butterflies, ponds and flowers.
The setting sun cast a mesmerizing glow over the frozen garden, creating a picturesque and captivating scene.
