Chapter 12: Mahasayer
Chapter 12: Mahasayer
After checking everything out, Wrik walked out of the hall. He noticed Davin had a bitter expression on his face while listening to Missthe emerald-eyed. He still didn't know the name of her.
"I have a few questions as well," he said to the emerald-eyed girlwho looked at him with an interest in her eyes. "I didn't know much about the Mahasayer, so I thought I should ask you."
"Well, what you want to know?" The girl nodded. "Wait, your eyesthey look normal."
"Really," Wrik was astonished; it was a surprise to him. And then he found that his head was not hurting at all. He opened his status window to check and confirmed that his [Eye of Insights] was inactive; no, more like on standby. He could trigger it at will. But he was glad to know his eyes turned back to normal.
"Maybe because it's on passive," Wrik said, as he activated the [Eye of Insights]. A familiar pain flooded his head the very moment he activated it, but it wasn't like the first like. He could endure the pain better now. He gave the two of them a clear look of his eyes before asking. "Are there some changes now?"
"Yeah, it's as if your eyes are lightened with silver light," Davin answered looking at his eyes.
"And it formed into a silver ring around your pupil." The emerald-eyed girl commented. She then smiled. "It looks quite good on you."
"How about now?" He asked, deactivating his innate ability.
"It's disappearing," Davin noted. "And now it's gone."
"Thanks," Wrik nodded. So now, the silver ring only appeared while using the ability. He gave a sigh of relief. It was better than before. He was glad that there's no unique ring in his eyes all the time. It might have looked awe-inspiring to have an unusual element in the eye, but he did not approve of leaving something like that in his eye. It was too eye-catching for him. Who knows about the ill intention of others?
"Don't worry much about it, it's great that you have an innate ability. Not even one percent of the climbers have something like that, so you can guess how valuable these abilities are." The only girl in the group spoke out. She was not even a bit envious or jealous of his ability, unlike Davinwho seemed a bit jealous.
Wrik nodded. There were two types of ability: one that each person was born with and the other that could be comprehended or integrated. Each one was rarer than the other, the more unique it was. He didn't ponder on it more and came back to the main topic. "As I was saying, I have a few doubts about the so-called 'Mahasayer' and stuff."
"So, what you don't understand?"
"Well," Wrik hesitated. "How about you give an introduction about the Mahasayer?"
The dark-haired girl clicked her tongue. A playful glitter appeared in her clear emerald eyes. "The one who can use Maha mana appropriately is known as Mahasayer."
"Thank you, but I know that." he shook his head. But didn't give up, he asked again, this time with more courtesy and specificity. "Why don't you introduce some of their abilities and limitations, what they can achieve and what they can't? Pretty please."
"Some say, they can achieve anything.. .but I do not follow this group of people," she said as she looked into his eyes intensely. "To me, there are limitations in them, and there's a lot of them. Let's not talk about the limitations first. Strength comes first, then limitations. Do you know anything about the Omega abilities?"
"Nothing much, as it's different from skills. The skill could be learned but abilities are more like.. . Gifts?" he pondered. "I know some about their levelling and usage. In my status, it looks like I can only have four Omega abilities."
"Yes, there's a limit to the number of abilities one user can have, though I heard it could be raised through some means. But as far as I'm concerned, it's damn hard. So, let's talk about the common abilities first: Maha mana applications take up one slot as it is the base of all abilities. And then came innate abilities. Now you have two slots left."
Wrik nodded. He remembered seeing her using mists to clean up the hall yesterday. "Your mists? Is it one of your abilities?"
"You could say that, but it's a bit complicated." She didn't explain that part. "There are many types of abilities to choose from, but it's difficult to master any type of Omega abilities. Take my mist as an example; it's the element I have the highest affinity with."
"So, choose the one that you have the highest affinity with." Wrik nodded in comprehension, yet another question came to his mind. "How do we know about the element we have an affinity with, is there some tests or like it through some other means?"
"There are tests. Wait, you didn't test yours before coming here?" Davin, who was silent the whole time, asked out.
In response, Wrik could only shrug. He didn't even know that there's a test for this.
"Well, then you have to wait till the Trial finishes."
Wrik didn't have much problem in that. He was already struggling in keeping up his [Eye of Insights], much less taking another one. Then he asked one of the questions he was currently anxious about. "And the Class I know what it is, but how can we gain a Class?"
Davin looked appalled at that subject as well. Classthe dividing line between different types of Mahasayer. There were many types of classes, from general to rarer ones. From Mage to Knights, Archer to Healer, Artisan to Engineer.
"It's easy," the emerald-eyed girl said. "I mean, it's an easy answer. There are mainly three ways: one is the rewards from Tower, or you can get it from some ancient ruins or dungeonif your luck is in favour."
"And the third?"
"The third is the simplest if you have enough capital, that is. There's someplace that sells it, I heard." She continued. "Are all your doubts clear? If not, ask me later, I have.. ."
"One last question." Wrik didn't let her finish. He looked straight at the dark-haired girl, then asked in his most serious tone. "When will you tell me your name?"
"That depends."
"On?" He pushed.
"Many things: your sincerity, virtue, and your integrity." She paused for a second, then snickered out a few of her whites. "But the most will depend on my mood."
Sincerity, virtue, integrity. These were some powerful words. At most, he could achieve the sincerity part well.
"How about giving me a little leeway, I can't just call you Miss." He made the pitiful look Katrin made when he scolded her. He heard women can't resist it. "Please."
"Stop making that weird face," she laughed out. "I can't resist laughing seeing that."
Wrik's lips twitched. Now he remembered that he's not as cute as Kathrin. He looked at Davin to noticethe grin on his lips. 'Shit! What type of expression did I make?'
"So, what are our plans for today?" He asked out to change the topic.
"Well, I'll give you a hint about my name seeing your cute side," she said, with a smile on her lips. "It starts with the letter 'T', try guessing the other four."
'So, I did have some charisma after all; Katrin would be proud,' he mused shamelessly. Would it work for another time for another letter? He looked at her and shook his head. 'Guess not.' Well, he got 'T' and needed four more to complete. He closed his eyes and started to calculate. And he sighed immediatelyit was a dead end. It had over millions of combinations with the other letters.
"Don't tell me you're calculating the letter of combinations?" Her grin broadened seeing his pondering look.
"Well, it is the only thing I can do, Miss Tough nut to crack," he flushed. "So what are our plans for today?"
He was fortunate she didn't press on that matter anymore. "Well, let's start with examining the surroundings and collecting information. It's only day two; so, no pressure."
