Chapter 55: Otherworlders pt. 1
After the servers were closed for the day many things began taking place in BLO all at once.
The first thing to occur was the alignment of the time dilation, one to one time.
The second was the player characters who had been around for almost a week s im mply vanished.
The third was a sudden shift in mana density across the world.
In different regions of the world various leaders began to discuss the impact of the otherworlders.
In certain regions the native death toll was as high as the mid thousands while in other places it was far more.
Theft was a very commonly reported crime and the world leaders could see every single statistic through the help of the system.
In this world the system recognized world leaders by giving them access to a unique function, the region function.
The region function showed many details from citizen satisfaction average to crime level but this was not something that made the leaders omnipresent, in fact many regions suffered from this functions existence due to corrupt leaders.
The system may be omnipotent but it had no emotions therefore it was simply a tool for those who were willing to exploit it.
What the region function showwd across every single leader in the world was intensely negative from the citizens perspective but from the economic perspective their trade value had doubled in most cases or even higher in others.
In the city of Raylock.
A man in extravagant clothing with a sword on his hip was examining a system screen with various people around looking at their own.
What he was looking at was that very function.
"Lord Raylock the otherworlders have destroyed the city's citizen satisfaction, in just those five days it was reduced from 53% to 38%. We must do something about those criminals that came with the otherworlders!"
Genevieve Sola- Raylock Cityguard Captain lv 678.
She had slammed her gauntlet down on the table and was looking the lord in the eye.
"Absolutely not, have you not seen the reports on the trade value? Not only do we now have so much raw material from the beasts outside of the city from those little bastards but our average income has doubled!"
On the screen it showed a figure similar to a stock market screen with the chart showing a sudden explosive rise.
"Our city's value has reaches silver, you cannot allow her to drive away those otherworlders!"
James Alec- Raylock Economics Head lv 497.
While they were speaking a man entered the room, he wore a beautiful mage robe and behind him were two priests that had arrived at the city not many days ago.
"My lord we have a problem, one of the mages at the tower brought word that an otherworlder exposed what happens in the dungeons that we've been hearing about showing up across the world."
From behind him the two priests pushed past like he wasn't even present.
"Hello Lord Balthazar Raylock, your city has been showing great waves of shadow magic lately and your court wizard here told us everything about it, not only your aunt secretly hiding her shadow affinity years ago but now another shadow user showing up?"
The other priest spoke up now.
"Not only another shadow user but we hear about this dungeon in your land actually being your aunt's tomb? Not only her tomb but this otherworlder told your little tower's mage that she was the lich boss?"
The more they spoke the more the color drained from everyone's faces and when the priest finally said the word lich loud gasps filled the room, then Balthazar vanished.
Appearing behind the priest he threw him down to the ground with his blade drawn and ready to remove the priests head.
"You lie! Tell me the truth! This never happened and your disgusting church is just trying to find an excuse to get your fingers on my family's territory again!"
He held the priest down by pressing his boot to the man's chest.
He could not see the other priest holding his holy symbol of their church with a blank expression at this outburst.
"First you killed Aunt Diana, one of the most caring women i've ever known in my life and then you tried to use your claims of shadow magic to take over my territory with your little branch churches."
The man had pure hatred and tears developing in his eyes.
"How dare you return to this land after you tried to defileit and now you bring back the same lies? You even try to disgrace my aunts memory by calling her a lich in a dungeon we cannot even enter?"
The more he spoke the louder he screamed until the rest worried he would tear his own vocal chords.
"You people are not welcome in my city or any of my lands and if I ever see another of your order in my lands again i will have them executed for conspiracy against the local lord!"
Then he kicked the priest in the ribs and forced him out of the room not caring about the damage to the door when the man hit it.
"Leave and never return! The church of light is banned in my territory!"
A small flash of light originating from the holy symbol of the other priest occurred and then he began to leave.
"You will regret this day Lord Raylock, harboring a lich and a shadow mage? They may send an inquisitor."
"Stop! Stop calling my aunt a lich! She was a powerful life mage but you have to be a monster to sacrifice yourself to become one of those! How would she have ever even learned how to become a lich when your disgusting church destroyed every form of necromancy teaching supplies that existed?"
He was beyond disguted now.
"Yes a lich is a monstrous existence that must be eradicated because of the cruelty they show but not all life mages want necromancy for that reason, how many families can never gain the closure their older family members knew by speaking with the spirits of the departed? The festival of souls no longer exists in this country because of you!"
"You will regret this day, mark my words."
